I dunno what is it, I've been a fan of Ariana since she was in 13. And Gambino's a musical and lyrical mastermind. I had a chance to meet and talk with him back in April, so this is two wonderful artists I really enjoy. But I just couldn't dig this. At all.

I wanted to, I really wanted to. But I couldn't. :-(

Hmm... is it the lyrical content? Maybe you can't relate to the subject matter or you just don't like what's going on in the song? Do you prefer the ratchet Ferg song?

Oh the verse is definitely weak...imo. I think he was trying to channel BIGGIE a bit >_>. I'm pretty much just here for Ariana's beautiful vocals. The end of his verse sounds patched on, too.

I felt the lyricality of the entire song is very mediocre. I get the song's about finding out your man cheated on you with another dude, but I felt it really lacked lyrical creativity. I mean, Ariana's not necessarily known for that, but I hold Gambino to a really high lyrical standard... and he failed that with his feature.

I also understand the use of the whole Diana Ross/Biggie throwback beat ("I'm Coming Out" - finding your man's gay - that's a nice touch), but I just wasn't a fan of the beat either. It's not necessarily something I could jam to in my car, nor is it something I'd dance to at a party... It was just odd.

I mean, everything I've heard off the album is alright. It just feels like all the tracks don't have that... uniqueness.

Why Try is a wonderful song that shows off her vocal range. Problem and Break Free are really catchy, but they're your usual radio hits that are continuing the trend of dance-drops and EDM-esque infusion that's the trend right now. Rachet Ferg is just that... Pure rachetry. Best Mistake is alright.

A Little Bit of Your Heart is a great power ballad though. I dig that the most off the album. My Everything brings so many Whitney vibes, which was awesome too.

He's no Hopsin/Dizzy/Tech N9ne, but for a mainstream rapper, he has a much higher standard for lyrical quality to me than his contemporaries.
 
Love Me Harder is one of my favourite songs of the year. So smooth.

There's a ton of gems in this album. I think I prefer it over Yours Truly (certainly has higher highs), but I need to digest the album a bit more before giving a consensus. The only stinking turds are Just A Little Bit Of Your Heart and Hands On Me. The bonus songs are lukewarm as well, so I'm not sure if I'll go with the regular or deluxe.

I need to hear the Target bonus song, Cadillac. 👄
 
kind of funny victoria justice can't even get an album out but ariana grande is on her 2nd?
 
Not even a stan, just responding to the sexuality with which she is marketed.

But yeah, she's very pretty and talented. As is Taylor Swift... for the record.

Can't believe she released three albums in one year. She's like the white Rihanna, but without the hits, impact and iconography.

I want to like Ariana, but her face annoys me so much. Everytime I hear one of her songs I have to think of her forced anime facial expressions. And her voice is really mediocre as well. Can't believe people compare her to Mariah. That's like comparing Taylor Swift to Beyoncé when it comes to vocals.
 
as someone who really likes Yours Truly, i was a little skeptical about this album because of the collabs with shitty artists like big sean, iggy, asap ferg, and nicki minaj. not a fan of childish gambino either, but that track is pretty good. but those tracks with those that i mentioned above would have been %100 better without those jokes on there. thats my impression on my quick initial play through. really liking Love Me Harder and Be My Baby. Not on the same level as Yours Truly, but i can dig it.

Just heard that bang bang song. Ha ha, that's Wham. That line is a mish mash of Jitterbug/ Wake me up before you go go.
