It's more like being sort of within earshot of those groups and shouting something not really at them, but about something related to them. I don't see a problem with people pointing that out as tiresome and obnoxious, but engaging/reasoning with or retaliating against the guy shouting is just unnecessary because it's a guy shouting about stuff and who cares.

It's pretty funny. Just look at how worked up people are getting.

Sorry but most of our hobbies are pretty stupid in the grand scheme of things. Sorry you don't find humor in that.

If he's doing stuff like retweeting some soccer fans and laughing in their face then I can see it as obnoxious, but otherwise it's mostly him being dumb with people who presumably has the same taste as him seeing that they follow him.

Sure, but with 25 thousand followers there's bound to be some people in there who like him but whose interests aren't 1:1 with him.

Indeed. There's a reason only on the internet can you get defensive about anime/video games/whatever. Everywhere else you'd be laughed at.
 
This will be a small UPF. Dan and Jason are gone and Danny is passed out in an alley somewhere in Germany. That means Rorie and maybe an Alexis sighting.

That's the only way I can cope. Honestly, when Drake called him out on the Bombcast a couple of weeks ago, it was like a kind of catharsis. Like, everyone else at GB was too polite to criticize a coworker - even in a joking manner - and it took an outsider to come in and call Dan on his "supposed" insanity. Drake is like the scientist trying to warn the rest of the world that aliens are going to destroy the world but no one believes him. lol

Rorie has never actually brought a game to UPF has he? Even when they're short on staff I don't think he has.

I would also like to see Peter Brown again on UPF but he's also in Germany. Hell, I feel like everybody except Giant Bomb is at Gamescom.
 
I don't know how someone can say Dan hasn't been winning fans over. The OT is dedicated to the man.

And yeah, he likes to rile people up, especially on twitter. He enjoys getting a reaction out of people. If your identity is so tied into soccer/anime/whatever (two things I enjoy), that someone calling them stupid has an effect on you other than "*shrug*" maybe take a step back...

Like do you think Dan gets affected on a personal level when someone calls wrestling stupid, or for stupid people? I doubt it.

Yup, but at least Jeff seems open to the idea of budgeting it for next year.

He's always implied that Gamescom is kinda pointless because it's mostly just rehashed E3 announcements, but the announcement aspect of both events are becoming increasingly irrelevant with publishers doing things more and more outside of tradeshows.

Looking at all the tweets and pictures coming out of Gamescom, Giant Bomb could basically ignore all the old announcements and still get a ton of fantastic, dumb content.

And more late night dev podcasts.

Go listen to Jeff do it, he does a great job. I don't even agree with him all of the time, but he's good at making fun of shit, even shit I like and disagree with him about. I love the Yoshi games, but I still lose my shit at how mad they make Jeff.

Stop taking everything so seriously.

comedy is all about timing and circumstance. Putting someone on the spot never produces.

Of course, if you understood comedy, you wouldn't be going down this inane line of inquiry.

True, but I don't see how that's relevant considering Dan doesn't go farther than "This sucks and is for stupid people" either.
 
Man, Patrick seems legitimately pissed regarding the TR exclusivity debacle today on Bombin' in the AM. He's mainly pissed that MS lied to their faces and made him and other journalists look stupid by getting them to post stories saying the game is exclusive and then hinting its not completely exclusive the next day. That and now they have to question the word exclusivity everytime MS uses it now
