PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | August 2014

Phew, that's better at least. It looks like I've got about 800 megs of PS3 saves, so I'm just dumping all those to the cloud just in case.

Got my money all ready for Tuesday and Wednesday.
Gonna be a good week of gaming for me, Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment, Counterspy and The Last Tinker: City of Colors.

Hide your Vita's, VitaGAF.

http://www.jp.playstation.com/conference/2014/

SCEJA Press Conference will be on 9/1.

Don't let your Vita near any news outlet (TV, internet, its own browsers/nicovideo app, etc). Let them live a happy life and don't tell them their parent abandoned them.

Also, PS+ games for August aren't as good (not that interested in Musou Orochi 2 Ultimate). :/

50% Discount:

Dangan Ronpa 1+2 Reload (already done before tax increase)
8/20~8/26
Dream Club Gogo
8/20~9/2
BattleField 4 (PS4)
8/20~8/21

Since the Vita is actually selling decently in Japan, it's not completely unreasonable to expect at least some sort of Vita mention. Just don't expect any first-party stuff though (RIP Gravity Rush).

this conference is fucked from the start.

flickr app doesn't work anymore, its driving me crazy , I want to use it to fucking upload screenshots (faster) and all these scea clowns, srsly fuck em all .
Noone listens, I posted it on PSMVP 2 months and all they gave me was shit like anyone would say on their support. This program say they are suppose to listen is awful and whatever good things you hear about is well you know coming from hardcore ps fans. no offense.

also the patch had been out in japanese flickr which is literally the same thing,

Is it 1:1 content with the PSP release? I was interested but actually I don't if I want to double dip on the same game I already own for the same console

Can't be sure, but it feels the same - same three choices of ship controls, same campaign structure with same planets (at least the early systems). Don't know if there are more missions but I'd guess not.

edit: Just checked JAW's site. Vita version has cross compatibility with PS3 custom levels, 7 new levels, and a twin stick control method.

That'll be at 3AM here, welp. The safe route will be to sleep expecting to get punched in the face first thing in the morning, aye?
I'll be happy with PS4 games tho

Lightning was pretty cool imo It was Square that made me dislike her.

Tidus is just so self centered and his VA is so annoying it's perfect for his character haha

I would be selfish too if I was thrown to a world where I barely know anybody. He's VA's definitely annoying though.

Has the following games been cheaper on PSN?

One Piece: Pirate Warriors
Devil May Cry HD Collection

- don't have the first one piece game (I have the second one)
- I'm selling off the physical retail version that is still sealed

€29,99 in Europe i guess?

freedomwars.jpg

(in-game) Limited Edition Sticker Set? Hm. Interesting....

That would be a nice price since I'll probably find it for 25€ or so on my usual online stores (Amazon and shop4es)

Let's see if they open preorders tomorrow.

I haven't beat the game so I don't really know how his character evolves later in the game. All I know that he does 'grow' up as a person but I have yet to experience his growth in game.

I just go to
air ship where you fight the big dragon that is able to instakill you if you aren't careful with how you move the ship
The difference between Tidus and Lighting is that Tidus watches his world get destroyed, is thrown through time, across the planet, before having to find a whole new role in life in a different world. He goes from being a wealthy, popular sports star with an easy, enjoyable existence to having to fight for his life constantly, and he accepts his new role fairly early on.

Lighting is a military veteran, at home in an urban environment, so when she is constantly in a strop it's a bit less forgivable when she's the party member who should be best able to handle the situation, meanwhile the director is constantly telling you how lovely, wonderful and competent she is. The equivalent would be if, in FFX, as soon as Tidus turns up, all Auron does is sulk, moan and lash out all the time before running off in a huff. You kinda expect the most experienced members of the party to act with a bit of dignity, especially when the npcs and main cast keep telling you how competent they are.

Still waiting for SCEE's response to my query so asking here again in case someone has any insight.

Does SCEE (EU) honor the price of an item when you pre-order it? I mean when something is like priced at X when you preorder it but priced at (X+20%) slightly before the release, does it charge the price at the time of preorder or the new price?

For those who don't know, EU pre-orders only charge your purchase a few days before release, so no funds is deducted during the initial pre-order phase

Then my follow up question which I just need clarification on, so not completely related with the previous question but has some merit at the end.

If I buy a game on the SEN Store via a secondary PSN account in another region, can I use/ play the game on my main account that's not the region of where the game was initially bought in?

(Ex. Buy Destiny on the US PSN store, but game on my UK PSN account?)

Reason I ask is I saw that the P.T demo was restricted to only my US account (the one used to download it) as when trying to launch it via my main account it got an error saying it couldn't check licenses.

Anyway hope someone has some insight on the above two questions.

The IGN article said you get those preorders bonus if you get the game on PSN or at "selected retailers". So there is that.
Great, neglected to read the link since I was on mobile. Still pretty keen to try FW despite some of the negative opinions that have been voiced.

Ok i found the DS3 cable and luckily Saints Row 4 worked with it, i still don't understand why it didn't accept the X input of the other controller that always worked "well"(if we don't take into account that on PS3 it has swapped L1 with L2 and R1 with R2).

Man the initial section before the character customization was really rough, PS2 graphics, low framerate and some bad animations, but after that things looked a little better.

Normally, I would think so. Except that Sony Gamescom Conference 2014 happened. I just don't want to expect the reasonable and get disappointed. In fact, it was unreasonable to think that they won't have any Vita stuff in gamescom.

Technically, they did, but they wanted to forget about the Vita so much they called it a PS4 game instead of a Vita game.

Freedom Wars' preorder bonus are not really that good.

The only exclusive stuff there is the Formal Wear and the decals. You can pretty much forget about the decals, so it's really just Formal Wear.

"Powerful" Starter weapon is bullshit. And the Medical Supply Pack isn't a game changer (even at the beginning).

P.S. Don't buy Freedom Wars if you're in it for the single player stuff (or as a hunting game). I'm serious. I'll post an impression from the point of view of someone who's mainly playing alone and can't solo-Gunlance a high level Tigarex while naked (though most of it would be from the pre-1.10 patch era) if someone asks.

Eh...I think I'm waiting until a sale

Am I the only one who liked Starlight Inception (post patch), or am I the only one that bough it?

There are still some problems with the game and graphically it's far from the better looking vita games out there, but it is a pretty enjoyable game and the music is no less than fantastic.

I hope they'll get enough money to start creating more SP content because the potential of the foundation they have laid for the game is pretty impressive IMO.

How is Dead Nation for Vita? Is it native res? Performance?

Honestly the game is pretty boring compared to Housemarque standard, only worthwhile in co op. Wait for Alienation IMO, if it's Vita. Otherwise, buy a PS4, heh

Sounded more like an enhanced port of the PS3 version. Ahh, the days of the PSP, where you got a significantly inferior version and you always had to pay for it separately too.

How can one find Dead Nation boring is beyond me. The game is filled with action unless you play it on easy, then all games are boring.

It is the best Housemarque game by a long, long shot. About to start my fifth playthrough on Vita.

Wait what?

Why is Freedom Wars all of the sudden not good now?

Not sudden, it fell off my radar after people starting posting real impressions. One member here posted one that made me go from a day one purchase to a maybe in a 50% sale. Can't remember his name, though, but it was in the OT.

The game was a huge disappointment for me, both on Vita and PS4.

Technically the Vita version is fine, it had some sound issues for me though.. where sometimes there would be no SFX sounds playing.

It is just so ... boring. The core shooting felt very bland, some of the UI design is strange.. I really wanted to like it! Maybe I need to give it another shot.

Shit, wrong topic. Sorry.

Anyway, I had high hopes for Freedom Wars, sigh.

Until you play it, or multiple sources claim it is indeed not all that its cracked up to be, I would reserve your judgement.

If I had the money, I'd probably buy Freedom Wars, sounds interesting from what I've read.

Sadly, I have a somewhat strict budget for the rest of the year with each game I'm buying worked into it already. (and missing out on some games I would normally buy day 1)

Ah well, I'll pick it up when I have spare money I guess.

The "long post" part is not on the original, I did it because it is a very big post.

PS: I'm not talking about the Reddit post, that was FUD by a console warrior. I'm talking about the comments of the GAF member.

Thanks man

It will be interesting to see how its changed since then. Pretty sure we are getting all the latest patches built in but its clear to me that this game will have a lot in common with many of the other new hunting game IPs (Soul Sacrifice, Toukiden, Ragnarok, etc..)

The first releases of these games had varying levels of roughness and repetitiveness followed by much improved expansions. At least that tends to be the current development model.

I think SS and Toukiden had the best first outings of the bunch though.

The demo is pretty nice.

Don't trust the demo.

When I was playing the demo, I asked myself what could go wrong (I liked the demo, and it's by Shift) and then bought the game.

Freedom Wars is an interesting game with lots of poorly executed/thought out elements. But in all honesty, unless you're in it for the multiplayer, just wait for the upgraded version. Or at the very least all the updates to come.

Back off a little, and do a lot of research from what others say. Pre-order bonus is not really worth it, IMO. Unless you have a suits fetish or something.

No problem. But yeah, people have slammed me before but I've taken the stance of waiting until the second game to think about buying games from this genre (SS, Toukiden, etc). The second one is almost always a lot better, and fixes a lot of problems of the first one that they say couldn't be fixed with just a patch. I'll do the same with FW, hoping that it eventually gets a revamped version.

The PS4 is doing extremely badly in Japan so far, so it would actually be in Sony's best interest to focus on PS4 for TGS.

Are you talking about the main game or the post story content because as far as I understand the ppl in the FW OT, the things they don't like with the game is how the game is designed after you have completed the games story?
