State of Play Confirmed for April 30 (Borderlands 4 Only)

That's fair. I don't think this year is going to be it unless they decide to start showing things farther than a year out.
If only we hadn't lost so much precious development time languishing into GaaS they'd prolly have more to show by now this far into the generation. What a shame. Truly.

What does Marathon have to do with it? They're completely different games. Also it was just announced it's being pushed up two weeks. It's not 9/12, not 9/25. It's a chess move to get out of the way of GTA, surely, not Marathon, if anything.
I didn't see the thread about B4 getting pushed forward.

Well, if B4 kept its intended release date it would be competing for consumer attention/money, marketing space, word of mouth etc. I guess that isn't much of an issue anymore.

a whole 20 minutes state of play.....just for a stagnant IP?

Yeah like I said, they've done it before for major tentpole releases like this. Don't really know what else there is to say. I'm not the one hosting it, I'm just pointing out the information. BL is a huge IP. Each installment is a ~20+ million seller.

I really like borderlands. 3 wasn't quite what I wanted but it was still a good game.

I'm looking forward to see what 4 has for us

This Borderlands State of Play was initially dated for May back in February, so them moving it up on the schedule does suggest to me that they might want all spotlights next month to be focused on a Showcase, perhaps.

Back in 2022, they hosted the Hogwarts Legacy State of Play about a week after a regular State of Play show, so they wouldn't be moving things around on this scale for yet another SoP.

weird for a third party game isnt it?
Technically, they showed third-party games in their previous State of Play. But if you mean a State of Play for only a single third-party game, then yes.
Nope. It's actually not weird at all. In the PS5 generation they've done it several times. Showcasing a specific major third-party game in a SoP format for just that game. Hogwarts Legacy, Suicide Squad, etc. Usually in April, too. Neither weird nor unusual.

The Hogwarts Legacy one was actually pretty cool. It's what sold me on the game.

An earlier release date huh? From the 29th to the 11th... GTA 6 is coming
For sure. T2 owns BL and GTA, right? I'm sure the change was to accommodate space for both games to be able to breathe.

That is until Nintendo stomps in with whatever they announce at their usual June Direct that pays zero attention to what other publishers are doing. 😂

Borderlands had such good will and people loved it. I even know a guy with a borderlands tattoo. The takes on this series have changed so dramatically. People hate it now, and I bet it was Tiny Tina that did it.

I wonder with them moving up their delivery date, if they have knowledge from their old friends at 2K as to when GTA6 will launch and they are trying to get out in front a bit more.

…Neither is all of May or the first 2/3 of June.
Sooo… What was your original point, exactly? You were hoping that this wouldn't count as Sony's summer showcase, which didn't make sense. This SoP wouldn't be Sony's summer event, because May doesn't start the summer season. I don't think… Any publisher has referred to their June events as, "summer" if they're scheduled before the 20th.

So what? I don't play "sales".
So, while sales don't always indicate quality they give a pretty good idea of sentiment regarding a title and the fact is that Borderlands 3 was a overwhelmingly massive success and a beloved entry into a beloved series (despite what the neckbeards at this site will tell you). Also, to the people who think people hate Borderlands now just because of a lame movie , that is ridiculous and void of any measurable data to back that opinion up. Why are you even participating in a chat for a game you don't care about?

Let's deduce this with logic and reason.

They have a bunch of games coming this year that already have release dates. There will be other partnered games as well, I am sure. Thus, their marketing will put together a showcase with all of that.

This is just silly and unrealistic to even entertain Borderlands 4 is their only "summer showcase."

I know we are jaded bunch, but this licking of walls levels.

The jadedness has reach all time highs. It's ridiculous.

Borderlands is a big IP, franchise.

Campaigns are dead for shooters expect for games like borderlands.

That brings me to its release, its enemy right now is Bungie and Marathon, and people showed what they thought of the Marathon alpha beta (trash). Overall, high hopes for Borderlands 4.
