At this point I think its this:

.01% no charges are brought against him, because reasons

95% he is scapegoated and left out to dry, with what the witnesses are saying, and if the autopsy shows bullet wounds in the back and front of Brown at closes proximity, he will be made an example of to "appease the masses"

4.99 % he is charged, but the evidence is tainted somehow.

Wow @ the head of the prosecutors office, some people have no awareness of PR and how it works do they?

Or he doesn't care and with the arrogance being shown by the entire local establishment it wouldn't surprise me.

Well, they're definitely not going to release his name without charging him. That's a death sentence.

If the evidence 'gets tainted', that basically ends in disaster for everybody involved, just like this did.

My partner is convinced that the officer will either attempt to flee the country or he'll take his own life. I tend to disagree.

He should probably kill himself. I mean, I can't imagine what prison is going to be like for him. Granted, I'm sure his defense will workout some type of protection or some shit, but still, that seems like a huge gamble.

A family member who is a cop posted a link to an article by a police officer's wife on my Facebook.

Warning: There's some really bad comments in here

My issue with posts like these is that: police officers were created to serve the public, not to serve themselves. Posts like hers show a very self-serving attitude.

Someone already posted the first part of David Simon's series of essays on Ferguson, and he's since done two more. If you're unfamiliar with him, he was a police reporter for The Baltimore Sun in the 80's and 90's who then went on to co-create The Wire and Treme.

The endgame for American civic responsibility. Pt. I

The endgame for American civic responsibility. Pt. II

The endgame for American civic responsibility. Pt. III

This is an amazing essay on the entire issue.

"If American citizens grant law officers the right to carry and use firearms with deadly force, it comes with an equal measure of responsibility. When a firearm is used in the line of duty, an individual and an agency are both responsible for that action. If a law officer exercises his right to lethal force, his actions are accounted and declared to the public he serves. He does not hide behind an arbitrary grant of anonymity; he is publicly identified as an acknowledgment that when he accepted the extraordinary rights granted to a law officer, he also accepted the responsibilities."

I'm out of the loop right now, what's going on in New York? D:

Protestors took the NYPD by surprise. NYPD scrambled to try and contain the protestors as they were spilling into the streets and they shut down Times Square.

Dude, it's Time Square. Isn't it always packed?

Around this time, yes.

Well..... as proud of the american people as I am right now I am NOT proud of the police. Also do we know what happens to the police who committed the riot? If there are no consequences from these horrible events then whats to stop this from happening again.

Yeah nobody has really said anything about investigating the crimes the police committed the last few days.

Every time I see that shit.

Fucking, ugh. What a stain. I can't believe people saw us fucking up on such a monumental level. Worldwide!

"Hey America, remember that time when you had police in military style gear training high powered sniper rifles on your citizenry from armored vehicles? Because we do! Good work there, by the way."

I really have no shred of remorse to care about a thing this lady wrote.

I hope everyone stays safe.

Yup. Violence should always be directed at citizens by the police, never the other way around.
What? That's not at all what I meant. The last thing we need is a protest to turn into another night of rioting, especially in place like NYC. I'm as much disgusted with the recent behavior of the cops as anyone else.

Amazing change in atmosphere and interactions. If only the police had shown restraint and respect in the first place.

Seriously. It's pretty remarkable and gives me a glimmer of hope, no matter how naive it might be. The community in Ferguson are some righteous, brave people.
