Well I personally think its a pretty big deal.
I don't know how slow your internet is, but at worst you'd only have to wait 10 to 15 hours, right? You've waited months to play this game, you can wait another half day. Regardless, hopefully pre-loading is launched well before hand!

Okay so I was listening to latest IGN's Podcast Unlock episode and Ryan said he saw the Halo 4 1080p/60fps footage during the E3 closed door demo. I never knew they showed this. Anyways, so he said the difference was negligible. Do we have any other impression on this?

Never listen to Ryan McCaffrey. He can't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p.

I played Halo 4 on a 1080p/60Hz HDTV, so Halo 4 actually being 1080p/60fps is huge. The game also had some frame drops on 360, so if those are gone, then... hot diggity.

The unified UI is gonna be really cool, so I hope 343 figures out a way to bring all future Halo games to it -- it would be really unique and quite possibly set Halo drastically apart from other series just based on that alone. I'm just not sure if it's feasible.

pretty sure the 4 games in one already has, unless you want to count The Orange Box.

I don't need Reach or ODST again. I'm sure never playing Reach again, and ODST was great but I already 100% it and there's no matchmaking.

Picture it launching from Halo 5's disc as long as MCC is installed. High unlikely due to DRM though. It would be a fantastic evolution of Waypoint. If Microsoft had planned ahead better that could have been a selling point for all-digital games.

I need my ODST Firefight. I think it's way better than Reach's because you aren't a Spartan and staying alive is more of a battle.

There was a pretty slick unified UI in the Sonic Gems Collection.

Subsequent games should have their own UI. I don't want to see the same old, outdated UI with new releases. There's always improvements to be made.

Halo 2 UI was so good. I don't know if it has actually improved over the years.

3 and Reach vastly improved over it..

3 allowed you to change all the gametype settings without having to back out of the lobby, for example.

Reach lets you manage everything from the Start meta menu, no matter where you are at.

I wonder if anyone will mod Halo 2 on PC to have anniversary graphics. Could they do that? Im not sure if Halo 2 PC is as mod friendly as Halo Custom Edition is, but if so, thatd be neato for guys waiting for the incredibly unlikely PC version.

I don't think you can make any real single player mods in Halo 2 Vista. You can do some basic stuff with some tools, like swapping weapons (Scarab Guns everywhere!) and projectile types (BR firing Brute Shot grenades), enemies (bad results though, i once swapped jackals to brutes...). But graphics? Don't think that's possible.
Or perhaps it would be possible but the mod-scene is basically non-existent for the game so...

EDIT then there's the piracy problem. Copying the art assets from the MCC for use with mods isn't legal really.

Yeah... Really sad how dead Halo 2 PC is. Its weird because everyone's HYPED for Halo 2 Anniversary, but not enough to hop on the Halo 2 thats still running servers? Weird.

It is not like anyone even has the game (or bothers to play with due to that GWFL mess it has). Don't think Halo 2 Vista sold very well either due to the stupid Vista requirement. Microsoft fucked it up completely.
Halo PC was, ridiculous system requirements aside (for its time, it was pretty demanding but not that pretty IIRC), good PC port overall and had rather good support, active community and the Custom Edition allowed modders to flourish, even if it was never anywhere near as popular as Half Life or Warcraft modding.

Here are a few reasons

1. At the time it was Vista exclusive and by the time 7 hit no one remembered it came out
2. It never went DD so you had to buy a physical copy which by the time 7 hit were not in stores
3. It was an awful port, Mouse movement was fucked up unless running windowed mode, no custom resolution, no graphic options like FoV and ect, and AWFUL mod support. Mouse and custom res were fixed last year thank to DSfix.
4. It required GFWL, which needs to burn and die.
5. (personal reason) it had no MM support, only Custom lobbies.

Oh my

Oh, yes. That lack of digital download. If MS were to put it on Steam, it would quite likely sell relatively well, if it is priced reasonably (ie about 10-15€ considering its age).
And removed GWFL...

Im so glad i can play halo 4 without a 360. never did get around to buying it.
Still gonna start from 1 all over again. love the final sections in 1 and 3.

Remove GFWL, fix mouse movement issues, add custom res support and add in MatchMaking and yeah it would probably do pretty good on Steam.

While it will probably happen soon, it should have happened A LOT sooner.

Hey now, that would require actual work. Removing GWFL isn't that big deal, everything else can be cut as a cost-saving measure.
And i'm not saying i'd like to see that, i just think that's what would happen... It isn't like MS is a big PC gaming supporter theirs claims aside...

What I see happening when the ports eventually hit PC or if they do since plans might have changed is them doing what Happy Wars does with a simple log in to your Microsoft account and BAM access to XBL serves and they will add in a FEW options maybe or it will just always be locked at 1080/60FPS.

I'm pretty bothered by the "no LAN play without an Xbox Live connection" thing. Partially defeats the purpose of LAN. I'm surprised more people aren't upset by this.

Well it is kinda dumb. But there is nothing we can do about. Its obviously way better than not having it at all.

Halo 4 on 360 looked unbelievable IMO, can't wait to see 1080p 60fps footage of it on Xbone. I really really wish I could afford one because this collection is a system seller for me.

Spoiler for gameplay in Halo 4.
Halo 4 has an escape section in a ghost. You have to try to fail though, which takes all the fun out of it. If 343 has an escape section again, they need to do better than that, probably the worst part about the campaign (game play wise).

I have some cool ideas for a GAF tournament and would like to gauge interest. Here is a poll.

Halo 4 has exactly one spoiler that impacts things in the long run:
Cortana dies.
And, chances are, it's going to be a late arrival spoiler if Halo 5 actually keeps it going.

Otherwise, all you really need to know is this:

- Halo 3 never happened
- The ancient evil awakens
- The UNSC didn't have the budget to build the Infinity, a prototype-esque Super Pillar of Autumn on steroids, until after they lost billions to the covenant. Never did a similar move at the height of their power as with Reach. Not when the Elites joined. After their economy took a tank the likes of which we've never seen.
- Palmer sux
- Locke exists because Palmer ended up sucking and 343i needs BLASTER BLIEF, their token COMPLETELY ORIGINAL HALO DO NOT STEAL character that they'll use to replace Chief the second they manage to create one that doesn't completely blow.
- Prometheans aren't monsters. Prometheans aren't robots. Prometheans are monster robots.

I didn't like in Halo 4 how the UNSC treated Masterchief with less respect then past games. It seemed they didn't even care that the last Spartan who saved humanity was actually still alive.

At the start and end of Forward Unto Dawn, it seemed they cared, as Lasky was listening to Cortana's signal multiple times, and the radios were blaring about Masterchief being alive and stuff in the background. Then in the full game, I don't even believe they mention Chief being gone. Literally the first line the UNSC say to chief, is Palmers brilliant line of "I'd thought you'd be taller." srsly yo?

But yes, to an extent, It is basically like Halo 3 never happened in Halo 4.

I agree but I think it's done very intentionally to set up H5 and isolate Chief as much as possible so Locke can have his own presence.

Not sure whether I like that or not yet. Halo is Chief and Chief is Halo.

Really? I think it works perfectly. The average joes in the UNSC are, of course, in awe of Chief, but the upper brass kind of wants to sweep him under a rug. The SPARTAN-IIs would be viewed as an embarrassment, something too awkward to keep around lest people start thinking too hard about them. Naturally that attitude would filter down to some of the more ambitious lower ranks.

Palmer in particular seems like she's trying to compensate; the second Chief steps into the picture, she goes from chief badass on the Infinity to just another grunt.

Have to agree with everything here. But I was already let down that the UNSC and Covenant were still involved in Halo 4. I was hoping for Chief to be stranded on his own, fighting new enemies without the Covenant and UNSC showing up -- and not Halo enemies; unknown fucking aliens that we didn't know exist -- instead of "dem are Forerunners, it's a small universe!" Or, at least the UNSC could have showed up at the very end, so 343 could have Locke vs Master Chief in Halo 5.
