What a fantastic update. I love alt costumes and this one is absolutely perfect for ZSS. And a retro stage reveal, and one of the most familiar stages in the series. It's a staple of smash, it's comforting to see it back.

Yea, it's my opinion too. Even though this covers less than the normal Zero Suit, it feels more tasteful to me, since it's more realistic clothing.

Also weird how ZSS gets a new model alt costume and Link and the "real" Samus are stuck with texture changes.

We've had legit leaks without pics before (there were several such leaks for Brawl, and the first Gematsu leak also qualifies). Besides, I imagine it's difficult to get pictures, since you're usually surrounded by coworkers, aka witnesses.

We're not getting any pics until at least physical copies start getting printed.

The screenshot for the 3DS looks a lot better than the WiiU one. The angle shows off the details better and ZSS is in a normal, realistic posture.

The WiiU shot makes it look a lot skimpier than it is, because the angle is so low on the shot.

But Wario will get two alts because he's special, and Link will only get that shitty recolor because he sucks.

I don't think those are their alts so much as more creative recolors. Someone on another form pointed out that technically even Wireframe mac was just a really creative color set rather than a full on alt costume.

But ZSS's boots are modeled, and she has normal maps on the rest of her to give the shorts and jacket detail.

So far, no other alt for a vet has gone as far in detail as these costumes. The other two vet costume we've seen (Samus and Link), were just simple texture changes. Link didn't even get a normal map to sort of hint at depth.

This update makes me think that all characters will get an alt costume.

I really hope Mario's alt is Doc and not that red white and blue texture change

They could do the PED suit from Corruption, which is one I really like. Ideally we'd get a proper fusion suit and the color alt shifts to something else. I'm more worried about link. Not quite - there's still one left besides the power suit.

Though if they elected to have the Light Suit be a palette swap, I doubt they'd model a PED suit.

This is correct, but this late in the game it's difficult to get verifying evidence for a written leak since the vast majority of things that were meant to be revealed before launch have already been shown. For that reason written leaks are probably only going to be vindicated after-the-fact (which is obviously not that useful). Unless we get someone who pulls a Gematsu leak and predicts an insane character (that isn't the Chorus Kids) that gets revealed in the 3 week or so window before launch.

Fusion Suit would be hard to do, it's a lot smaller frame than her Varia suit and would change her silhouette too much. It's the same issue Project M ran into with the Light Suit and why they had to give it ridiculous shoulders.

The PED suit has large shoulders, it would work fine as an alt model, especially in near full corruption style with the cool glowing lines.

It's mostly the shoulders that mess everything up. It's why a Power Suit model might not work either.

Man don't get my hopes up. Skyloft Link is my favorite Link design, having him as an alt would rock. As is we're probably going to get something dumb like OOT Link or Hyrule Warriors Link. Maybe we'll catch a break and get Wii U link along with Pajama Toon Link since they're outfits are similar.

I'm still trying to figure out if there's any logic to which costumes get re-textures, and which get alternate costumes. The light suit, for example, was a perfect case for an alternate costume!

I should probably give up trying to figure out Sakurai, though

Ehhhh I don't see Ike and Marth getting any variation.

Why not Ike? He has a class change in Radiant Dawn, and his obvious younger appearance from Path of Radiance/Brawl - and, if that gets added they could easily add at least a Lord Ike alternate pallet this time too, something that got ignored last time. There's also his Awakening design.

Marth is more complicated though, since his new outfit mixes elements of both his Shadow Dragon and New Mystery designs already, so they wouldn't be different enough, and he has no class changes in those games. His Awakening costume also is out since it'd look way too similar to Lucina. So, you're pretty much only left with costumes based on his old artwork... They could technically just give him a random outfit based on some Awakening class though, since he can class change in Awakening, but that seems extremely unlikely.
