WWE 2K15 First Footage and Gameplay changes

People act like this is strange for 2K, but they do it all the time with their NBA series. For some reason, they think a slow drip of information is the best way to build up hype for their games. Doesn't mean it's broken or it's going to be a "buggy mess." It's just 2K's style. Don't know why some people continue to come in here and regurgitate the same bashing and whining.

The game has been a buggy mess for 4 years and there's already been a rumour they asked WWE for a delay months ago. Doesn't matter if it's "their style", they really need to show that they've fixed it to re-gain confidence in a lot of people.

that IGN shit is amazing.

they could've just written "no comment" on every question and had the same effect.

at least we got the "hot scoop" that Cena has 4 attires! ಠ_ಠ

"Well, we have so much we want to tell you, but we won't until after it releases and the day one rubes have already given us their money."

I'm not worried about the lack of info since I play NBA 2k every year so it's just more of the same.

I agree that they shouldn't have bothered with the "first" treatment tho. I've gotten more info from this thread and leaked videos than anything IGN has put out. They Shouldve covered that Lord of the Rings game instead or something.

In fairness, that delay rumor was based on Take Two's financial report which merely stated a Fiscal 2015 release for the game. It was a nothing rumor. October 28th is Fiscal 2015.

Fine, but that Q & A is embarrassing. Why bother answering twitter questions if they aren't going to have any answers. Just don't do it.

Why agree to an IGN First if they aren't willing to show anything of substance?

Oh, I agree 100 percent. That was perhaps the most embarrassing IGN Q&A I've ever seen, and that's pretty bad. But every time this thread is bumped, it's usually a core group of people saying shit that essentially amounts to "lol Yukes" or "this game is shit."

But people are pointing to the lack of coverage to say the game will be broken, and that's just bullshit. 2K always holds off until the last minute to show off stuff for their sports titles. Using that as some gauge of quality for the game is asinine.

I could barely get through that Q&A. Sheesh!
They will probably delay the game so that it coincides with the end of Kurt Angle's contract with TNA.
They will then re reveal the game with him on the cover, as he deserves.

Vince of IGN tweeted:

"Hey WWE 2K15 fans. I love you folks. I want to do more as much as you want to see more. It's cool that you're mad. I would be too."

Sounds like even they are frustrated with the bad coverage.

Ouch, I wonder how Mark Little feels about that.

I had a feeling. It's good to know that a writer or editor at least cringed before being put in a situation in which they had to put this up. It's embarrassing.

That being said, part of the fault is still with IGN. They should have made a clear outline of the content before agreeing to this IGN First coverage.

It's a good pressure ploy by IGN.

"Hey IGN readers we care about you, we aren't the bad guys here. 2K look at what's happening... better pony up"

Kinda goes to show that this isn't IGN's fault... and why would it be?

Some people make it sound like they're sitting on a treasure cove of gameplay videos and stuff and not releasing it because they don't want to generate clicks. They clearly didn't lack information and content during their previous two IGN Firsts... this definitely sounds like an issue with 2K and not IGN.

That thing is just one step away from:

Q: Will we be able to punch in WWE 2K15?

A: As we know, there are known knowns. there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns. That is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns, the ones we don't know we don't know.

Ah, it finally makes sense.

I read Unknown so much it started to look like unicorn.

At this point the only thing I'm looking forward to now about this game is downloading a bunch of weird CAWs and mess around with them. And I probably won't be able to do that too judging from 2K's silence over the game's features.

The Operation Sports article mentions that you wouldn't be seeing chain wrestling with someone like Big Show since that is not his style.

http://www.operationsports.com/features/1941/wwe-2k15-full-hands-on-impressions/
I saw a blurb about high flyers, grapplers, brawlers, and giants, but that could be simply talking about how the AI reacts depending on the wrestler. Like for instance, you wouldn't see Kane grapple or run much in the match and do more punishing moves and throat thrusts. But who knows!

I will check out next gen VGCW.

Also, what these games have been lacking is online federations. We have online franchises in most sports games these days. Why not wrestling?

This. The Diva's division is getting huge right now, and Paige is one of the biggest reasons for that. No way she's being left out of the roster.

Somewhat related note: I just watched the Ambrose/Rollins match from RAW, went in face-palming at how fans were allowed to choose between a no-DQ match, no-DQ match, or no-DQ match, and came out thinking "I JUST WATCHED THE RETURN OF THE ATTITUDE ERA!" I'm so ****ing stoked for those two! Getting flashbacks of the Rock versus HHH just before they became regular heavyweight champion contenders.

I'd really like to know what great things Paige has done for the Diva's Division.

The "Divas division" is just Paige and AJ swapping the belt back and forth. The only reason they even wrestle other women is to do that god awful 'distracted by rival coming down to ringside' spot that WWE is obsessed with. Shit is embarrassing.

is there still no direct feed gameplay available?

Wow. This has been downright embarrassing. There is no way this game is releasing for next-gen this year.

I'm taking faith from those on the forum that claim the lack of information is nothing knew from 2k. Apparently it happens with NBA 2k yearly. Maybe they are on track to release something for October 28th.

Rockstar is always hush-hush with their games until the last possible moment as well and they are under the Take-Two umbrella, just like 2k.

No it really doesn't show that at all. It sounds like it both of their faults.

You don't claim "firsts" if you don't already have the information. If they didn't already have stuff provided to them from 2K then they shouldn't have done an IGN Firsts for the damn game to begin with. That's on them.

2K are being ridiculous for this as well by withholding so much information this close to release, but IGN jumped the gun and should be held just as accountable.

I think that they didn't start doing mocapping until 3 months out from the game being released says a lot about the game. They say they've redone the engine and have more animations than ever, but the footage out there shows it to be the same game it has been for 8 years. The same animations. The same everything. Just prettier. The gameplay looked even clunkier than usual. They talked up the new My Career mode, but it is only for XBone/PS4, even though My Career has been just fine in the NBA 2K series for years on 360/PS3.

You think IGN would've signed up for this knowing they would get zero content? They're trying to drive traffic and with 2K not giving them anything, this IGN First deal makes zero sense for IGN to make. They've gained nothing from this.

They could've done any other game and gotten 4 times if not more the traffic just by having some content daily.

Doesn't matter that they thought they'd get the content. You do this stuff after you KNOW you have the content. Yes, 2K screwed IGN, but IGN screwed up by not actually securing content beforehand. Saying you are going to provide something before that something is actually in your own hands is ALWAYS a bad idea. 2K are being dicks, but IGN displayed some serious incompetence here.

Was talking with a friend and just realised that the last time they tried proper weight detection, they messed it up. Like Helms couldn't even slam Angle and it just made Khali unstoppable.

I really hope it's better in this game.

Yeah, I've gotta believe IGN thought they'd be getting a lot more then they've gotten.

I'm not ready to get into what we have today.

But we could, we just want to make sure all gamers experience today's new information at the same time, so we want to give fans the opportunity today to return from work/school or whatever they're doing. It's all about the fans today.
