Wow. And SCOTUS says racism is over in America.
From the latest article on The Nation:
"But for me, the detail that sticks is that Browns body was left in the street for at least four hours. Not only did people in the community witness the shooting, they were forced to look at the aftermath. For hours, they had to see Michael Browns bullet-ridden, bloody body lie rotting in the street."
I wasn't aware of that before, his body being left like that for so long. There's so much wrong with this incident.
You think that's bad?
Probably had a buddy cop punch him when he got back to the station.
I'm going to guess it was probably just one or two punches. But Brown is a big guy, so one or two punches to the face is probably enough to leave a significant mark.
Brown's friend says Wilson pulled Brown into the police car, right? Brown could have resisted that and punched Wilson to get him to let go.
Wilson goes for his gun, but fumbles and the gun goes off. It doesn't sound like that shot hit anyone, but it was probably enough to panic Brown into running.
That's when Wilson hops out of the car and uses entirely too much force.
Police aren't trained to shoot people in the limbs, that stuff only works in the movies. Officers shoot to kill when neutralizing a threat and there's no limit on how many bullets they can fire, that is up to their discretion. Honestly, if somebody is coming at me with a knife and I'm an officer, I'm not risking collateral damage by aiming for a limb or shooting to wound. Heck, even a taser is dangerous because if you fuck up and miss, you're dead. I think the use of deadly force in the situation with an unpredictable knife wielder is warranted.
in holland police officers are trained to shoot criminals in the leg. And it works

With every passing day I feel more and more like I went to sleep and woke up in the 1800s.
Is this printed in an actual newspaper? It looks like something you'd see in a Klan recruiting pamphlet.

Yep. It was printed in the Columbia Daily Tribune yesterday.
Although written to serve the Columbia Metropolitan Area, it is the most widely circulated newspaper in Mid-Missouri.
I see.
Dorian said that that Mike Brown was shot while he was wrestling with Johnson and even said he was bleeding from that first shot in the car. Also according to Dorian's story, Brown was being choked by the officer through the car window -- so it would not surprise me if Brown did throw a few punches. But the extent of his injuries have gone from: "OMG fractured eyeball" to "a bit of swelling on the one side of his face". And the fact that they're taking this long to show any proof and have resorted to "leaking" their side of the story, makes me not believe a word they're saying.
You think that's bad?
But didn't the autopsy(ies) say all the shots were from a distance? And wouldn't they also have seen some sort of neck injury from being choked through the window?
Dorian's story is going to be torn apart if the injuries do not match up.
And if Brown was bleeding when he left the car, wouldn't there be blood on the pavement? I have not heard/seen anything about that.
If the shot in the car didn't hit anyone, there'd be a bullet in the car somewhere. I don't think we've seen/heard anything about that.
But yes, the length of time to disclose the nature of Wilson's injuries does make a person suspicious.

I hate the world a little more every day. This might be my super villain origin story.
I'm motioning that Missouri be renamed to New Florida. Christ.
I'm in my cube at work and I overhear two of the managers here talk about the issue. The guy starts off by saying that the entire event was justified and that it would be wrong for him to face charges. The other guy responds that they are out for revenge and that it's the same race-baiters that show up to every one of these things. Finally, the 1st guy responds saying that THEY are going to use the knife incident to tear down another city and that if you're acting like a thug in front of an officer you should expect to get shot.
GAF, I am black and sitting probably 5 feet away from the office where this took place. They didn't even bother to close the freaking door. Pray for my patience, as I really just feel like turning up and losing it right now.

I don't know how people could just sit there and take that. I guess its easy for me so say I could call that shit out when I'm not in that situation.I'm motioning that Missouri be renamed to New Florida. Christ.

You don't want to be known as the "angry black guy" around the office.
You see that and think "hey maybe they're making fun of white people focused on looting and not the issues...I hope that's what's happening." Then you look at the other signs.Hey, look what the local papers in Missouri are publishing:

Ha, if you want bad, check this forum out; it gathers some very interesting posters from the (very right) side. No idea why since the site at its core is just an informational site. Read through their Ferguson thread at stickied at the top.

...Fantastic interview by Sean Hannity. I'm usually not a fan of his, but he really took this interview and brought it home.

For you black US gaffers how much has this event affected you in terms of where you thought race relations where in the US? VS where an event like this has really shown a lot of people's weird thought processes on race.
I'm shocked at the outpouring of some very, very dodgy stuff. I thought Obamas reelection got some people's backs up and they went to town woth the racist comments, but this event has seen the hatred ratcheted up past that.
