We've seen this happen in this very thread.

As I've said, the responses from people who are blowing this off or making light of the situation are an echo of the american mainstream. That's why this hotbed of activity will ultimately change nothing.

I'd have to agree unless more violence breaks out. What will likely happen now is both sides will behave themselves and this will fade away. But it will be added to the list of grievances that anyone who's paying attention is keeping track of, and thus will have served its ultimate purpose going forward.

Sorry, I probably misspoke. As someone who has struggled with depression and alcoholism I think Robin Williams is a great example of how everything can seem great on the outside when really someone is facing serious issues on the inside. It's important and has affected me as well. In a way though I feel it's overshadowed a more serious issue the nation has in general, I guess that's all I was trying to say. I don't think that's anyone's fault but the media and perhaps timing.
