Ryse Son of Rome coming to PC this fall [no port begging other games]

Are you being disingenuous? Do you really think most reviewers use the whole scoring spectrum?

Yes, there are a lot of people who try to pawn the game review scoring problem off on the expectations of reader instead of the actual reviewers themselves.

Chicken, egg, etc. Reader's expectations were defined by years and years of 7-10 review culture. Don't blame me because a 7/10 for a AAA game means it's absolute garbage, I'm not a game reviewer.

Are you being disingenuous? Do you really think most reviewers use the whole scoring spectrum?

Well, perhaps they just don't consider many games to be legitimately worthy of a score on the lower ends of the scale (such as 1-4)?

I seem to recall Ryse getting a 3 from Metro though.

I can't imagine these once-exclusive Xbox One games coming to the PC is actually good for future Xbox One sales. It doesn't exactly spur you to buy a system does it.
No, it doesn't.

This is starting to feel like the Xbox 360, exclusives coming out on other systems. What's next, Quantum Break?

Great news, the game is super fun IMO, and is serious eye candy. I might be double dipping on this to see it's beauty on my PC.

Publishing contracts. Granted it is not the same as owning IP, MS used to have pretty tight publishing contracts. Reason why the original mass effect was never released on PS3 outside of a packaged trilogy. Reason why Gears never graced the PS3 despite epic owning the IP.

It has been less than a year and we have had DR3 and Ryse see official announcements for release on PC. That with the rumor of the Halo collection going to PC, just all seems plausible.

I don't expect titles like Sunset Overdrive to ever come to PC but like last generation maybe the Remedy developed Quantum Break will. Speculation of course but one with an eye looking at the past.

Microsoft owns Quantum Break IP, you won't see that on PC IMO. Alan Wake was on PC because MS doesn't own the IP, much like why DR3 and Ryse are now on PC.

i will look forward to the visual enhancement mods people do to Ryse PC. i bet some cool mods will come of this to, like how Skyrim got fan made expansion pack and quests.

We need to see the review scores as points in a school test. 6/10 points would be 60% which would be 4/D or 4-/D- in school, if i remember right? Everything under 50% is a 6/F. Thats the only way reviews make sense for me. 90-92 = 1-/A-, 93-95 1/A and 96+ 1+/A+.

Oh god these is really good news to us but bad news for microsoft.

Can wait to play it with my DS4

I think the terms for this deal was unfavourable for Crytek. By insisting on keeping the IP, they probably had less support from MS, which also barred them from releasing the game on anything else for 1 full year.

"We've given our team the opportunity to show what CryEngine can really achieve, without compromising quality, thanks to the incredible hardware available now to PC gamers. Ryse will be a benchmark PC graphics showcase this year and probably for a long time in future. Our community asked for a Ryse PC version, and we have the means and technology to deliver this title with the highest quality possible."

Always thought Crysis was their flaghsip show stopper. Obviously this game is newer but Crysis 3 has had no compromises on PC.

Yea, but - isn't it less incentive to own an Xbox One?

depends on if you game on PC, if you have a PC then yeah there's likely no point in getting an Xbox One considering this trend of exclusive ports. but if you just have a PS4 or Wii U and want the Xbox One exclusives and don't game on PC, then an Xbox One in a year or so might make for a nice second console.

It is, for those that have gaming PCs.

It's not going to change the mind of your average consumer who (if they even consider it) could pick between building a gaming system or buying a $400 (or cheaper) system in the future.

We're only talking about a couple third-party developed MS published titles. And if it's a year later I don't think there is any impact anyway. Also if MS decided to try to block this on PC wouldn't that be bad?

Frankly I'm not sure why anyone with a capable PC that enjoys PC gaming would be buying on console to begin with.

Wow, I'm happy about this because despite it looking thoroughly mediocre to me, I read lots of very good impressions from the XB1 owners on here.

Although, MS is really making it a hard case for me to buy an XB1 of my own....Dead Rising 3, Ryse, and the rumoured Halo collection. Why would I buy an Xbox if these all come to PC? Still want Sunset Overdrive but I don't know that it's going to be enough.

Seems like it's been ages since Crytek had a game on Steam. Glad they're self publishing. Atleast I assume it'll go to Steam.

Next gen tips:

1º - Buy a PS4 for Multiplat + third party exclusives + First party exclusives.

2º - Buy a WiiU for First party exclusives.

3º - Buy a good GPU for your PC(you have a PC right?) and then double dip the multiplats when summer sale starts to enjoy the ultra graphics/framerate/resolution/mods and,of course, wait for Xone "exclusives" to come out on PC.

4º - Don't buy a Xone! you already have all the games.

Gee, can't fucking wait to play Forza Motorsport 5 on my GTX770.

MS' publishing contracts only cover console gaming. Which is why MS publishes for 360/XBO. It doesn't extend to PC; because MS doesn't own the IP MS can't dictate what developers do with their IP on PC. Which is why DR3, Ryse, AW came to PC at best MS can request an "timed exclusive" on the games. Very rarely will any third party sign an agreement that forbids them from releasing a port on PC at any time because it's lost revenue.

It has been less than a year and we have had DR3 and Ryse see official announcements for release on PC. That with the rumor of the Halo collection going to PC, just all seems plausible.

Halo: MCC is nothing more than a rumor, and even if it were to come to PC its situation is completely different and unrelated to DR3 and Ryse coming to PC. MCC would be coming to PC because MS (the owners of the IP) decided such; once again MS has no say in what Capcom or Crytek do with their IPs on PC. If it helps people understand, think of it as simply a third party game being published on PC (because that's essentially what it is). Ryse and DR3 coming to PC isn't any type of indication that MS owned IPs are coming to PC.

I don't expect titles like Sunset Overdrive to ever come to PC but like last generation maybe the Remedy developed Quantum Break will. Speculation of course but one with an eye looking at the past.

Maybe it will, maybe it won't. That's going to be up to Remedy if they own the QB IP or not, and feel like porting to PC in the event they do own the IP.

0/11 Atleast make some effort when you troll.

Crytek: "We need money, PC gamers come help us"

PC gamers are too busy playing FTP MOBAs to care. But Crytek should move a couple thousand $5 copies during a Steam sale.

Anyways it's crazy to see X1 lose yet another "exclusive". PS4 is only going to widen the sales gap further as Microsoft is losing their exclusives. Even if there are no further announcements you know some will hold off on an X1, expecting to see Halo MCC and SO on PC. I thought Phil Spencer was supposed to save the X1?

Does this mean every Xbone exclusive coming from a 3rd party developer will come on PC a year later?

Sounds discouraging for those wanting to buy a Xbone system like me.

To play exclusive games? I'm not sure why that's hard to understand. I was planning to buy Xbone when it bundles Sunset Overdrive now seeing 3rd party exclusives coming to PC I think I won't buy Xbone anytime soon.

I might hear check this out. I know reviews were great, but some people seemed to like it quite a bit. Plus, dem graphics.

Very cool for people who are not going to buy an X1. I have a few friends who went PS4/PC this gen and if this pattern continues they should be happy.

Until those games get released on PC, thats very difficult to know.

On the other hand, while PC players are playing last years games, we're onto the new ones... if thats a sufficient incentive?

Why do you assume this? This is not the case.

Crytek lost a lot of money with this game and it didnt sell that well so they want to recoup some of those lost finances.

Either Crytek needs all the money they can get or MS was more serious about supporting PC gaming
It will look insane on PC tho, can't wait to see some ingame stuff

This has nothing to do with MS with Crytek self publishing the DD release and Deep Sliver doing retail. IP is also owned by Crytek. All MS did was get exclusive rights to a timed console release.

Because of 1 game?

DR3
TF

Because the vast majority of people who are in the market for a video game console couldn't care less if said games are also on PC.

well at least Sony are straight about calling No Man's Sky a timed exclusive instead of "ONLY ON PLAYSTATION"
