After seeing they want to know your password, ip address, email, age, location etc and will perma ban you for using mods even on old games like bl2, I won't be buying this.

Love me some Borderlands.
Odd to see Sony promote it so heavily - seems their cupboard really would put Mother Hubbard to shame at the moment.

Are you really comparing a nostalgia imbued remake of one of the best games from the PS1 era and a game which is part of one of the biggest multimedia IPs out there, with fucking borderlands?

It peaked with BL2 long time ago and BL3 is awful, so much so you have to mute all dialogue to enjoy the gunplay which is the only good thing about that mess of a game 🤦‍♂️
I knew this thread would've gone this way regardless (because it's a hardocre bubble board to a degree), but for a reality check:
Borderlands 4 will probably sell gangbusters. By 2023, BL3 has sold over 18 million copies and it's a major trump card for holiday season marketing wise, especially since other looter shooters are kinda dead (sorry, Destiny 2).

Plus I guess it's a price for GTA VI marketing deal too.

I'm comparing it with the sequel of a game that sold ~8M units in 3 months.

"hurr durr my personal opinion is relevant in this conversation", no one gives a fuck.
If anything it's because Sony has been extremely quiet this year as far as 1st party titles.

Outside of Days Gone and Marathon (a remaster and a GAAS) The ONLY 2025 title that Sony has even mentioned is the Ghost of Yotei release date, and even then it was announced in a lackluster way.

Playstation owners are "hungry" for new titles this year, and it's already going into May...and the next SOP is...a Mid Multiplatformer?? You can see how Playstation owners may be a bit miffed at Sony and their handling of 2025 thus far...but yea, like you said "E3 season" is coming...and hopefully they have something of actual substance to show for the 2nd half of 2025
There are no new titles (from Sony). They put most of their resources into gaas shit and most of those games were canceled. It will take years to recover from these mistakes, probably PS6 launch will be a banger though.
Lost Soul Aside - May 30th
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach - June 26th
Not today, fellas. Maybe there's another Switch 2 pricing thread out there that's more of your pace.

Completely forgot about Death Stranding 2...that should tell you everything about how Sony is handling 2025...but yes, if you are a DS fan (as I am) that is a definite must-get Banger of 2025.

Not sure how the Market-at-large feels about this release tho...

Ok, I didn't say it flopped, I said it was trash, everyone got duped into buying it because BL2 was that good back in the day

BL4 looks more like 3.5, so more of the same but worse, about the marketing deal, fair enough, but a SoP just to for that 1 game is disappointing

I enjoyed 1 and 2 running and jumping around with a sniper rifle doing quickscope 180-360 spin headshots. Very fun shooter games. 3 setting and cast was very lame, lets see, if they get back to form with 4.

You know its wild when this gets more of a reaction, then this State Of Play news lol

I haven't played this series since the first one, but respect to those how love it doing their whole gun RPG thing lol

If they are doing a State Of Play for this, we better get a fuck ton more this year then if something like this is getting its own State Of Play

What exactly does you forgetting about it tell me? I'm also pretty sure I mentioned another game besides DS2.

You should care about the games, not what the ""market at large"" could feel about it.

Gearbox games are the only ones that if you check 'I'm 18 or older' when starting, they block you from playing. 😎

That they (Sony) should do a better job at marketing/messaging. The fact that an actual Death Stranding fan forgot the Death Stranding Sequel game is releasing next month says a lot...and I keep up with current gaming news (unlike casuals)

Agreed, and I do...but I'm sure Sony and Kojima Productions would want more than just hardcore DS fans excited and anticipated to plunk $70 down next month for their title..

Edit: Death Stranding 2 releases in June, not May (my point still remains)

Sorry... but, it quite literally doesn't.
You ""forgot"" that DS2 was coming in 2025 AT ALL, and not just in June, so you either didn't really count the game as a Sony release (it is), or you forgot that the game was slated for this year, which is pretty weird for someone who claims to be a DS fan; something I wouldn't deny that you could be, so I'm personally going with the former here.

My argument is that;

1. If an actual enthusiast of gaming AND Fan of Death Stranding was able to forget that Death Stranding 2 exists and is releasing in mere weeks, what does that say about Sony's promotions/marketings and the average/casual gamer that does not visit forums or keep up with the latest gaming news?

2. The fact that even here, on GAF, you were basically the first one to point out "Oh yea, Death Stranding 2 exists guys"...

3. Sony is doing a not-so-great Job at promoting it's 1st party offerings for the year thus far and beyond...but again, I acknowledge that it's only April and am hopeful for the next 2-3 months of announcements.

Well, the only thing I have to say is that you basically acknowledged the reason for this on your third point. It's still coming in whole two months, the marketing will come close to release.

This doesn't prove much considering how stingy GAF is when it comes to Sony games. Some people here would rather fucking die than admitting that DS2 is a first-party game.

These games are only good purely because they have local co-op, if it wasn't for that my interest would not exist.

Not enough games support local co-op these days so will buy.

Is Borderlands "mid"? Yikes. I wouldn't say so. Not based on anything empirical, anyway

Borderlands 4 looks completely fucking soulless and are we still really giving Pitchford air time? I haven't forgiven him for what he did to SEGA and the Alien franchise or Duke Nukem and that doesn't even begin to cover the contents of the USB drive that was found.

Sony makes State of Plays for third party games now? I'll watch it for sure, I love Borderlands but BL3 has made me cautious. If only they could nail the tone to be the same like the first BL game.
