I played a set of matches on UNIEL with Alioune yesterday and he destroyed me properly with his Nanase. The 2B, 2C goes so far you are shitting in your pants each time you are middle range. The slide sword can be canceled after hit on block so she can close distance very well, and it's free mixup right after.

What is he canceling into on block?
 
Damn I feel so bad if someone fucks up and eats a disc or puddle mine from carmine in the corner. Free 3.6k damage that's the most effortless combo in the world :lol
 
Gotta have that pocket Hilda to keep les Gordeaux at bay. My plan was always play Hilda against the high tiers and Linne against the rest. Plan would work too if it wasn't for Yuzuriha distracting me and threatening to monopolize all my training time. Spreading myself too thin ftw. :D
 
I keep seeing folks say Hilda's low-tier but a lot of the personal tiers for the JP put her at mid or a bit higher. Didn't she also win a tourny recently?

ggs! Sorry it was laggy though. You're WC right? I was really surprised how consistently you could get Waldstein's BnBs. It was hard to do meaties and proper frame traps, and I probably shouldn't have let myself be more mashy but both of your characters seem really scary once they get going lol. Carmine's normals actually have surprisingly good range compared to a lot of characters.

I need to think more about what I should be doing against Waldstein (aka not charging in when I have the life lead :V).
 
Well if by WC you mean Mexico lol Lag was bearable but certainly frustrating at times...like any time I tried to land Carmine's freaking 63214C =.=

And yeah I'm surprised with how many reversal 360 Cs I got away with. Hell I even somehow got away with an accidental TK 214C twice lol

Still, both of my characters really suffer when under pressure (done properly of course), so it's not that you shouldn't rush them, but you should rush them smartly.

It was hard to tell, but I feel like all of the inputs I missed were because I missed cancel windows :V. I need to try out online more to be sure though. Considering it was Florida to Mexico it wasn't as awful as it could've been. It was better than SF4 lol.

Also I found an Orie doing a neat 2.8k meterless punish off of 5A on a video. I didn't really see it on Dustloop (to be honest I didn't see it on pages 1 and 4 of Orie's thread and then I stopped checking lol), so I'm going to post it here. It's definitely not something I could hitconfirm off of pressure but it's not harder than a lot of combos like some of Eltnum's confirms or anything.

5A 5C tk.j2C j.214A dB 623A 5A 5B 214B 2C 6C 214B. You can probably end the combo with 214B 214A 41236C for the extra ~800-1k damage too.

Edit: Oh wait it's in Stunedge's Orie combo list lol. I should go over that more. I saw that posted a while ago but I never really scrummed through it.

Who are you using against him?

I've lost count on how many times I did CS to wake up faster to punish their meaty, then just getting meatied...

Hyde. I need to learn how to pressure properly instead of mashing on all of the buttons in a blockstring so I'm playing him instead of Vatista.

Also I don't think CS makes you wake up faster. AFAIK, if you're being meatied and you press a button on CS, you still get meatied.

What I mean is, when you're on the ground face down, you can CS and put you back into standing state and DP if you see a move coming out during the screen freeze. With someone like Eltnum, you can just 421C and get 4k off of it.

For some reason I'm having a hard time CS'ing on wakeup online :(. I think I'm missing the reversal timing and am just getting meatied instead lol. Can you CS and hold block at the same time?
 
What's the general opinion on Byakuya? I haven't picked this up yet, but I haven't really seen him played a lot whenever I watch streams.

Yeah, you can. A shield will come out, but you still can.
What's the general opinion on Byakuya? I haven't picked this up yet, but I haven't really seen him played a lot whenever I watch streams.

My friend and I agree that he's around mid tier. He has some really good oki and great range on his normals. Combos are pretty long where he can easily drain up Vorpal time and take it next cycle for even more meter. His biggest issue is defense though. No reversal options means you have to respect opponents a lot and make use of Shield.

Character is solid. Lack of reversal and button/pressure issues vs the high tier are the issues stopping him from being more than pretty good.

Probably haven't seen him a lot since a lot of players picked a char they could watch JP vids for and get going faster, where as with him you had to actually come up with stuff.
 
I am getting no luck today. Maybe won like...five out of twenty matches online. 'Could hardly connect even the most rudimentary of Wald's air combos. There's a lot of killers, and not being able to play every other week makes it hard to keep up.
 
Heyo, random drive-by posting to share something downright bizarre I noticed...

at 1:28 in Waldstein's theme, it turns into the music from Rhythm Heaven's See-saw minigame XD

I'm currently learning Vatista (laser fairy! yay! papapapa!) with some Eltnum on the side because she's just kinda fun in general to play :3 I literally made a JP PSN account just to get this game :D
Anyone from the UK playing this? I'm curious how good/bad a UKer's online experience with this will be considering most of the players are likely from elsewhere in the world :P
 
It's so much more comfortable playing this game offline lol. Cancel windows are so short in this game and messing up your pressure can kill you because everything is so negative on block IMO. I think this is a surprisingly fast game. I'll still try to play online though.

What do you do about Linne's fireball? I'm scared to block it because I feel like she gets in for free if I do lol. Does shielding help?

TK projectile should be plus for her. So facing Linne, you sort of have to make decisions so you aren't a sitting duck and let her pressure you. I need to test this out, but I think dash canceling (is it?) her projectile is actually minus and not plus. But it might depend on range. I have time today so I was going to lab against some of her tools.

I usually don't shield her projectiles. It's really hard to do it on reaction. If you do it late, she can easily GRD break you with a throw. She can be a pretty annoying matchup if you face a good one. She has a lot of scary pressure with projectiles and reverse beats. Shield any autopilot pressure from the player. Even if you're not able to reset back into neutral when you're cornered, just try to inch yourself forward after each blockstring.

Finally got to play this last night. This game is so good.

Been wanting to play it and my boy gordeu since it was first shown (mainly because he looks bad ass and his name sounds like gordo which means fat in Spanish lol)

Really fun game though. I can't wait to play more

I'm spoiled, I need my frame data. In-game frame data would be even better. *looks at KI* Yup... sure would be nice to have frame data. *coughs* Injustice *coughs* I mean, is there really any harm in including frame data or the ability to turn on hit boxes? *sneezes* KI *sneezes*
