Dan must know where all the wrestlers go to drink in LA.

What are all these dusts? I only know Goldust.

Bluedust was The Blue Meanie when he served as Goldust's underling.

Stardust is Cody Rhodes, Goldust's brother. They've been tag teaming for a year or so, and Cody eventually adopted this character as an-off-the-wall tribute to his brother.

Jeff about the mysterious piece of content we've been teased:

It’ll go up when it’s ready. Could be a couple of weeks? Not sure, editing stuff takes time and we’ve all got other things to work on, too.

...

Wasn't Patrick going to do a video about Dynasty Warriors? Maybe he hated it so much he dropped the idea.

As of Spookin' with Scoops he hasn't even played it yet.

Man, Patrick seems legitimately pissed regarding the TR exclusivity debacle today on Bombin' in the AM. He's mainly pissed that MS lied to their faces and made him and other journalists look stupid by getting them to post stories saying the game is exclusive and then hinting its not completely exclusive the next day. That and now they have to question the word exclusivity everytime MS uses it now

This seems like a case of gaming journos making their bed, and how having to lie in it. For decades they've basically been an extension of the publisher PR machine and have printed/posted whatever non-story gets sent in a press release without any critical thought.

Now when the occasional executive or publisher lets slip the overtness of the relationship and how little respect they have for the press (like when Randy Pitchford got mad at a journalist breaking news and 'ruining' their marketing), the press gets defensive and riled up like they're some sacred institution.

Patrick is usually far more thoughtful, as well as a few others like Jason Schreier, but they cannot pretend their industry didn't play a hand in creating an atmosphere where misleading the press is acceptable.

Goldust came back to the WWE in a big way and they formed a tag team. Cody Rhodes became Stardust.

It's the best thing that's happened in the WWE in years.

I don't follow wrestling but this is amazing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oe9lPFOWaiA

Is wrestling coming back? It seems like everywhere I go someone is talking about it and making references to it.

in a lot of ways it's better now than it has been in a decade. i mean, not to the point where i'd go around telling people to watch it, but it's nice to see it on the upswing a little.

Wrestling has always crept in and out of the borders of the mainstream zeitgeist. Every time a big event happens in WWE, you'll probably run into it just by being on the internet. In the past few years, A LOT has happened.

Summer 2011: CM Punk cuts a scathing promo (basically talking shit on the mic to sell a match/angle) on the state of the WWE. He said a lot of what was on the minds of long time pro wrestling fans and most people wondered if it was a "work" (pre-planned) or a "shoot" (not planned and speaking truth). The story that is told on his DVD states that it was a bit of a mixture of both, but his words were pretty much a shoot.

End of 2013 - Early 2014: The super fast rise in popularity of Daniel Bryan. Riding high on the back of the most obnoxious catchphrase since Austin's "What?" he won fans over by putting on great match after great match to the point where the decision makers in WWE could no longer ignore him, so they gave him a run at the top. Sadly, his time at the top has been cut very short due to a neck injury that required surgery and he is currently recovering from.

All of 2014 so far: The launch of the WWE network. It is perceived as a fantastic value at $10 a month, because WWE has a fucking insane catalog of pro wrestling content. Investors were very excited at launch and their stock went up, but everyone overestimated how many people were going to buy into it in the first few months. Despite the great value, most people just don't want to add another monthly subscription, so the WWE has been hurting really bad. Thing is, they are fully committed to this thing now, because there is no future in the Pay Per View market, so they are (annoyingly) shoving this thing down people's throats during their TV shows and hoping to turn things around.

So yeah, with all of that craziness going on, of course you're gonna hear a lot more about it.

okay, the next time that we get into one of these stupid angry slapfights about one of the guys (especially near the start of the weekend), this thread will be locked for a period of my choosing

so i've been listening to the early bombcasts at work and boy, 2008 brad had a lot more of a california-surfer-dude tone and disposition than he does now. Like, i wonder if he was heavily into jazz cigarettes at the time or something.

It sounds super weird, haha.

It is a Take 2 event I believe. The wrestlers will be contractually obliged to be there. They have run a box for the press at events before.

I wonder who will get fired this time.
I miss JR

I don't know what to think of My Ex-Boyfriend the Space Tyrant

You can get more JR than you probably would ever want on his podcast. He damn near comes off as a bitter old man at times, but it's still worth a listen.

Probably just older and jaded now. 1000s of hours of DOTA will do that to you.
