MGSV for PC officially confirmed

VR. What would $1000 get you? Just curious because I spent close to that amount not long ago

My current rig:

i7 4790k
AMD Radeon HD 7970
16 GB Corsair vengence black DDR3 1600
Gigabyte h97n mobo
850W PSU
case: antec ISK 600

It mainly runs elite at max settings at a pretty constant 75 fps. I get some microstutter when I enter hyper space, but for the most part it's been very consistent. I didn't have to buy my PSU since I reused it, and I had been using the video card for months already on a previous build (as it's the first component I bought for this new build, back when it first launched), so I'm not sure the total current price, but I think it was around $1000 or so.

Lol, awesome!

ToraShiro, please encourage whomever is in charge to release the legacy collection, or atleast the HD collection on steam aswell. I'm sure a lot more people would be willing to play mgsv with a bit more context...

You can't base your PC port expectations on how Rising was ported.

Different engine and different dev team.
this is correct.

however, this is not a negative thing. the fox engine was designed to work on pc from conception, platinum's engine had to be manually ported. as for the team, i assume there are more people on the pc version at kojipro than the 8-15 people who did the rising port at platinum.

it's safe to be optimistic about the port quality.

Now modders just have to get Hayter to do the VA for Snake and they can replace Sutherland themselves.

edit - Just saw people said this already on the first page lol.

Yeah poor Kiefer people are allready planning for it it will probably be one of the first mods that will be released :)

Ugh, I want to be playing Ground Zeroes now. Konami please.

Hopefully they talk more about the PC version before gamescom ends and don't leave it at "soon" for 7 months like they did with Revengence as JaseC mentioned.

System requirements probably aren't going to be too high. It's still a cross-gen game afterall. Max settings will probably be identical to the PS4 version (which, as nice as it looks, isn't the best-looking PS4 game. It still looks very PS3 even), possibly with better AA and AF. I'm expecting a straight console port here, and I'm fine with that.

It's baffling how little talking Big Boss does in this game. What's the point of hiring a big Hollywood voice actor if he's too expensive to have say very much?

Even if fans somehow get a Hayter voice track to mod into the game, he'll barely have any fucking lines to say.

He talks a lot more in the audio tapes you find but in the context of the main mission it's really odd. There's just not the constant interplay between you and your codec partner that you've come to expect from the series. Hopefully that won't be the case in V.

And there goes my only reason right now to get a PS4. Final Fantasy and Silent Hills next to be confirmed?

Hopefully

Revengeance is a completely different case since it was being handled by PlatinumGames themselves and not KojimaProductions.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2015 is running on FOX Engine as well and is being released worldwide on the same date. I assume that TPP will be released simultaneously, too, and that Ground Zeroes will come to PC early spring 2015.

I meant more specifically Ground Zeroes as they said it would come to the platform soon. And that would actually be about 7 months because Spring 2015 starts in March so I hope not :P

This reminds me that I bought a PS3 for MGS4. (Well, for MGS4 and the promise of future exclusives, but the initial game I got with it was MGS4)

I'm really happy for PC community! I'll be getting MGSV on PS4, but I see no point in keeping multiplatform title only on consoles.

I bought a PS3 for Metal Gear Solid 4 and the promise of The Last Guardian and Final Fantasy versus XIII.

... then I ended up disliking MGS4...

fucking amazing.

cant wait for this shit to release. may need a graphics card upgrade in the future.

edit: oh shit, silent hills is PC too? yessss

so like 2 people can buy it? whats the point. and it's 99% will be with delay after console versions release.

What was this guy thinking? What was he defending? This game was not a PS4 exclusive so why the hostility towards PC getting the game? Because it would look & play better than on consoles?

I don't understand. Why do you even post such thing. It makes no sense. MGS2 was officially released on the PC. MGS1 as well.

Because the game now has to be developed with dozens of videocards in mind optimization will be ruined and the PS4 version will suffer, along with the game as a whole. Shame that selfish PC gamers are so happy about hurting the quality of the game, enjoy I guess.

I really did think this was going to come to Steam a year later with a Ground Zeros/Phantom Pain double pack in.

I'm going to have to put down an uncomfortable amount of money on GZ.

Crazy and awesome to see how many of my steam friends already have this in their wishlists. I have a feeling this will sell really really well on pc

My PC isn't bad, but still think my PS4 is slightly more powerful, so will probably get it on there unless there are any amazing PC exclusive features.

I feel this way as well. As odd as it is, I might prefer having a "trainer" game in this instance? I mean, I don't want the experience of The Phantom Pain being all muddied up by the typical assessment and readjustment process of learning a new game that extends past what tutorials usually cover. If I'm already adjusted to the flow and particulars of MGS5, I feel like I'll have a better time with The Phantom Pain. It's also true of figuring out what the best graphics settings for my computer and preferences are without being in the middle of a story campaign. GZ should really pave the way for full immersion and engagement.

Um yeeeeaahhhh... that's not how PC gaming works anymore.

I added these to my wishlist (Australian Steam) in the morning now I got home to check what date if any are listed and they are gone and I can't search it :( wtf?

EDIT: The plot thickens, they are back :O

My biggest worry is whether it will be a good PC version. I'm fed up with likes of AC4 and Watch Dogs. As per default, you can't go completely wrong with the PS4 version.

I think he was being sarcastic. I hope.

Such butthurt.

Firstly, the game was already being developed for multi platforms, if anything will 'harm' the PS4 version it'll be the fact that it's crossgen with PS3 and 360 versions.

The PC version will be the definitive version of the game and better than any optimised PS4 version could ever be, if anything its existence will help bump up the quality of all versions.

You're upset because the PS4 won't be the best version anymore and venting like a sulking kid, it's so obvious.

He was being facetious.
