It pretty much is, by releasing the video it helps people justify his execution in their mind. Point in case many upon many remedial people in this very thread as of late with their not at all subtle bullshit.

Do you think the video should have been hidden from the public or do you just object to the timing/framing?

Q: If it's unrelated, why did you release the video today?

A: Because you asked for it. I held onto it as long as I could, but you asked for it.

What bullshit.

Fair enough

There were some defenses though. I merely pointed out defending the robbery is just as bad as using it for justification. That's beyond fair to say, no?

Yes, that is fair. I didn't see those posts, or maybe I didn't read those posts as defending the robbery. But I will chalk that up as difference of opinion.

No, you're misinterpreting my posts. I've said at least twice it's not directly related. It could give reasons for actions from either side on that street, but doesn't justify any excessive force.

I quoted Zoe after reading a few posts from said poster that were very logical, but brushed aside. That lead to some people seeming to want to defend every aspect of Brown's life, which is completely unnecessary for a case of excessive force.

Okay. I didn't see Zoe's posts. And you're right, it is unnecessary to build a case of excessive force, but my question to you then is why would the Ferguson PD release the incidence report then, now that we know that the officer who responded to the robbery wasn't the officer who shot Brown?

Chief Jackson: When the officer stopped Michael brown he was NOT aware that Michael Brown was a robbery suspect

I could have sworn I recall certain people in this thread throwing Johnson under the bus and sayin he made up his version of the story because they were so sure the officer was trying to question them about the robbery....

Ha, now the Chief is backtracking from this morning. This morning the Chief stated that the officer in the shooting was responding after a sic call from another case, and was heading to the store that was robbed, when the altercation with Brown happened.

Now he's stating that the officer was responding to the sic call, and ran into Michael Brown on the way because "he was blocking traffic".

The media went in hard on that, so good to know that I wasn't hearing things, and that there is infact 2 different stories by the Chief. That's not saying much, this Chief indeed makes Wiggum look like a genius.

Who said anything about saying he deserved to die? Wasn't me.

I stole cigarettes from the store as a kid. I don't think I deserve to die for it either.

Oh please; your narrative is clear as day. If you weren't trying to insinuate it you wouldn't mention it because his stealing the cigarillos doesn't even matter in context of this person being executed. He could have stolen $1,000 worth of stuff it changes nothing about the crux of this situation and the reason for protests; his unjustified killing.

I have seen the system work wonders to form cases to put guys away for smoking or handling small amounts of weed but for a white "Gentle Quiet" nice police officer he will most likely be suspended from his job because of the pressure from the people but he will not be prosecuted. Come on we already know how this story ends.

This can be cleared up with one simple question. Did Brown assault a police officer or not?
Nah, that's irrelevant too. The only thing that matters is if Brown tried to get the cop's gun (which I have a very hard time believing). And even if he did, shooting him dead over it remains bullshit. This cop is a trigger-happy horse's ass no matter how you slice it, imo.

And to think the chief could've gotten away with it if the cops hadn't started shit with the media by unlawfully arresting and tear gassing them

Watching the press conference right now. Wow. The fact that the officer's contact with Brown had nothing to do with the robbery is huge. That means the danger Brown posed in the mind of the officer had to be entirely the result of the altercation during the stop.

Did he shop lift, or just walk in..grab them..try to walk out..toss an elderly person..walk out..?

So cop wasnt responding to that call when stopping him they say? I wonder if Brown thought his previous actions of robbery and assualt was the reason for the cop interacting with him.

Because it has an overall bearing on the timeline/state of mind of Brown.

Exactly. If Brown thought it was because of the robbery, he may have been worried. Also, there was a call on the police radio (released in the info packet) about the description of the robber. Could have come in during the jaywalking discussion and changed things even if the initial contact was unrelated.

In a just world the cop gets second degree murder.

Oh, don't worry, I'm sure the story will change by tonight as to why they were stopped in the first place.

Sheriff Roscoe P Coltrane here, at your service folks.

What I want to know

color me surprised that the chief actually said that about the robbery. I'm guessing there is something very definitive that proves this in the dispatch logs. Still would guess the defense would say he "heard the descriptions on the radio" blah blah blah. Seriously a piece of work to release the video that apparently even according to the chief is a non-sequitor, at least in Wilson's mind at the time. Instead he was just harassing some kids who were in the street? oof.

Yeah, I know my first reaction when being attacked by a 6'4" 300lb man is to make sure I don't hurt him. Completely unjustified, got it.

Holy shit. I can't believe I came back from lunch to this.
This police chief is fucking ridiculous. Someone must've lit him the fuck up for dispersing the info this way. Governor, maybe?

What a travesty.

If you're a fucking cop, it should be.

No clue. Sounds like Ferguson PD is completely inept. Literally the only defense the cop can cling to now is that Brown attacked him because he "thought" he might be getting stopped for the robbery. Defense attorney 101.

Maybe they're releasing it so the cop will be able to make that claim. "Well, I wasn't responding to a robbery call, but Brown freaked out when he saw me because of the robbery." Cue first statement.

These peacful protests need to continue. It is becoming more and more clear that they are closing ranks around someone who gunned down an unarmed citizen.

Disgusting and shameful.

That's ridiculous.

The press didn't ask for video of an unrelated robbery. They asked for video of the shooting.

If the press fails to make that crystal-clear here, I'm done.
