Many people think that suicide is the coward's way out.

I say they've never been to the bottom of that pit. The crushing weight of it, the emptiness -- the only thing you have in the depth of your gut is a searing pain that you can't get rid of, like someone's stabbed you and twisted, like you're choking on something hot, like... It's difficult to describe. But no matter how simple another alternative may seem to the casual observer, to the person that has reached that moment of despair...

Let's just say that to them, there are no other alternatives. You can't see, you can't hear, or feel, or smell -- the only thing in your mind that overwhelms all is how much you just want to die and get it over with. You can have all the support of the world, but you feel distant, alone. You resent those around you because try as they might, they do not understand what is happening to you, even though you know it's not their fault, even though you feel it's you that is the defect - you resent them.

And when you think about death -- the one shining light in that pit of darkness -- you can't help but look forward to it. It's freedom, it's blissful. Maybe it's because of the unknown; you already know your life is shit, you're always depressed so you're a burden on all these people that love you and support you. Sure, it's going to hurt them that you're gone, but fuck, it's only going to be for a little while right? They'll get over you. They'll understand that you couldn't fight anymore. You just convince yourself that it's alright. You're doing nothing wrong. It's just following nature's way. It makes sense.

Personally I don't judge suicide victims.

Sure, there could be a situation in which it is "wrong" or "a mistake". Maybe there were other ways out, and more good times ahead, and you messed up by offing yourself too early.

But no one said this life was an obligation, and ultimately we all leave it anyway. If someone makes that decision to not want this life, and they take the initiative to end it themselves?.. I don't judge them.

That said, I will stop each and every one of you people from doing it because it's irreversable. I'd make sure you aren't able to make a hasty decision. Probably, there is hope beyond this moment, and you shouldn't do it....

Jeez. So unexpected. Of all the celebrities to die I would have never guessed Robin Williams, especially by the means in which he died from. Of course I didn't know the guy personally but he just seemed like the type of person who's always happy. It saddens me to see it was the opposite. :(

RIP Robin Williams

It's been the Gaming section thread that warned me about this, as soon as I saw the "In loving memory" in the title I checked this part of the forum and... :(

A tragic loss for his family and the world, RIP my Captain.

Ugh, awful news. I was a late 80s/early 90s kid so Williams was a huge figure in my childhood. Dead Poets Society, Mrs Doubtfire, Hook - I loved him when I was young. So sad that he felt he had to choose this route.

This is really going to make some of his roles that much more poignant. Watching Dead Poets again in particular will be hard.

Heard this news when I woke up briefly last night and couldn't get back to sleep for an hour.

An absolute tragedy and a total loss to everyone whose lives he touched. My thoughts are with his loved ones. RIP my Captain.

Just heard it and I'm totally shocked.
He's one of my heroes! Always will be!

Rest in Peace my friend

I feel really sad right now...

I saw him as a truly nice person with a good soul, giving positive energy to anyone who would be around him, these kind of people shouldn't go...

Oh man... of all recent celebrity deaths this is the hardest hitting one for me. He was one magnificent human being and as an actor he was irreplaceable. My condolences to his loved ones and may he rest in peace :'(
