PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | August 2014

Yeah, I dropped the original once I got to the Cerberus boss and hit a wall. Just couldn't get any further and the systems didn't interest me enough to grind (Never had an issue with farming in MH since I love the carving and crafting systems). Delta never felt grind to me though, it flowed a lot better and melee combat was heaps more enjoyable (The feather+spear combo made it super fun to teleport around the field attacking enemies). It's just a much better paced game along with all the additions and better looking graphics.

In the past I've said I would find it hard to recommend GE2 to people without at least decent knowledge or recognition of kanji due to all the menus and crafting systems, but if you're keen on it I'd just grab it anyway. It was a really good time. It'd be nice if it eventually comes over but it just doesn't seem like it at this point :(

I think the teleporting in delta kind of breaks the game as you don't have to think about positioning anymore. Teleport in hit a few times and teleport out. Made me stop playing the game even though I love it and played vanilla to completion. Will go backsome day though because the game is FANTASTIC :)

On the other hand weren't ranged attacks pretty much broken in the original?

And you definitely do have to worry about positioning still if you want to break cursed parts.

That is true (I stand corrected) , I wished it had more focus on melee combat.

Edit: Any chance that we'll get the release date for Freedom Wars from PAX?

I had a question for anyone who owns an imported Japanese Vita and has a western PSN copy of Killzone Mercenary. Are the controls inverted to X or does it still use O?

The reason I ask is because sometimes some of my western copies of games still use O for some reason.

Based on that I wouldn't get if I were you.

It's a fantastic game (SS). But it's one of games where you get back, what you put into it.
SSD expands on the the great gameplay and adds more story. It's a good value for the price.

I don't own SSD, because I played the heck out of SS. I also suspect SSD will be PS+ sooner or later.

The price tempting, but you have to ask yourself.. Are you actually going to play it this time?
You have until around 12 to 1PM est tomorrow.

No, Don't. Fight the impulse. I too have bought SS last January when it was like 5$ and I haven't played it longer than one hour overall. Enjoy the original first if you'd like it. SS:D might be better but you gotta trim the backlog a little first before buying. Atleast you'd get your money's worth before the game's price decreases.

As if I didn't buy DBZ and Ys 1&2 just to put them on my backlog.

BANDAI NAMCO, WHERE'S MY GOD EATER 2?

Hmmm. Any chance SS:D will get even lower prices later on, I wonder... Gotta admit that SS went PS Plus back then kind of stung, hahaha.

Anyways, want to share my PS Vita background: kind of boring... although neat and organized. Any idea how to spice things up?

Also, my God FFX is such a pretty game <3

Took a peek at FFX HD (got it on PS3 for $20), damn this game looks good at 1080p. I think they redid some of the textures, but still, looks great for what it is. Don't think I'll replay it, just wanted to own it and poke around at 1080p Spira for a while.

It's a good game, if not just a little mediocre. For most people, it wouldn't be worth for the full price, but it's not a horrible game in any way like most people make it out to be.

I think I'll definitely give it a try then at some point. I'll just wait for it to go on sale.

Sorry to ask another question, but has anyone here played Ragnarok odyssey ace? I missed out on it when it first came out. I downloaded the demo and enjoyed the gameplay. But I'm also weary that the game's world could get boring.

Would you guys recommend that game?

It will get boring, but it depends on your capability of enduring it and finding out new ways of combat. It's another game that I'd suggest, but only if you already played the other, better games from that genre, like Toukiden and Soul Sacrifice.

Damn, I just beat Soul Sacrifice Delta. Seems like I'm beating a lot of games, and looking at weaker versions of their genre to fill the void. lol

Did not play Toukiden though. Never even heard of it.

What time does the PSN store 'officially' update on Tuesdays?

If you are in the US, I think it's 12pm Pacific, 3pm East Coast. I've seen games go up earlier then that, and sometimes later. It's not always 100% consistent. But it's usually around that ball park.

I think the official time is 2-7PM EST (11AM-4PM PST). 12pm Pacific and 3pm East would put that in the first hour of the official time.

What time does the PSN store 'officially' update on Tuesdays?

Often updated by 3 EST, but I usually don't check until 5 EST in case things are delayed, because often things are put up and the prices and PS+ discounts aren't applied until after, so I don't want to risk buying something for more than I should.

There isn't even an "official" time, it has always been "it's up when it's up and you'll like it".

Everyone buy this game. I have 80 hours on my Asian import copy and I still haven't beaten any of the 2 arcs, nor have I touched the 30hr patched content. Game is craaaaazy huge, a lot of meat on this bone. If you enjoy RPGs, stats, and want to try a different type of gameplay (skill based with cool downs, like MMOs) you can't go wrong. I'm calling it right now, this is going to be the next Persona 4 Golden.

....It is really that good?! I mean, I loved Persona 4 Golden and Persona 3 Portable, so if this game even remotely close to it.....that will be amazing :D!

Is this anime on Netflix? If so I may check it out :).

I hate the anime though.
I don't think I will like this at all.

from what I read, it is on Netflix :D

Cool, will watch the first 14 episodes and see if I like the shows/games world :). I don't plan on getting this game right away (it is 50 bucks, right? Quite a lot for a digital game X(. Then again, I did get Bioshock Infinite digital day-one for PS3 :D), but will give this game a shot this holiday if I like the show :D.

Not sure about netflix, but you can watch it for free on crunchyroll.com also, even without an account. It does have adds, but you can either pay or deal with them. All I will say is that you will see as many adds on crunchyroll when watching episodes as you do when watching youtube, and leave you to interpret that as you will.

Just make sure you don't accidentally start watching the second season, as crunchyroll tends to default to the most recent season and is a little confusing.

I don't like the show much but the game is still good.

Show: 6-7/10, Game: 9/10

That is even better :D! When I saw premium price on this thread I though 50 something bucks (like how Uncharted GA was 50 bucks at the Vita launch), so I guess I just got confused XD. Thanks for the heads up though darkwing :).

If it isn't on Netflix, I could always use one of my two emails to make a free-trail for Crunchroll (I did that for P4GA when it launched). I've been watching P4GA on Hulu Free (with lots of ads), so I don't mind waiting a bit if I have to :).

Thanks for the heads up though.

you are welcome, after all, it is the top 5 Vita game (total sales) in Japan :D sequel is coming so we hope it is going to NA as well, hopefully the NA sales for this game is enough for BN to localize the next one

Mannnnnn SAO sounds amazing.

I watched the show and enjoyed it, well

enjoyed Arc One, Arc Three

Hated Arc Two

The film was absolutely pointless for me, it was just Arc 1&2 retold :\

But this game sounds amazing!!

I'm thinking about buying a PS4 companion for my Vita.
How's Destiny remote-play?

Tried it for a couple of hours during beta. Workable for single-player, definitely. I wouldn't want to do PvP or raids with it, though.

On an unrelated note - what's the current feeling about the chances of Danganronpa going on sale in EU before the second is released?

yup, September from what I read in here

lol, with the amount of content there already is...I don't think it needs 30 more hours worth of stuff. I really think most people are going to jump into this and almost be overwhelmed by how massive the game is. I mean, you can start the game and get lost doing side stuff and not even do the main floor missions for like 40 + hours. You just get lost down the rabbit hole. And it's so easy to get side tracked and start doing one thing, only to jump to another thing. It becomes never ending. I say this in a good way of course lool. But it's just crazy to me that they are adding 30 + more hours.

But hey, 30 + hours...I'll take it!

For people buying SAOHF, take a look at this post:

Should help you get started plenty I think.

I have 70+ hours and that's without doing all events in both areas or the 30h content patch. (most I did of that was watch the cutscene and go to the garden, didn't actually do any proper fighting from the patch lol).

The film was absolutely pointless for me, it was just Arc 1&2 retold :\

While technically true, I really enjoyed the movie-only stuff with the underwater quest. That was fun.

Yup the game is that good, and I would place it right next to P3P and P4G as my favorite handheld game of all time, period. Got this back in May when it launched in Asia, and I have been playing ever since then until now, that's almost 3 months. I usually don't spend more than a couple of weeks on games due to getting bored, but this game just packs so much stuff to do, that every day I set myself a different goal in order to progress.

Hope that those buying it enjoy it as much as much as me, and trust me, if you go over to the game's OT (which btw is getting more and more lively as the launch approaches), everyone that played either the JP or the AS copies will tell you that the game is sublime. The patch that got released recently (which the US will get in September!) not only adds another 30hrs, it also fixes the minor things the game had making the game even faster paced, more fluid and accessible. It also raises the level cap to 250 (you start at 99 or something) and balances weapons out, as well as improving the Heroine's AI.
