Ferguson: Police Kill 18yo Black Male; Fire Gas/Rubber Bullets Into Protesting Crowds

The only reasonable scenario I can see is Brown did do the crime so when the officer approached him he assumed the officer knew and reacted. After the initial altercation I can't think of an explanation. In my opinion this is the best case scenario for the police.

That's assuming that Brown was the person in the video/picture. Let's assume that it was, why was Officer Wilson following Brown if he wasn't there in relation to the robbery?

I know this is bordering on tinfoil hat territory, but I think your hypothesis is correct. The timing of the video and the information released leads me to believe that they would have tied the stop to the robbery if they could have, but there is definitive evidence this was not the case.
 
Why would the press ask for something they apparently didn't even know existed until today!! This is unbelievably inept and outrageous. I hope the FBI puts this entire department behind bars.

It seems the press are this close to straight up lighting Chief Wiggum on fire here. They want blood. You don't arrest them/tear gas them/waste their time and then not expect them to come for that ass

Eye witness statements don't corroborate with this. They state that the officer started to drive off after initially talking to Brown and Johnson and then, seconds later, drove back to them for a second time after which the altercation occurred.

Even if this is the case, and it might be, the end result shouldn't be the execution of the purported shoplifter.

the victims first strike was he was black now the second strike is he has been dehumanized as a criminal. This cops slate is golden he doesn't have to worry about the law because right or wrong its on his side. He does have to worry about the angry mob of people but I am sure he is already in PC being hidden somewhere. This whole story just stinks!

There is no video of the shooting. The Ferguson PD had received dashcams, but not installed them yet.

The only witness to the start of the altercation is the friend.

There were talks of him being a robbery suspect on pg. 1 of this thread. No reason the press wouldn't ask for corroboration. Probably asked for any files/reports involving Brown.

they didn't want to reveal the cop's name but they freely hand out the video of the victim which is unrelated to the shooting.

Nobody gives a shit what your or the cop's first reaction were or would be. It's the second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, and I could go on reactions that led to Brown being shot in the back after the alleged attack had ended and after Brown (according to witnesses) surrendered.
 
So the chief has just admitted to what every sane/non-racist person in this thread has been saying all day? That the Brown being a robbery suspect had nothing to do with the shooting?

Let that sink in. The chief of this police department that's been fucking up for a week, admitted to some shit that people in this thread who should know better couldn't grasp. If that doesn't sum up how fucked up people's prejudices are then I don't know what does.

That is incorrect. It could provide clues to the mindset of Michael Brown as he was stopped. He may have thought the cop knew about the robbery. It is a detail that CANNOT be simply dismissed as irrelevant. It may not end up as relevant to the guilt of the cop.

One eye witness, the friend, who has been anything but consistent with his statements. The others saw it after a struggle with the officer or whatever happened there.

Maybe he hit himself, but my money is on Brown.

I heard that in the state, lethal force may be used if a felony suspect is said to be resisting arrest.

Can that still be applied if the officer was unaware that the person he killed was a suspect for a felony?
 
Maybe Brown didn't know that the cop didn't know that he was a suspect and hence the scuffle? (if there was a scuffle... etc. etc.)
 
If he was scared of being caught shoplifting why would he go for a cops gun? Seems like a really extreme reaction. Thats a much bigger crime and trying it is basically risking your life.

I'd like to see the chief produce evidence that the press asked for the robbery video. However, the robbery was at least mentioned by a witness YouTube video posted on Monday, it just hadn't been confirmed.
