That video reminds me of WWF Raw on Xbox for some reason
What makes 2k14 laughable...there are flaws and exploits but overall it brings everything No Mercy did to the table plus more. Complaints about 2k14 remind me of people complaining about Halo 4. Apparently that game sucks compared to Halo 3 because you can run (because why should you be able to run in a war game?? blasphemy!), and because there are ordinance drops (even tho you can play matchmaking without them). Meanwhile, I cant go back to Halo 3 at all. And whos to say AKI would still make a better wrestling game. THier last wrestling game was shit. Let go of the past ppl, 2k is your new king just deal with it.
Ah yeah, a two button system would be good. One for strikes and grapples maybe. Maybe even instead of just pressing RT you'd have to modify by holding RT and pressing A to reverse a grapple, or RT + X to reverse a strike.
I just really like the dynamic of one player going for a finisher that gets reversed. It's a hype moment

2k14 is good to laugh at, but it's not fun unless you're fucking up tabnles off ladders and the like.
I do think some of the strike animations can be a little janky especially the quick strikes and combinations thats about it though. overall the 2k games animation is a lot better than no mercy.
At some point, they are going to have to bite the bullet and just skip a year and ditch the engine
Building on top of it, doesn't solve the problem.
It doesn't, the system needs to be much deeper. I mean I have so many options if someone comes at me with a strong grapple in No Mercy. I can hit A to slide round the back for a back grapple, hit L to break it and stun them to do my own thing or if it's right at the start of the match, I can let him try and hit a move as I'm likely to hit a nice reversal.
i used to love DOR but for some reason i grew tired of the gameplay faster than any otehr game cant explain it.yeah the move cancelling could use some work but thats the only real critisicm for 2k series youve had so far is. everything else reeks of nostalgic bias bro.Day of Reckoning 2 is the real king though. Similar grapple system and REAL interruptible moves. I hate multi-man matches in Smackdown games as if someone goes for a move, I can't interrupt it. Then they finally added it in WWE '12 or SDvR 11 and I was pumped again and... They just kind of drop them and no sell it. Hell, in DoR2, I've brogue kicked people in mid air going for a knee drop and it looks like it has proper impact. It's just no sold in this series.
8GB of RAM and they still need those dumb immersion breaking loading screens between ring entrances. Why?
you can do all that in 2k14 lol and more. From a grapple you can go to 2 other front grapples or slide around to the back, perform a grapple strike unique to the grapple position your in, hit a strong strike, grab them by the head and drag them to the turnbuckle/ropes and also irish whip
Gameplay looks exactly the same as 2k14. I'll still get this for my casual WWE fix but my birthdays October 13th so I'll likely ask for this and save some money.
21 years old and still playing fucking WWE games when I don't watch the shows anymore.
Probably so they don't need to program the wrestler who came out first to go to their position (either the corner or outside the ring or whatever) while the other guys entrance plays.
A simple loading screen even just for a few seconds can be used to teleport the first wrestler to their position.
Not making excuses, just answering the question, "Why?"
The TL;DR version is obviously either "Lazyness" or "They didn't want to devote resources to something that small, screw immersion". Take your pick.
Graphically it looks good. I can't judge the gameplay much because the video is just straight button mashing.

That grapple system sounds HORRIBLE. This was going to be the first WWE game I bought since '07. Hype is completely gone.
Also cross-gen. Looking at the footage, it does seem like they've pasted new graphics over the old engine. At least as far as the canned animation on Cesaros slams go.
I think it... actually ... looks kinda good?
It certainly feels like there's a bit of Yukes clunkiness in there but it looks playable. Which is a big step up from WWE 12, 13, and 2k14.
Well, I think this looks fantastic.
Seeing some other gameplay impressions that mention having to crawl to the ropes to pull yourself up when severely damaged and crawling for a one armed cover after a finisher which sounds awesome.
It's too canned is the main problem with the animation, there's no flow to it. The actual move itself can look great, but then you're just back to standing like a still, motionless mannequin for a second or two before it starts registering movement again. No Mercy does a few things to hide this, like kneeling taunts and rolling away after your move and DoR has similar traits. Fixing that should have been priority #1 several years ago since it's a hangover from when they used to hide it by having those moves that teleport you to a position in the ring.
They apparently have five times more animations for this but it's obvious that some of the old ones in there.
I still want to see gameplay from someone who doesn't punch at the air.

So what's your stance on selling, recovery, and the running/stamina in general? Yukes used to have this instance in the series where you can hold down a button to keep from getting up, and you will once you release it. But they have since removed that and it some times may lead to grief, whether intentional or not. Say you're wrestling somebody and they hit a finisher, you kick out, but you get up right beside them so they can quite easily hit another move or even another finisher on you. That is okay to you? You could not roll away or shield yourself while you are getting up. That's one thing those AKI games did great, and what these Yukes games need to adopt.i used to love DOR but for some reason i grew tired of the gameplay faster than any otehr game cant explain it.yeah the move cancelling could use some work but thats the only real critisicm for 2k series youve had so far is. everything else reeks of nostalgic bias bro.
I liked the part where Cesaro was on a knee as he was getting up and Orton punched him in the back..looked very real.
Game moves just like WWE 2K14. Y'all jabronis need to stop doing this to yourself.
What about VPW2? KoC2? FPR?
What about VPW2? KoC2? FPR? 2K14 isn't even close to the greatness that is those wrestling games.
Oh no, I'm talking specifically about reversals there. Like someone comes into me for a grapple and I have those options for reversals rather than just hitting RT at the right time.
As for nostalgia bias, I don't mind. It'll save me £40 at the end of the day while still having fun with what I enjoy![]()
KoC2 is probably my favorite wrestling game of all time, and I think 2K14 is close.

Game looks ridiculously good graphics wise, gameplay was somewhat disappointing.
hopefully it looks better for WWE 2K16 so I can get the Mr Wrestlemania editionpretty sure he's the only worthy legend left to not get something

Seriously fuck you for daring to ever claim something like that. That's a Goddamn lie, and you know it.
