Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 12: Gwah, hah. Welcome to the Bowser's game.

But that literally takes a few seconds if you know where you're going. So, no, I don't find that impractical or all that awful really. Sure, I would prefer the custom moves to be attached to or easily accessible from the CSS somehow, but that not being so doesn't make custom moves "dead" in my eyes. I think that's a dramatic overreaction.

But besides that, we don't even know for sure that's the case either way. This is just a case of some tournament players roasting Sakurai for something else that he might not have even "screwed up" yet because it's the popular thing to do.

To be sure, it is an overreaction to write custom moves off altogether. But that doesn't mean that there aren't legitimate concerns here, or that voicing those concerns amounts to blasting Sakurai for ruining the game.

When people have talked about custom moves being dead, they've meant dead at tournaments. Even if it only takes a few seconds to swap moves, when every single player is swapping moves between every single match, those few seconds really add up. And for casual play, perhaps you're just more patient than I, but even knowing exactly where to go, I certainly wouldn't want to go back to the My Music page and fiddle with it after every fight, especially if there are other people in the room who I'm keeping waiting. So if custom moves are similarly far away from the CSS, switching custom moves out all the time may well be more trouble than it's worth. That doesn't mean custom moves are dead altogether, just that they won't get used as often as they would if they were located in a more convenient place.

I don't think editing Miis or custom moves from the CSS is going to happen, nor do I think it's practical. That's a lot of menu heavy stuff to put on that screen, plus that slows the process of starting a match only slightly less than having separate menus for it.

Honestly, I think creating multiple profile names and having a stable of custom movesets and Miis is less cumbersome. Like, I'll just have "GBB1," "GBB2," and so on to house all my different customized stuff.

In this image, you can see someone's profile name (the kind that's been in Smash Bros. in the past), plus the little pencil icon that denotes that kind of thing. Would that not imply that Miis and custom moves are tied to those names, selectable from the CSS?

Hopefully!

So there's no hope of anything changing from the E3 build then...

JoeInky already made a mockup of a quick, easy to use customization screen for the CSS

Here's my bet: Customization is done on it's own menu, but you can quick select a specific custom moveset through the CSS screen through it being tied to a name or something similar. Probably the 3ds version will be able to transfer the custom sets you created to the wii u for bringing it over to someone else's house, and there will probably be another method as well. For tournaments, the whole issue could be solved by sending the tournament holders the movesets you'll be using in the tournament when you sign up so it can be set up ahead of time

Too slow is a huge problem?

It's only an additional menu.. oh well, I guess I have more patience than some.

On Wii U, at least, if you're in a party situation, with four players, and only 1-2 of you want to change custom moves, you'll have to convince everyone to be ok with you backing ALL the way out to the main menu, navigate around, change ONE thing, and then start back over.

It's the equivalent (as far as time is concerned) of toggling tap jump between every single match. Try doing that between every single match and see if your friends start to get annoyed. If it's not embedded into the CSS/SSS in some easily accessible manner, I don't see it being too useful. Maybe you find one that you like, and you continue to use it, then that would be fine, but if you like switching it up between rounds, it's not going to be great.

Alrighty!

Added!

That's because all of Jigglypuffs accessories would be considered female, along with the fact that it has 75% female ratio. Charizard has a higher male ration, and Greninja has an obvious masculine voice. That's my reasoning. :P

Will add ya!
Because, as we all know, clothing can only be worn by one gender.

Also, I'm pretty sure most Pokémon have the same cry regardless of gender.

But, whatever, I'm sure the tournament will be a blast even if we can't play with the other Pokémon.

Edit: Sorry for the double post.

That's why I put 'female' in italics.

But that has nothing to do with the cry, Greninja/Lucario/Mewtwo clearly have this male/masculine voice going for them.

Well, I hope that you do still enjoy the tournament. I want this to be a memorable one.

Added you to the list.

I only have a 3DS. :x
ah no wonder. I thought I did something wrong when I typed your Nintendo ID. :P

I haven't hold my 3DS for quite a while since I got wii u last weeks ago. The 3DS feels so small after using my wii u gamepad so much. lol

Edit: I added you on 3DS bat

I think every character customization will be linked to the names

Okay, so I have a lot of things down from what I thought of, all in some hours. I know it's still too early for things, I was just putting my thoughts down. Things aren't final, and neither is this complete. But I would love you guys to give me feedback on it, I want to make this into a great tournament for all of you.

Super Bash Sisters Tournament Post

I'm going to head to bed now, it's 5AM, and i'm sleepy as hell. I'll check back when I wake up.

It's okay Jedi, I completely understand. But if you ever change your mind, feel free to let me know! ^^

Count me in if there are any more available slots :)

Managed to intercept the ol' posty today before he knocked and woke my nan up.

I think my family would flip their collective shit if they found out I just went £100 deeper into my overdraft to get a single game 3 weeks early, the 3DS has now gone into hiding until I move out again.

Then I found out that I could get a Japanese 3DS with a built in capture card for £200, which is cheaper than sending mine in to the other guy to get it modded...

...Anyone want to buy a Japanese 3DS?

I'm actually half serious, still undecided whether I want to stream the 3DS version for only 2 months but I could see myself doing it in the end.

Wait wait wait...

I don't want to talk out of place here or get into business that isn't my own, but I do want to make sure I'm understanding you correctly. Are you saying you spent money you don't have, pushing your bank account deeper into the negative. As in, it was already negative and you charged more to it?

Please tell me that's not what you're saying.

And all that for the inferior version of a game that he never stops telling us how much he's gonna dislike lol

Haha. Yeah, I'll eventually get a Wii U one day and add you then. ^^

You better get used to it! You'll need it for when you go against me. ;P

Awesome! Will add you in a bit.

I'm in as female Robin or Palu.

I got you down already Moonlight. :3 But maybe I should everyone's characters down?

I can't find your post explaining what it is, but I'm in if it's something cool.

If it's a Smash 3DS tournament I'm going to be playing Lucina!

Yes there is! Added! ^^

I have a graduate account with a £2000 interest free overdraft for 2 years (2nd year it's only up to £1000 interest free though).

I'm about £400 into my overdraft after buying the 3DS.

The way I see it, there's no way it's not going to be paid in 2 years. My income at minimum is £300 a month until I can find a job (which I can't really at the moment considering I'm moving out in a few weeks).

Yep, I'd still probably pay double what I have already to get the capture card just to stream it for 2 months with no regrets.

Then that's a long list of names if you really get into customizing, unfortunately. Inky's solution is one of the best. At worst, it's one extra button press, at best, it means i'm more likely to actually use custom moves.

Please smash responsibly! Be careful man.

Also, for 3DS friend codes, I added everyone on the list as of a few weeks back, please add me back if you haven't. :) There are still 15-20 of you who have not added me back. Also, when I get my japanese 3DS in, I'll need to add all of you getting the japanese version. :) (once the US version comes out, i'm dropping it like it's hot)

The way I see it, there's no way that isn't going into debt to play a video game a few weeks early. A decent amount of it too. All while planning to move out of your parents and acquire additional monthly expenses.

Listen, I'm not going to say that's a bad plan, but everything about what you just said is a bad plan.

Super Bash Sisters Tournament?

I'd love to join, but when this game comes out I'll be back in college and I can't play games over WiFi there. School blocks it :(

That's only what you say, though.

But what would Uncle Jesse do?

Your school sucks!

But when I lived in the dorms I had to use a portable hotspot on my phone because I couldn't connect my DS on the enterprise wireless, so I guess I'm in no spot to criticize.

I know that it's technically a bad plan, but it's a plan I think I can easily manage.

I was £1200 into my overdraft about 4 months ago because I bought a new PC with practically no money, a month ago I was at +£60 or so but then I started buying n64 stuff, a capture card and a Japanese 3DS that's put me back in the red again.

I'll be out of it again in a month or two no problem, and if it ever got truly bad I have a sizable game collection that could quite easily get me out of it, though I'd rather die than get rid of my collection so I'm not going to let it get to that stage.

Ok man, just watch yourself. Stimpy thought he could manage the debt he owed to the mob, and we all know what happened to him.

I forget about greninja but IIRC most Charizards and Lucario's are male. So the assumption that one is male woudn't be too far fetched because most of them are and the male end espcially in lucario situation is the one they push for summer slam.

I believe jigglypuff is the opposite.
