Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Multiplayer World Premiere Coming August 11, 2014

With about 3 options of a competitive multiplayer game on my consoles where the community last longer than a month, of course I'll be buying the new COD.

Anyone else noticed that it seems aim-assist is off? They are missing so many shots, even in the reveal trailer.

Or maybe they are just bad.

The only bit that impressed me was this:

What game should they be looking at as an example?
Games with good maps and spawns that match them. COD4, MW2 and World at War had excellent maps and spawns which were conducive to head to head battles at varying ranges. Straight gun fights, hardly ever this shooting people in the back crap. They weren't perfect and each had their own problems but I think the base game was there, what the original IW had intended.
I think that's all gone now and these new gimmicks are put in place of actual good design. Or so it seems that way so far, I'll reserve final judgment.

Sports titles? THOSE.are reskinned rehashes.

CoD. Isn't and hasn't been rehashed in the same way those have. You'd have to be willifully ignorant to believe so. This bullshit of hating COD for illegitimate reasons is far worse than whatever bullshit the deb's make in the game.

I've bought COD every year since COD2, and it is precisely with first hand knowledge that I say that COD4 and, to a lesser extent, MW2 are the only two games since the series' popularity skyrocketed that brought a substantial number of changes to the table. The rest did nothing but tweak, retweak, balance and rebalance over and over the stuff that was already introduced by those two games. Sometimes this was done achieving a more balanced and enjoyable experience, sometimes not so much, but always working with the same basic formula, never changing too much, never adding too much. People fail to realize that, even if there exists a game in the series that they like and enjoy more than both COD4 or MW2, that one game, whichever it may be, would be a completely different thing if it hadn't been for those two games.

You are forgetting wager matches, branching storyline (which was very well done), pick 10 system (a big change), gun customisation, zombie mode (big one), strike force missions, Hard point was first seen in Black Ops 2, theatre mode, twitch and YouTube integration... All introduced in Black Ops. Plus the balance due to high TTK and good maps.

So yes you are wrong.

And yet, for all of the things that Treyarch introduced to the series, the basic core mechanics are all still inherited from the former IW's games. Treyarch has introduced many things, but they've always been scared to shake things up too much at the actual core of things. Pick 10, theatre, twitch and youtube do nothing when it comes to how multiplayer is actually played (emphasis on "multiplayer", because zombies or a deeper, more complex campaign are entirely different beasts of their own, and should be left out of the conversation when discussing multiplayer). Advanced Warfare is adding a whole new component to how the game plays competitively simply with the new jumping and evading mechanics. Whether this is something that works for the better or the worse still remains to be seen, but there is no denying that what we've seen today is more unique and deeper of a change than streaming your matches to your buddies or allowing you to pick four perks instead of three.

Busy at work most of the day, but I saw just enough of the video to realize I might give a shit about COD again.

For 2014 supposedly having no games, it's becoming increasingly hard on my wallet.

Am i the only one that's getting a Blops 2 feel from this??

Nope. I really felt throughout the whole presentation that these guys are really following in on Treyarch's footsteps (which I'm not too happy about, because Treyarch's games haven't ever been my cup of tea).

It looks like the first COD game I will pass. Take Ghost large maps with multi ways to get shot from behind, and now, add even more angles with vertical. Terrible...COD is best when it's a team head to head shootout at choke points. Not this Ghost 10X shit.

Looks interesting and that's more than I've cared about COD for a long time.

They certainly are wearing their influences (or plagiarisms) on there sleeve though.

Seems like shit. Doesn't matter what the objective is or what toys they add because it all comes down to running around the map in a circle without rhyme or purpose , having a Quickdraw contest to anybody you randomly bump into around a corner and hoping you're not shot in the back the entire time.

The devs need to learn the basics because these matches don't look like warfare, they look like what would happen if you gave weapons to all the inmates of an insane asylum.

Call of Duty is an Arena shooter, it never tries to be anything else. If you want realistic simulated warfare you should start looking else where.

The one thing that I am getting from impressions on sites, comment sections, and in chat is that ghosts did a shit load of damage to the series.

The maps seem quite a bit smaller to me. Do we know the map sizes?

Good god, the TTK is still so horrid. This game is just literally running in circles trying to get a kill combo, and then dying randomly by god knows what and how. I miss the hype I used to get watching a match unfold. The tsunami is just blah too, and the graphics/sound design just doesn't seem so great.

The map design, gun balance, and TTK all continue to bother me, and I'm sure those issues will persist.

I really miss COD4's TTK, and I'm not feeling the futuristic setting.

There's a space between arena shooter and realistic simulation......

CoD4 inhabited it very well.

In the presentation, they kept on referencing black ops 2 on everything: game design, pro community support, features, just stayed the hell away from ghosts.

This looks really interesting. The verticality and mobility of TitanFall, plus dynamic map events. It also feels like Crysis multiplayer with all the cloaking and speed with the nanosuit.

Nope.

When it comes to CoD multiplayer -

CoD 4: A
Excellent maps, excellent weapon balance, killstreaks weren't the priority, simple and clean fun. Good spawns. Killing and dying felt smooth and fair.

CoD Black Ops: A
Great maps, excellent weapon variety and balance, tons of customization, perks were balanced, killstreaks were fun to use. Great spawns. Best firefight gameplay in the series.

CoD 2: B+
Good maps, realistic weapon variety, sniping was way too OP. Good spawns. Tons of weapons that drop you fast, deaths seemed fair.

CoD MW2: C
Okay maps, decent weapon variety, bad weapon balancing, shift to killstreaks mattering a lot more. Good spawns. Die really fast.

CoD MW3: C
Good and terrible maps, weapon variety was really dull, good weapon balancing. The start of terrible spawning. Die even faster.

CoD Ghosts: C-
Good maps mixed in with the worst maps in the series, good weapon variety, really bad weapon balancing, nerfed killstreaks, worst hitboxes/latency in the series, worst spawns in the series, die the quickest. When the game works like it should fightfights and combat are really satisfying.

CoD 3: D (Couldn't connect to matches)

CoD WaW: D

Just felt like swimming in mud.

My man. This is perfect. Never understood waw love. Plus the weapons were boring and felt like BB guns..

Waant there a bops 2? Am I blind or crazy? Also would put mw2 a bit higher, bops had bad connection

The TTK is a bit annoying, but it's something I can deal with. Everything else looks good otherwise I think, but I'm keeping my expectations tempered.

Besides, Halo MCC is out the same month, so it's no big loss if AW turns out to be a stinker.

Maps have to be much larger to acommedate jet packs which you can clearly tell from what's shown. When I say "10X Ghost shit," it's not 10X larger maps, but 10X more directions to get shot from behind. Sorry, but killing someone just to get shot from behind over and over is not fun. That's why so many, in Ghost, so many people camp, waiting for someone to came, shoot them from behind / side, move to another spot and repeat. This game will be magnitude worst.

100% agreed so far.

This is both hilarious and accurate.

i miss cod 4 ttk too. I don't know how people put up with it. I'm watching ign game rat now, and honestly, the mulitplayer graphics don't look good too me. i know they can do better than that. maybe that player's compressed too or something
