Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 12: Gwah, hah. Welcome to the Bowser's game.

Homestuck Kid for Smash. With the way the character sprites work you could basically have 16 alt-skins without having to worry about major moveset reworking.

Final Smash is them going god-tier.
Just have Problem Sleuth with a Spades Slick alt. Final smash is Sepulchitrude/Beq Noir (I know Spades Slick doesn't become Beq Noir, work with me here).

A Homestuck fighting game would probably reel in millions from tumblr alone. Can't wait to see how their upcoming game turns out.

Why do you guys bitch about too many sword users and then want Ganon in with a new moveset that gives him a sword? If anything, I want Hyrule Warriors Longhairnondorf with his classic trident. I'm not a huge Zelda fan in the first place - not in the sense that I don't like it, but I never really played any of them because I'm more of a sci-fi dude - but I mained Ganondorf in Brawl. I mainly want the trident and him to get an SSB4 depiction along the lines of what he looks like in that huge-ass vertical fan mural of the Zelda chronology:

I love that image. Best part is that it was done on a single layer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNdEO5lnBz8

Also, sorry guys. I've been to preoccupied with Twitch nonsense.

On the subject of trident-maneondorf being playable, that hugely long cape makes me think it'd be a neat novelty if one of his alt-specials was a Brawl Sheik snare-esque "flip it around to do damage" attack where you could flick his cape around to deflect projectiles. Maybe as an up-special where you could use your cape in certain motions to alter your air game or recovery.

I don't know why, but for some reason Homestuck grabbed me in a way no other "franchise" really ever has - I picked it up while I was out of school for a few days (about a month before the Gigapause announcement), and managed to blow through the entire thing over the better half of about four days. So, basically, all of its content in one go save for the handful of panels that got added leading up to the end of A6A6I2. Only things I skipped were the more technical bits in flash games, a conversation between Dave and Jade in Act 3, and one or two expositional pesterlogs during the Doc Scratch info dump leading up to Cascade. I was actually surprised with the brevity of it all, albeit I didn't realize the pacing was so random. I was expecting way more required reading along the way with how much people complain about "oh you have to read like 300 pages before it gets good," but people don't realize a page is basically a single comic strip panel with some technobabble and pop culture references thrown in. With the MSPaint Adventures wikia and a few tidbits from tumblr, it all went pretty full-circle. I never had any problems with it.

Homestuck used to be huge with me and some of my friends. I think what I liked the most was how Hussie made Sburb so interesting. I am still really looking forward to the game this year mainly hoping that it is Sburb based.

On the actual story, I used to enjoy it a lot, but after Act 6 started I just really didn't like that much, I feel like Act 6's quality wasn't as good as the others and then I just felt indifferent about the whole thing. I am still gonna finish reading it whenever he updates it again though.

On that note I love Problem Sleuth, it's great.

On a smash related note. I assume we will be getting the game's direct for the 3ds in about a week from release in Japan. But I think we will get a veteran reveal before that.

I gave up after Cascade when there were four new kids and 12 new trolls and all the "Ancestors" and it just got way too complicated to follow and up its own ass. There were so many complaints when the original trolls got introduced that there were just too many characters and personalities and plot threads and typing quirks to follow, and then the author was like "I'll double everything!"

I don't think there's any real hope of a satisfying ending now. He's great at callbacks and continuity, but I think he's just let things get way too far out of scope and lost control of his story.

The soundtracks are incredible, though. It's like listening to an "original" OCRemix album.

Has a Nintendo game of recent prevented people from playing outside of their region online?

Monster Hunter won't let you play with people in Japan if you're in the West or vice versa.

At some point, it was region locked to US, Europe and Japan before Capcom decided to merge the US and European servers.

I'm honestly just dying to see how he actually manages to resolve everything. Apparently he's had the ending in sight since its inception, it's just going to be fully-realized now. I didn't really have a problem with the whole Act 6 being convoluted thing because the character "templates" (where they fall under the zodiac) made everything pretty straightforward to associate as far as I'm concerned, and it was pretty cool that he essentially rebooted his own series in-universe.

And yeah, the soundtracks are great. I've talked to some of the musicians on Twitter and apparently Homestuck Vol. 10 is going to be the next (and final) album, so that's probably going to be unreal, too.

I was thinking about that after I typed my question, but generally their online allows for multiplayer with other regions

But, of course, Everybody knows that if we'd ever got an "Internet" character in Smash that it'll be Strong Bad.
Who, (alongside Mega Man[!]), was featured on Wii Homepage's "Enhance Your Wii" section (up until a couple of months ago & was replaced with the WiiMini home page)).
Also a few sbemails were on Nintendo Video (while it was still running).

I do not believe that Strong Bad would ever make it into Smash, but the wrestleman is certainly more likely than anything from HomeStuck.

Let's talk about how amazing the menu theme is for Smash 4.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQJIqc1psw0

Particularly at 0:56, which sounds like a freaking NFL intro or something.

I was never quite comfortable with Brawl's theme, it just never fit to me. While I was a bit weirded out by the new theme for 4, it's grown on me considerably.
I just listened to this full version for the first time.

I honestly think it beats out Melee's Menu 2 by far. Holy shit. EDIT: Who else is getting Wonderful 101 vibes at 1:10?

I'm strongly considering getting a Japanese 3DS with a capture card to stream Smash 3DS. If online play isn't region-locked, I would get more use out of it. I could help stream a GAF tournament, etc.

I think I'm still of the opinion that Melee's opening (that is, the actual intro video song) is a little better, but as far as menus go, yeah. 4 kicks every other game's ass. Sporting event is a good point of reference, and definitely more in line with what I consider Smash than Brawl's theme ever was.

If you, or anyone, does this I have a request:

Any time you're not playing, set the game on the 'online spectator' betting mode and let it cycle through the recorded matches indefinitely.

That would be the best stream to watch while waiting for a US release, assuming it works like it did in Brawl and will roll into the next match after a short betting window without needing any player input.

Agreed. Melee's theme is beautiful, but 4's gets me pumped to kick some ass!

Okay, just remind me when the time comes. I can't read Japanese, so I'd need some help with advanced options.

Am I the only guy who thinks manedorf is awesome?

No, there's quite a few people in the thread that prefer ganondorf as is and don't want him to have a sword moveset.

E: Unless we're talking about Hyrule Warriors ganondorf or something? I haven't been following the conversation.

E2: oh manedorf, I read it as manondorf somehow

This may very well be my favorite Smash theme thus far. Also, the more I listen to this piece, the more convinced I am that Jun Ishikawa or Hirokazu Ando is behind it.

I think SB4 theme is SO better than Brawl's, the more time passes. This is so good.

I don't like that song as a menu theme, it's too loud and epic. It would sound much better as a Final Destination or Battlefield theme, IMO.

i think i've heard the song played on those stages, too.

i actually like it for the menu. it reminds me of the beginning of monday night football or some shit.
