Have you tried LFS in the DK2?
It's hard to explain why the game looks great in the DK2. The best way I can describe it is that the world seems to be completely in scale and solid, and the low quality graphics, textures and lighting don't seem to matter or reduce this effect.
The dashboard actually looks like a dashboard in front of you. You feel like you can rest your arm in the open window as you drive. I actually tried to put my wireless keyboard on the passenger seat when the race was starting.. and only realised what I'd done when I heard the "thunk" of it hitting the floor. You feel like you can reach out and touch other cars as they pass you.
It really is an amazing game when played with a wheel in the DK2.
No, I skipped on the DK2. I know I'd love it, but I'm gonna be patient and save that money to put towards a higher end GPU upgrade next year.
And I totally get how Live for Speed is probably absolutely amazing. What I'm saying is that its early days and racing sims with better physics and graphics in the CV1 are going to be another big leap forward. Basically, I think we're just looking at the tip of the iceberg here with racing sims.
True. All I'm saying is that even with the exact current implementation, just with better CV1 hardware, and with easier setup, those 2 games are enjoyable enough that people would be absolutely blown away. As they exist right now. But basically any well implemented game of a certain genre will be a killer app because VR itself is the killer app in a sense.
Oh yea, I mean, I'm sure if Live for Speed was all that was going to happen, it would still be a VR-seller for people. And I'm giddy at the fact that people are already being absolutely blown away by a slightly older game like this.
I mean, at this point, VR has already
proven its here to stay. If for whatever reason it fails to be a total revolution in gaming and in life in general, it has already earned a continued existence just for space sims and racing sims alone.
Ha, I know. Its like every other post is talking about the 'best VR experience yet' now that support is picking up.
Perhaps its to due with his eyes, the difficulty in getting things to work or his PC hardware specs.
