Yeah but other reporters including those on the ground said there was no eye irritation. I other words conflicting reports = not likely to be tear gas as everyone would be crying, sneezing, and not just coughing.

Depends who the journalists are. Vast majority are playing by the rules of the cops and hiding behind them. A few were in violation and among the protestors

Would probably cause the crowd to disperse regardless, especially after the several times they've had actual tear gas thrown at 'em. People probably ran before they knew what it actually was and I think it still causes your body to act up some.
