PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | August 2014

I had no idea this was coming out. That's...an odd choice for the PS4.

Top of page? Buy Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds, people!
I'm preaching to the choir at this point, aren't I?

Your post made me buy it.

What about Akiba's Trip? Should I buy it on PS4 or Vita..? Does the Vita version have technical issues?

Sony somehow talked less about the Vita at Gamescom than E3. That's pretty impressive actually

See guys? I told you that the 2014/08/12 is the day to celebrate Sega releasing (the very short) PS Nova demo, not for gamescom,

I didn't expect anything, but skimming over what was announced, I'm glad I actually slept through it. I'll probably watch some of the "indie" trailers shown later.

At least we have TGS to go still, right?

right...?

My heart says yes, but my head keeps saying no. We just have to accept that the Vita is a hidden gem for those who are into RPGs and such. Doesn't get exposure, but it sure will keep on getting games.

Don't hope for TGS. PS4 is "selling abyssal" in Japan because there's "no games". And they'll need to move against that. Whether it's just plain marketing for existing games or announcement for new games.

If they ever hold another "Playstation conference" like last year, it'd be most likely for the PS4.

Train your mind: "Gravity Daze 2 will not be for Vita."

At this point, only game I am waiting for that was announce in last year's PS Conference is Kantai Collection. Which... unfortunately, seems like it's going to early next year due to the animu air date. Hopefully, we actually get info on that unlike how they're dealing with Love Live.

(On that note, the "3 person" performances of Love Live School Idol Paradise seems to have a different model than the "9 person performances". That said, I'm still disappointed at the song count.

6 common to all games, 4 exclusive songs per volume, and 2 free songs distributed as DLC. That's... what? 10+2...

I'm quite sure Love Live has a fuck lot more songs than that. :/)

Im pretty sure gravity daze 2 will be a ps vita title. PS vita is doing well in Japan and launches like freedom wars demonstrate that . so gravity daze will also be a vita title. What I'm afraid is that maybe we will never see it localized.

I'm sure this was probably brought up already but there's a special Sega "festival" sale going on in Japan right now.

Features:

Vanquish - 500円
Binary Domain - 500円
Kurohyou - 500円
Sakura Wars 1 & 2 - 500円
Valkyria Chronicles 2 - 500円
Valkyria Chronicles 3 - 980円

Time to get VC 2 & 3!!

Uh isn't VC2 like $10 on US PSN? It even runs on Vita. VC3 for $10ish sounds tempting a bit...

Is it just me imagining things, but during the microsoft conference i notised that games like "below" that was called exclusive before was renamed to "first on console on Xbox". Could this mean that some of the smaller games that was in that reel could come to the Vita in the future?

Edit: hopefully we'll get some gameplay footage from Flame over and Frozen synapse:prime from the floor.

Edit2: and don't forget that games like http://www.codagames.com/liege/ is coming to the vita as well

Got Magic Carpet. It's not as good as the PC version (I have that version too) but it's fun to play on the vita.

I'm building up my PsOne games. How is the PsOne populous game they made in the magic carpet engine? Never got to play it.

There's a "good chance" it's still a Vita, but you gotta expect the worstworstEST~

"Sony not talking about Vita games in a Gamescom conference" wasn't even in my "worst things they could do" list, so they did just break that. :/

Vita will continue to get titles from small to middle sized companies in Japan. But IMO, those that strongly involve Sony will probably be far and few between.

Freedom Wars is a bad example, it's a MH clone and therefore only exists to be put on a handheld.

The PS4 is doing really bad in Japan right now, so it's very likely that Japan Studio will be put full throttle on PS4 dev from now on, for anything that isn't a MH clone.

Soul Sacrifice Delta worth it at $17?

Y/N
yes
(im bias)

Considering how negative things got with the lack of Vita news (...and taking one of the only major exclusives it has an putting it on the PS4....), what was your guy's games of the show?

For me.....it is a thee-way tie between Rime, Wild and Tearaway Unfolded.

Rime continues to look amazing and has the potential to be a really fun game :D. Wild is an open world, online game made by the minds behind the Rayman games....what is not to love :). That will be really creative, so I can't wait to see more of that. Then we have Tearaway Unfolded.

Its odd, as I feel really conflicted about this game :(. One one hand, I'm thrilled more people will experience this classic and we get another chance to go into the world of Tearaway :D. Love the game and it was my GOTY last year :). However.....I can't help but also be really pissed off by the game coming to PS4 :(. Not that it will be bad on the system (MM seems to have a good idea on how to properly adapt the game onto the PS4; the new mechanics look a lot of fun :D), but it feels like a kick in the face to Vita owners. Taking one of the very few games that uses the hardware effectively and bringing the game to another console.....feels a bit weird :l.

Still happy we get to see more of Tearaway though and I hope this means the IP will only become bigger and more important to Sony :D. I think the IP can take the 'Kirby' role for Sony, similar to how 'Ratchet' covers the Mario role for them :D; Kirby always if famous for his high-quality spin-off games that really break the mold for gameplay (Pinball, Golf, Racing, Touch-Based 2D Platformer, ect). If Tearaway can be the IP for Sony that fits this part well and each game in the series can fully use each PS Console to its maximum potential, that would be amazing :D.

Vita game backups are eating my hard drive like the cookie monster on a Colorado road trip.
