Are you referring to tonight or since Michael Brown was shot? The police chief was quoted as saying that but it's entirely bullshit. No one outside of police has done any damage or any violent action.

This can't be serious.
I wasn't excusing him, just predicting what will happen when/if he does come out in support of the protestors. It'll be like the second coming for the right wing media.
Cops need to be forced to wear cameras. That would solve so many problems.
What the fuck.

I'm not sure if you can definitely say that he's mocking the protestors based on this image alone but it's still a great picture.
What's this from? Furguson today?
That would deal with a lot of incidents to be sure, but at this stage in the proceedings what I really think is that our cops need to be outfitted with equipment proportionate to the kind of activity they're likely to face. Ferguson has what, 20,000 people? Why the hell did they need a small army's worth of military grade vehicles and equipment?
A hero on our frontlines against evil.

He was asked why they needed a mine-resistant vehicle and he said that a lot of people are bombing nowadays. A city of 21,000 people and a police force made up of exactly 53 officers needs a mine-resistant vehicle. I didn't know ISIS had come to Ferguson.
I know what the chief/sheriff was asked. I also know what the poster I replied to said - which was complete bullshit. There has been damage done to people and property by people other than police. That is indisputable. He was asked why they needed a mine-resistant vehicle and he said that a lot of people are bombing nowadays. @KyleStrunk: As a cop..this ferguson response is getting hard to watch..no leadership at all. Chief was about as lost a leader as I have ever seen today
He doesn't need it. However the Pentagon/DOD gives it to them, for free.

Not so great, PR-wise: MT @YourAnonNews: #Ferguson Police Chief Fitch Studied Counter-Terrorism in Israel with IDF

Yeah, and how many people pay attention to the DoJ?Yeah, it's not like he has anything else on his plate. Shame the DoJ isn't investigating, oh wait.

Yeah, so.... Yeah. (I really hate to quote Anon)

i feel like using that anywhere outside this thread would be super inappropriate, but it's good for here lol.
The fucking military industrial complex is so broken. Emphasis on the industrial, this is what happens when people are financially motivated to sell as much equipment as possible in perpetuity.
A vital element in keeping the peace is our military establishment. Our arms must be mighty, ready for instant action, so that no potential aggressor may be tempted to risk his own destruction.
Our military organization today bears little relation to that known by any of my predecessors in peacetime, or indeed by the fighting men of World War II or Korea.
Until the latest of our world conflicts, the United States had no armaments industry. American makers of plowshares could, with time and as required, make swords as well. But now we can no longer risk emergency improvisation of national defense; we have been compelled to create a permanent armaments industry of vast proportions. Added to this, three and a half million men and women are directly engaged in the defense establishment. We annually spend on military security more than the net income of all United States corporations.
This conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. The total influence -- economic, political, even spiritual -- is felt in every city, every State house, every office of the Federal government. We recognize the imperative need for this development. Yet we must not fail to comprehend its grave implications. Our toil, resources and livelihood are all involved; so is the very structure of our society.
In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the militaryindustrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.
We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.
Is it? Saw it lumped in with other Ferguson vines from today. Either way, gross.
Good.@PresReed: I've secured legal representation for @AntonioFrench and @TefPoe. Citizen journalism must continue. #Ferguson

Shitty criticism.
Ongoing situation vs concluded event.
Uhh he responded once already.
When the press is banned and arrested, march to where the press is. Sounds good.‏@PzFeed DEVELOPING: Protesters now heading to the Ferguson Police station. Police threatening mass arrests, protesters just continue walking.

The second half of that section always gets left off for some reason...Eisenhower knew, all those decades ago...
Akin to, and largely responsible for the sweeping changes in our industrial-military posture, has been the technological revolution during recent decades.
In this revolution, research has become central; it also becomes more formalized, complex, and costly. A steadily increasing share is conducted for, by, or at the direction of, the Federal government.
Today, the solitary inventor, tinkering in his shop, has been overshadowed by task forces of scientists in laboratories and testing fields. In the same fashion, the free university, historically the fountainhead of free ideas and scientific discovery, has experienced a revolution in the conduct of research. Partly because of the huge costs involved, a government contract becomes virtually a substitute for intellectual curiosity. For every old blackboard there are now hundreds of new electronic computers.
The prospect of domination of the nation's scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present and is gravely to be regarded.
Yet, in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientifictechnological elite.
It is the task of statesmanship to mold, to balance, and to integrate these and other forces, new and old, within the principles of our democratic system -- ever aiming toward the supreme goals of our free society.
@blackink12: The wife of @AntonioFrench said he's being booked now. He was apparently arrested for getting out of his car against officers' wishes
".@BarackObama issued a poignant statement on Robin Williams' death within two hours. This is NIGHT FIVE of riots in #Ferguson."
That wasn't sarcasm on my part. A bit of ironic cynicism sure, but not sarcasm. I'm happy to see the marches and protests continue because justice is on their side.So they should do nothing?
