Funny thing is that was the model I was tempted to get for an upgrade. So glad I waited.

Seems like it.

Yeah but that's a fairly big difference if we're to take it as a statement of intent, vs DSi software.
Also, I see mentions of PSPGo, but IIRC, the game runtime environment was static. Hardware improvements were for OS use only.
More I think about it, the more it smells of desperation.
Nintendo needs new things to buoy sales, but is stuck mid-gen.
So put out a revision. Cool!
But: their circumstances demand something more than a small revision might provide. The new model needs some extra pull over and above cosmetic or new color tweaks. So make one cheap and modest change to the game runtime (CPU), and dangle the fear of software lockout over your existing audience to push more sales. Lead the charge with a first party game.
'Cynical Nintendo' at its best, but these are probably desperate times for Nintendo. I doubt the CPU improvement is anything that couldn't have been put in the original model.
Two thoughts -
1 - The second C-stick looks like it's similar to a laptop 'eraser mouse'
2 - How did they fix the 3D viewing angle? Is this a completely new kind of screen? Everything I read about the 3D on the original unit made it sound like the bad viewing angles were intrinsic to the technology they used.

So it's basically a whole new machine. Its features either go mostly unused, or render the old 3DS (and 2DS) obsolete.
Not sure if I should feel happy for this news, or sad for my old portable (which I bought last year, and I'd need to replace it if the latter scenario happens.)

Actually I expect it will. Unless it only has to do with the graphics card.(Edit) Anyone know if this upgraded CPU will in any way effect non-enhanced games? I'm thinking not... but not having slowdown in games like Fire Emblem when you have 3D turned on would be nice.
Poor Nintendo of Europe. How the fuck are they supposed to sell the old model DS's this holiday when there's new models around the corner in early 2015? Why not release these for Christmas? I was sure that was the whole point.
Madness, just madness.
From the moment it has a retail exclusive game (and probably more) in the way, stops being similar to a DSi and becomes similar to a GBC and other new hardware (you know that getting a PS2 you had access to a vast array of PS1 games?)
So how much in /£ going by the 3DS/3DSLL yen prices?
Having bought the OG 3DS at launch, I am ready to upgrade to the next generation of Nintendo handheld consoles.
That shouldn't have been permitted at all, if the transaction had flagged at head office it'd be immediate grounds for an investigation.I did the something similar at GAME here in the UK, with the Nintendo trade in offer they had going.
Paid full price for the XL, he marked the receipt, took them both home and transfered, then went back with the receipt and continued with the offer. The difference refunded to my card.
GBA gen is the only time they didn't have a powered up model.
Im lost.
So whats the story here, given it has a second thumbstick (of sorts) and extra shoulder buttons, are we going to see games that ONLY work on the new 3DSLL? Will some games not work or just not run as well if they utilise the systems slight performance bump?
Seems an unnecessary segregation.
I dont really understand who this system is marketed for or why system developers would target this using the extra buttons etc rather than just target the much larger 3DS install base.
Why even do a small update like this instead of a new system entirely?
According to Google, about 120 and 140, respectively. Which is not bad at all.
I can't believe they did this. The second stick should have been there from the start and we now already have a high profile game coming only to this new system.
Fuck off Nintendo.
DS revisions were never this substantial as to make the system entirely different and have a control scheme only it has.
Very unhappy.
Just realised! Start and select are back to their normal sizes! XD
That doesn't look as nice. :/The letters are colored on the LL.
Is there any information about if (and to what extent) they improved the screen? (For 2D content I mean)
