Xbox One- what would it take to get YOU to buy one ?

Ill change that question of yours to any next gen console for me. The Xbox One seems like it will get those weird every once in awhile Japanese or Western games that come out on it that I like but, I don't know how much I would actually be playing it. Master Chief collection seems something really nice and Sunset Overdrive but I am playing my PC and 3DS so much now I am not sure. I don't know how much I am willing to pay for XBL again as well. Back when I had my XB360 I used to pay for it but after I sold it I didn't have to worry about it anymore.

Basically the only reason I would buy a PS4 of an Xbox one for that matter would be for odd niche exclusives and the occasional big hype game but I am not too sure.
-End of thread relevant info pertaining just to the Xbox One.-

The PS4 sounds promising and I do like fighting games and most of those will be on the PS4 other than the XB1, same for JRPGs but seeing as both of those genres are slowly coming on the PC more than ever (Fighting games more than JRPGs) I am not sure.

As for the WiiU, that might happen but I am still not satisfied with the way Nintendo does their online infrastructure. The WiiU might happen later though but I am unsure.

PS: I use an Xbox One controller on the PC and I love it, so that is cool at least.

If it would cost 50€.

I'm serious. I wouldn't even buy it for 99€ or someting like that.
Of course Microsoft will not offer the Xbox One for 50€, I just wanted to say that there is nothing that would make me buy that thing.

Bought one a month ago for Titanfall, regretting every second of it.

The UI is fucking horrendous, it actually puts me off turning the damn machine on.

The most honest answer I can give? 10 exclusives that I genuinely want to buy / play. When I say exclusives, I'm talking strictly XB-One only, not timed exclusives, or XBO / PC.

So far there's 2. Sunset Overdrive & Phantom Dust.

The price being under 300 quid with a game bundled in, and it having some exclusives that interest me. My soon to be arriving new PC may however kill off even my passing interest in an xbone.

Probably nothing at this point. Their exclusive don't click with me for the most part. I don't like the look of a system and those bumpers felt weird when I tried the controller at GS; also I find thumb sticks too small. Besides I did not forget all the stuff they tried to pull on us last year and I cannot stand Major Nelson and Phil Spencer for some reason, they look phony and fake to me, I don't trust them. On top of that I have a gigantic backlog of PS3, PSV and PS4 games (around 60 untouched or unfinished titles). My free time as also very limited as I work full time and raising a 4 months old baby girl (being a Dad is awesome BTW) . That's pretty much it. XboxGaf, don't hate me, please; this is my honest opinion.

True exclusives and enough of 'em to warrant the expense.

At this point my main gaming is split between PC and PS4 and I've already made that my go to combo for offline/online games (either multi platform or exclusive to those devices).

I still have a PS3 and 360 too (and a Wii).

I've also invested in Smart TVs and no longer use PS3, PC or 360 for any media - my games consoles are just that now and I haven't even installed any of the media stuff on PS4 since I won't be using it - if I want to stream a film or make a skype video call it's via the TV directly without having to fire up any other devices.

Therefore if I buy an Xbox One it'll be purely for games I can't get anywhere else.

Right now it has nothing near the exclusive library to warrant the cost - even without Kinect I'm still buying a useless HDMI in and a media orientated device whose media functions I won't use on the side.

I like Halo and Forza but not enough to get one just for them.

SSO and QB look interesting as do some of the E3 announcements.

However factoring in the games I can get on PC I reckon I'll be waiting until there are at least 8 to 10 true exclusives I want and the price drops further.

I'm probably going to wait until next fall to consider getting one. It just needs more exclusives that I'm interested in and there's really nothing out yet that I like enough to buy an XB1 for when I've already got a PS4. I am interested in Sunset Overdrive, but I'll wait and see how that is received first. Quantum Break and Halo 5 have me intrigued as well.

More exclusives that I care about.

Right now, the system is a Forza/Halo machine in my eyes, and there isn't enough Forza and Halo on it to warrant a purchase.

And to be quite honest, I could probably do without either of them with Project CARS coming up, and Halo being a shell of its former self.

Given I already have a |PS4 since April (which I have yet to play... properly) the only reasons I would buy Xbone w/ its comparatively inferior hardware are:

1. Lower price than PS4 (or a great bundle at CAD $400) sans kinect
2. Quality exclusives (since multiplat titles will be bought on PS4)

Basically, it will become a collectible item for me and as such, I can wait for the price to go down and the library of exclusives to expand to my satisfaction.

As of right now, nothing. All money reserved for gaming will be tied up in future investments (building a new gaming PC, buying a Wii U, and of course the games coming this Fall and early 2015).

But maybe a few years from now I might consider one for like $199-250 with a (desirable) game bundled and maybe a year free of XBL, assuming it has enough exclusives I care to play. Sunset Overdrive and Forza Horizon 2 are a good start, but I need more than that.

Games. Exclusive games. REAL exclusive games. I have a PS4, Wii U and capable PC. My multiplat gaming is covered. I'd only be buying a bone for things that will never come to any other platform, and Halo/Gears/Forza just don't do it for me.

Shenmue 3 or Phantasy Star Online 2. A new Jet Set Radio... or Skies of Arcadia... basically, if it became the Dreamcast 2 I'd buy it.

I'm buying one at $399. I just want to wait for a smaller box/redesign before I jump in. Tons of great games coming out this year for it that I plan on buying hopefully sometime next year.

I'm waiting on Black Friday bundles. I'm 175% certain there will be some crazy, can't miss deal that will justify me having a 2 systems(PS4 already) this early in the game

Internal power supply and a price cut.

This is really considered a feature for some?

I feel I made a mistake last get getting the 360 and PS3 as they were way too similar, the same is the case for the XB1 and to make it work both charge for online

If I get one it is because I got a crazy deal or decided to trade my Ps4 towards it

Good exclusives that arent shooters or racing games.
Better Media capabilities for Europe (Germany).
A lower price.
1.5-2 TB SKU.

If they do all this if will strongly consider buying one.

Racing wheel support for X360 wheels (higher-end wheels at least, Fanatec etc.). That's it, see how easy it is? Forza Horizon 2 would be a nice gateway game into Xbox One but for whatever reason Microsoft decided to not support existing, perfectly fine hardware that people already have. Forza 5 would have done the same thing last year but again but no existing wheel support so it's a complete no-go with a total price tag of around 1000+ euros (Xbox One+game+new wheel which again, I'm not going to buy anytime soon because my existing wheel works just fine, just not on Xbox One).

Price drop below 299 + any of the following:

1) Japanese Exclusives
2) Battlefield Bad Company 2 Remaster Exclusive.
3) Slingbox capabilities
4) At least 3-4 platform exclusives that appeals to me (Right now only Sunset Overdrive.)
5) Xbox Live becomes free = instant buy.

(un)Fortunately, HMCC does nothing for me.
I still have to trudge through Halo 3 and Reach SP on the 360, so I'm having my fill of Halo.

I managed to overcome the grief of losing Forza (going from 360 to PS4) but if Dragon's Dogma 2 ever happens and it's exclusive ....

Bought one a month ago for Titanfall, regretting every second of it.

The UI is fucking horrendous, it actually puts me off turning the damn machine on.

Wow, I always that it looked pretty good - do you prefer the PS4 UI? As a PS4 owner, one of the things I found underwhelming when I first got it was the UI. Really hope they overhaul it soon.

Shenmue 3.

lol

Shenmue 3 exclusivity or maybe a $100 price tag. I'm honestly not interested, I went from 360 to PS4 this gen, no regrets.

Shenmue 3 or Phantasy Star Online 2. A new Jet Set Radio... or Skies of Arcadia... basically, if it became the Dreamcast 2 I'd buy it.

1. Even cheaper price. $399 without Kinnect still does not do it for me. Needs to be around the $350 mark or lower.

2. Games. Right now there is nothing I would play on it that I can't already on the PS4. I would only be getting the Xbox One for exclusives. Only thing coming out this year would be Horizon 2 and maybe SO. Have no interest in the MCC. Played them, and while the multiplayer might be good, there are plenty of other options that I will be sinking into that are new. Played Titanfall and while it was fun for a little bit, it got rather tiring as there really is no long term draw to the game.

There are a lot of exclusives that I want for the platform, but buying the console itself isn't in high priority right now. Being a college student with limited funds, I can only spend so much on gaming.

Already Owned:

3DS, PS3

Priority list:

PS4 > Wii U > Vita > Xbox One

Maybe a few years down the line, if I can get one used for $199.

Honestly? That would be hard for them but I'm probably not their target audience as I'll fully admit I'm biased PS, even before MS messed everything up. Hell, the one game I could think of they'd probably still not get me buying one cause if I couldn't get it for my PS4 and I was going to have to buy a computer specifically for it, I'd go PC cause the game honestly is better on PC (Fallout) because if nothing else, user mods (I am jealous of user mods for Fallout and Elder Scrolls. Only thing that I'm jealous of PC gaming for).

Honestly, some exclusives that really appeal to me and a pretty cheap price (because I'm not going to spend a lot on a console that is only bought just for the exclusives. Especailly as I'm the kind, even when I had a good budget, to just pick the console I felt would have the most game support and suck it up if I lost out on a few exclusives). That might have me consider an xbox one but they have to be exclusives I'm pretty sure I'll like.

Though, I will say MS 180'ing wasn't in vain. Because if they hadn't 180'd on online requirement and used game stuff, I would have refused to buy one no matter price or exclusive on principle alone. Only recently have I felt free to consider live gold cause I also refused to spend money on it until they got rid of the paywall for internet apps BS.

Free with a PS4 :0

Just kidding. Their launch strategy, subsequent lies and u-turns have undermined any trust I have in MS for the foreseeable future. I have a high end gaming PC and a PS4. Pulling Kinect out just made the machine a less powerful PS4... any unique features, games and ideas were thrown out with that baby.

The thing is that the PS4 is just fine and I prefer Sony's take on games. They support "left field" stuff and indies and will have Japanese developers helping out. The XB1 will keep mostly churning out their "sure fire... yawn... hits". There are some interesting things on the horizon but not enough to pull the trigger, yet.

As a VR lover (DK1 & DK2 in house) I am more likely to invest in Morpheus before XB1.

So for me, it was never about money really...

But as always there is room for any console near my telly once:
1. MOST IMPORTANTLY: I know MS will support the XB1 for the long term... with its current "business proposition" trajectory a long way off their original plans I want to know MS is prepared to keep backing their now "non-TV TV TV TV" & Kinect Nuads box.
2. It is down to mass market price... i.e. £250-£300 (with Kinect). Not because I can't afford it, but because this is the indication that condition 1 has been satisfied. Fire sales don't count :)
3. There is a good backlog of good exclusives. Again proving condition 1.
4. There is an extension cable for the Kinect - so it can be hooked up to a projector setup

Or MS pull something genuinely innovative and must-have out of their tech bag. Perhaps Fortezzlla (or whatever it is called) is genuinely amazing... unlikely I know. My money is on VR over AR. AR is great for mobile devices, but in the house VR is the winner for me.

For me.. I don't give a fuck about price, but I want to know the console I am getting has a future.

I don't care about Halo or Gears enough to care about those on release so I really don't know at one point it was KI. I guess being way cheaper like $99, so at the end of it's life I wouldn't be opposed to trying it out.
