Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 12: Gwah, hah. Welcome to the Bowser's game.

This is really cool... but I've been looking over it and is Fi really the only Skyward Sword representation on this thing? No Impa, Groose, Ghirahim or Demise? I'd think Demise at the very least is significant enough to the universe to include. Or was this made before Skyward Sword actually came out?

Yeah.

Wow, that picture is amazing !

Yes.. and this is relevant because.. ?
Because the stage in based on the GameBoy and the image shown was of the Nintendo logo during the startup sequence when the "ba-ding" sound is made. There really is no deeper meaning to the whole thing.

I share your irrational optimism. If Charizard can count for some part of Pokemon Trainer returning, I think it's fairly likely that SSB4 won't drop anyone. And even then, a reworked Squirtle/Blastoise or Ivysaur/Bulbasaur/Venusaur would be a fairly easy secret or DLC character to implement.

I think Pokemon Trainer would return to Smash 4 in Charizard's Final Smash where Pokemon Trainer would activate Mega Evolution for Charizard to become Mega Charizard.

Also, that Zelda anniversary image makes me doubly sad Byrne isn't appearing in Hyrule Warriors. He's one of the WW-styled characters that lend themselves particularly well to more naturalistic proportions.

Why do you guys bitch about too many sword users and then want Ganon in with a new moveset that gives him a sword? If anything, I want Hyrule Warriors Longhairnondorf with his classic trident. I'm not a huge Zelda fan in the first place - not in the sense that I don't like it, but I never really played any of them because I'm more of a sci-fi dude - but I mained Ganondorf in Brawl. I mainly want the trident and him to get an SSB4 depiction along the lines of what he looks like in that huge-ass vertical fan mural of the Zelda chronology:

Ok, i'm not going to beat around the bush, the fact that Greninja is a playable character is, in my opinion, the stupidest thing I have seen in this game so far (and i hope it will stay that way).
To me, Greninja is just a face in a crowd of 718 people that doesn't stand out at all. He got in because nintendo wanted to advertise Gen 6 and took the "coolest" looking pokemon, and even if he is better than average he doesn't stand out as much as Lucario, who was way more popular before brawl than Greninja was 2 days ago.
Speaking of popularity, Greninja wasn't even rated once in the "Rate their chances" thread, while Zoroark was rated twice. His support thread (created in november) barely reached the second page before his anouncement, with the last post dating back to the end of january, Hawlucha (another Gen 6 pokemon) did better than that.

All i want to say is that i don't feel like Greninja deserve to be playable, his design isn't that interresting, his role in pokemon X/Y isn't special, and he isn't popular enough to get in.
However, i know some people are happy with his inclusion, so i would like to see how much, and, most important, why.
(i think i made some mistake with my english, sorry about that.)

Greninja's a pretty great choice. He's one of the best water starters ever (if not the best), and he looks really cool. He looks really fun to play as!

Just sayin', but we still don't know that it's a stage. It'd be awesome if it was, though.

Yes, it's a stage.

How do we know this? Not meaning to give you a hard time at all, I just don't see why we assume it's a stage and not just part of a cutscene or some other mode or feature.

Greninja's best water starter, best non Mega 6th gen Pokemon and has a wicked looking moveset (that down air and back air). He was really one of the best surprises so far.

Finally got a chance to do this guy.

Oh maaaaaan. If I didn't already have mine I'd be all over this.

Funny, seeing as Zoroark was more or less a failed attempt at Lucario 2.0 and it shows when they went back to Lucario in BW2. The fact that Greninja is a well liked starter means that it will be known for much longer than Hawlucha.

I am so fucking happy Zoroark didn't make it in. It sounded always so boring and useless.
The best moveset I've ever heard for him consisted in him transforming into another player in the battle at the beginning of the match. That's it.
Fuck Zoroark.

oh no, Greninja wasn't rated in the "rate their chances" thread, what will it possibly do

Zoroark could have made a great shang-tsung character, but I prefer Greninja.

I'd love to have Zoroark, Greninja and Mewtwo (and Squirtle, Ivysaur and Jigglypuff) though, roster slots be damned.

Ghirahim > Ganondorf

Skull Kid > Ganondorf

Ganon > Ganondorf
....

I can agree with this.

Also:

Zant > Ganondorf (As long as he has attacks from all the other TP bosses that he uses, would be amazing.)

Vaati > Ganondorf

Literally anyone is better than Ganondorf lol its sad none of these woll get in most likely. (I understand tho, that it would be weird and wouldn't happen without Ganondorf since he is the main villain and all.)

Because it is obvious. I mean no one questioned this image when it was revealed:

And yet a picture shown from the usual camera angle, with fighters in the usual stance is questioned. I honestly don't get it.

Wasn't that confirmed to be part of the new Hyrule Warriors-esque Adventure mode? That's the Advance Wars world map, not a stage. There aren't even characters in the picture!

Take a look at picture, and look close to Dedede's Hammer. His hammer isn't monochrome, just like his Brawl alt in Brawl.

Zoroark wasn't even available in Pokemon BW except through events. How dumb is that? "Hey guys here's the next big Pokemon... THAT YOU CAN'T GET." It was hilarious in Gen VI how Zoruas were just randomly found in the grass somewhere. From unobtainable event Pokemon to grass jobber.

I admit I too was offput by Greninja's random inclusion. However I must say he is the one I am most looking forward to playing. I also love using him in XY, as he was my starter and I have another one for my "serious" team.

Also don't hate me but I love that Charizard is solo now as he was the most fun Pokemon to play in Pokemon Trainer's team.

I think Charizard being solo was the best thing to happen to him.

Some form of Ganon or Ganondorf should always be on the roster, but I wouldn't be opposed to including characters like Twinrova either. Though again, they fall under the 'largely irrelevant' category like most non-Ganon Zelda villains.

They are the 3rd most prominent villains in the Zeldaverse though. First you have Ganon(dorf) who's prominent all around, then you have Vaati terrorizing tiny people, and not so tiny people multiple times, and lastly you have Twinrova raising Ganondorf, and then raising Mindless Ganon.

Since they're a stage hazard and Idk who we'd leave it to were they not there, I wouldn't be opposed to Vaati. There's no other real airbender type in Smash... other than DK apparently, lol

I definitely agree they're up there in prominence when it comes to Zelda antagonists, it's just that Ganon/dorf's presence dominates the series to the point where any other antagonist seems minor in comparison. Though the human version of Ganondorf does appear with roughly the same frequency as Koume and Kotake...

Yeah, that's true. 3rd piece of the Triforce being his and all that. Honestly though, I wanna see him more. He hasn't bee in a main game since Twilight Princess. There's been 4 games since then not counting OoT 3D.

Fake Edit: Wait, nvm. I just saw Ganon last year, lol.

Greninja is a great character for Smash. He's really popular and he represents newer Pokemon games.

I like that we have a variety of Pokemon from all generations. It's similar to how I like the Fire Emblem reps in Smash, it's a wide variety that doesn't always just use the first + newest.

I was very disappointed with how hostile people were towards Ike returning, how he should have been cut for a newer FE Character. Smash shouldn't be about the "First and Newest" only, that would be boring and stupid.

Totally agree. I like having different eras of Nintendo represented.

A well made Ganondorf > Ghirahim/Zant/Vaati > our current Ganondorf.

I'm disappointed with anyone actively wanting roster cuts to be honest. The more the merrier. I like to go in and give every character a chance, while learning their playstyle... Except rob. I cannot play as rob at all, but I still don't want him cut.
