Looking at (for now) all of the Smash Bros. characters ever on a single roster really shows what clones and odd character inclusions can do to a game.

I never even knew there was backlash against Brawl until like 3 years ago.

Brawl came out when I was 14 so I cared less about mechanics and more about if Mario could beat Sonic.
 
I would actually really like for Chibi Robo to be in, I just don't know how he'd play, though. He seems like he'd need a rather unqiue moveset. Plus I'm sure he'd have to be the smallest fighter (although there's no way in hell he'd be much smaller than the smallest one now).
 
I wish Lucina has her "real" stance in the new smash though, it's just a sad thing to clone everything from Marth, I have no problem from her being a "clone" to the moves that Marth has, but the animation should be different, the fans did a good job of giving her the stance here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YP6QwuDjQYs

I hope Sakurai changes that before the game came out :"(

Man, I miss some parts (having friends nearby and such), but I was so glad to get out of that place. Though, I didn't go to college, so school was never a good fit for me. Gotta say, while I sort of feel like I missed out not going to college, at 23 I'm definitely not minding having none of the student loans a lot of my buddies have.
 
I've argued elsewhere about how Donkey Kong, Yoshi, and Wario aren't part of the Mario series for a number of factors, thought I'd share my conclusions:
  • Donkey Kong and Wario are pretty much separated enough from the Mario series that they can be considered their own series in their own right. Aside from kart racing and sports, they have not made mainline appearances in a long, long time.
  • Yoshi is less harder to get away with. Most of his moves are based off shit he does in Yoshi Island, with very little trace of the Mario franchise. He most likely gets his own series logo that way, however it's also probably so that the mario franchise doesn't have that many reps at first glance.

CHARACTERS THAT HAVE THE MAINLINE MARIO SERIES LOGO:
  • Mario
  • Luigi
  • Peach
  • Bowser
  • Rosalina (who has appeared in the latest mainline games!)
CHARACTERS THAT DON'T:
  • Wario (Most of his moves are based off Warioware; he hasn't had mainline presence in forever.)
  • Donkey Kong (No mainline presence in forever, moves based around Donkey Kong Country.)
  • Diddy Kong (ONLY APPEARS IN THE DONKEY KONG COUNTRY SERIES.)
    Yoshi (Moves based off Yoshi's Island and pretty much only Yoshi's Island. Has recent mainline presence though.)

Yeah, full agreement that Donkey Kong and Wario should be considered as their own entities and not as extensions of the Mario brand. They're both well developed series' in their own right and they don't reference other Mario games at all (save for a few WarioWare microgames here and there). Yoshi too, but his games share a lot with the Mario universe (enemies and characters) so it's more of a grey area. Still deserves his own series icon though, IMO.
 
Not to start a discussion about it, but does anybody have the link to the Smashboards thread that tries to make a bunch of bad leaks work together based on those recolor mock ups?

I can never find where it's posted on the website.
