He's arguing that K. Rool doesn't fit in because he's a monkey, especially when compared to how groups of lesser-known characters from other series are clearly from said series. Importance and relevancy is a factor in his argument.
 
If you're going to give Link a daughter, don't give her a stupid name like Linkel. That just feeds into the female Link bullshit. Give her her own name. It's for the best this didn't happen anyway.

His weird godzilla grunts are like a holdover from Melee where he was noticeably different from how he appears in Mario, so it's kinda odd he still has them when he looks more consistent.

Bowser is relevant and popular everyone knows bowser. this only applies to obscure boss characters that have been abandon even though franchise has been rebooted and successful

I'm already anticipating a little pushback with my decision to combine certain characters as one choice, but to be fair there's no "right" way to do it, so their argument is just as valid as my choices were. Hopefully it'll be create more fun conversations and less character superiority chatter.

The following all share the same spot on the poll choices: Zelda/Sheik, Samus/Zero Suit Samus, Mario/Dr. Mario, and Link/Young Link/ Toon Link. It was a tough call, but because this poll is about more than just play style, I thought combining characters who are technically the same person into one spot would be better than having votes for a character be fractured between variants. The three Links were the hardest call, as technically could be viewed as two different characters, but I felt that on a surface level they are all "Link", so I grouped them together.
 
While it's true that Link/ToonLink/YoungLink might have watered down link's votes (Link fans have their votes divided by 3), Zamus and Sheik might as well have always been entirely different roster slots, so they'll have almost entirely different fanbases (Samus fans get added to ZSS fans, etc. potentially almost doubling her votes).

If I had to guess, Samus/ZSS is the winner overall, because of this. Who knows, though.

True, but because gameplay isn't the only factor I decided it would work best to combine them; it really was a hard call. I was thinking of doing another poll for the Wii U's release that includes the newcomers, so depending on the feedback from this poll I may change up the way the characters are divided.

Coloring Sonic gold and making it a "tails" recolor is Deviantart level.

They started off with a strict costume mantra that they had to be based on the character, and had to exist before Brawl. They were guidelines I think helped keep the mod professional and on track, and I think a bit of that professionalism is fading with random meaningless recolors.

I'm pretty sure that those rules were meant for skins, not color pallets. Besides, it's not like Vanilla Smash Bros doesn't already have this kind of shit (Wario!Mario, Daisy!Peach, Sigurd!Ike, etc.). Hell, isn't SSB4 ALREADY adding a Silver!Sonic pallet?
