Halo: The Master Chief Collection - Lockout 1080p/60fps footage

So, is there anyone who feels like HMCC will make them make the jump to next-gen?

Everyone's saying this'll be a system seller, but is this really a good reason to get into the 8th gen? To play 6th and 7th gen games with a frame-rate and resolution bump?

Don't get me wrong, I love Halo - played it to death back in the golden age (1,2 & 3) - but this feels like some kind of 'nostalgia reach-around' from MS: it might make you feel all fuzzy, but you're still getting fucked in the ass.

That's what you call 4 full campaign Halo games with all MPs and maps included for just $60 in addition to the Ridley Scott Halo show? Come on now. I think it really can be a system seller given the right circumstances and positioning, but I'm just glad to be able to have all the major Halo titles with the Master Chief on my next gen system, especially Halo 4 which happens to be my favorite of the pack. I'm dying to see how much better that thing looks on the Xbox One.

Is that really a reason to get into a new console though? A frame rate/resolution bump for a game we all played to death back in the day. Feels lazy as hell from MS. If I was still on the XBOX train I'd be as insulted as hell if they had shook that in front of me and said 'look what we've got for you!" Like I'm supposed to sit up on my hind legs and pant. Nah, fuck that, they're not gonna exploit my nostalgia with their cynical business model.

The overall value is incredible in this package. You do also realize that we're getting an absolutely amazing looking lineup of new games in addition to this, as well as the fact that a proper next gen Halo title is following just one year after this one, right? You make it sound like this is literally the only thing Microsoft are offering or dangling in front of Xbox One gamers. Jeez lol.

The basement with the green hue and monsters looks way better than the XBOX version but I think I like the XBOX version exterior more, aesthetically.

Of all the remasters we currently have out already and all the future ones coming, you decide to criticize the one remaster that is an amazing package for both single player gamers and multiplayer gamers.
I'm sorry but you're talking bullshit. There is no way you can criticize this package unless you have some kind of agenda which you obviously do.

Didn't criticise the lack of content... more the principle of the thing. Could be the best value for money in the world, it's still basically the most anticipated title on an eighth generation console and it's essentially four games from the six and seventh gen.

TLOU Remastered looks really smooth in 60FPS/1080p. Had a play through of what is probably one of my favourite ever games and, yeah, it was good to do it again, but I wouldn't have picked up a PS4 just for that. It's really great for all the new converts who missed it on the PS3, so that kind of justifies it, but I doubt there's more than a handful of converts on the Bone. This is being targetted directed at people who already know and love the Halo franchise.

I'm a bit sad now. The game looks amazing, but I just discovered a problem with Azure servers and the internet infrastructure on Brazil that leads to more then 200ms even with dedicated servers (TitanFall is an example). Shit! That kind of throw my hype away over all of this! :/

Well if thats your argument then er Halo 4?, its exaclty the same situation as with the TLOU remaster except in this case you are also getting Halo 1, 2 and 3 as well as Halo 4, 2 full 'anniversary versions as well, plus 100 mp maps.

I'm sorry but you are just not fooling anyone and the fact that this is the most anticipated game for many people on here and other game forums shows that your argument is flawed.

Yeah, you need to read my posts more closely: I said I wouldn't have picked up PS4 just for TLOU:R and I think Halo 4 is in the same boat. The only dfference is that there's a lot of PS4 owners out there who didn't have a PS3, so there's a considerable market. Whereas on the XB1 there's not very many converts at all... you see my point?

Nope.

There are a lot of drive-by salt trucks coming through. Does anyone remember the name of the map that was a space ship that was cut in half down the center with just a drop into space between?

Your argument is flawed, though, because essentially you're saying that the only reason that this is a cash grab, "feels lazy", and is the equivalent of "getting fucked in the ass" is because the One isn't selling as well as the PS4. That's ridiculous. Both projects were started long enough ago that no one could know the current sales results.

I will pretty much guarantee you that both came from the same thinking, namely that the exclusive list for this year was thin on both consoles, so they plugged the hole with something relatively easier, namely last gen ports.

Also, don't forget that two of the games on here are from the original Xbox, which is old now and was not a huge seller. It's entirely possible there are people who never really got to play Halo 1 or 2 back in the day who are now old enough.

I usually play Halo just for campaigns... but this is looking pretty damn good. A lot better than what I saw from Destiny.

I'm not the biggest Halo fan (mostly play the campaign and then multiplayer here and there with friends rarely), but I mean this is getting made because there was a demand for it. Halo 4 was good, but from what I heard from a lot of hardcore Halo fans is that the multiplayer was kind of lack luster compared to previous games. So now MS and 343 are taking the time to bring back what people liked while improving the frame rate and visuals, knowing full well not to touch the main game mechanics fans loved so much. And offering it all at a reasonable price surprisingly. <---Yep, what a bunch of assholes. Right?

1. TLOU:R was started in February.

2. TLOU:R has not been pitched as a system-selling holiday blockbuster.

The 'converts' they are trying to win are those who went from X360 to PS4. A lot of these people have some of their fondest gaming memories related to the Halo series and I think that combined with the great value of the entire package they will get a fair few of them to buy a second console earlier than they planned.

I'm not that in to Halo but this package looks amazing. I was never lucky enough to play Halo 2 online back in the day (only played the campaigns of the first two) so the opportunity to do so is something I can't pass up.

Damn that's smooth. Looks gorgeous, though I gotta say, it's the first of the remake maps where the lighting/color is just bugging me -- doesn't feel quite like Halo. I don't know that I'd want it back to all that plain icy blue of old, but the pinkish light with the green accents reminds me too much of Unreal Tournament 3. Ah well, still extremely pretty.

Can't wait for this. Everything I've seen about this package looks great. MS needs to put it up for digital preorder soon!

Someone must have forgot to put up the "Don't feed the trolls." sign.

Yeah, sorry, it's fairly clear what's happening here now. Sorry for my part in it.

Anyway, footage looks good. I haven't played Halo 1 or 2 in a long, long time, so it'll be fun to revisit them.

Wow that's really impressive, this must've been quite a bit of work. I remember playing Halo on PC ages ago, was really annoyed how the animations and physics were stuck at 30fps, for one reason or another. All the games are getting a new coat of paint, 1080p@60fps, this is probably the best HD remaster/collection around.

What you need to clarify is why you think this package is equivalent to "getting fucked in the ass". Because it's a big holiday release? It's a big holiday release because people really like these games and they're coming in a convenient package, with noticeably improved performance, and at a pretty damn good value. You're also acting like this is the only X1 exclusive this holiday. So again, why are people interested and hyped about this "getting fucked in the ass"?

Looks really good so far. Still, a large part of me wished that instead of MCC it was Halo Retrospective Remastered featuring my favourite one, ODST (I can only imagine how beautiful the updated New Mombasa at night might have looked like).

That said, I would agree that this is a case of exploitation of nostalgia except for those who haven't played the Halo games at all, as is with all games remastered (more so coming from last gen as opposed to two gens back). Still, 343i are making enough modifications in form and function to justify the asking price. Sadly for me, I am going to have to wait a year or more before I decide to get a xbone (if at all) but this collection will be my first definite buy (I'm one of few who enjoy Halo games for their SP not MP).

Two very different types of gameplay from what I've played of both, why even bring up Destiny in a Halo thread?

Direct competitor going head to head within a few months time frame. From the same studio (og). Why not. I agree with them... i love Destiny but the PvP is not even in the same universe as Halo in terms of how well it's designed and plays.

Eh, I grown out of the everyone starts with one bum weapon, fight for the rocket launcher, only aim from the hip style of play

Looks sweet though, Lord knows I put way too many hours into halo 2 in the past, but when it comes to nostalgia, imo, best to be remembered in memory

Define bum weapons

Definitely. Destiny PvP is straight ass garbage. The PvE stuff is pretty cool, but no matchmaking on most of that is keeping me from getting it :'(

3 games from the collection and Destiny are made by the same developer. But really, why even bring that up? Can't people enjoy both?

I know I'm gonna play both for the long whole. ;)

Strikes has matchmaking. And let's wait and see what's Raid about before they put matchmaking. And is it really that important to matchmaking on story mode?

And Destiny PvP is YMMV. Some liked it, I liked it as well. some also didn't like it and you didn't like it as well. It's that simple.

But that's another topic for another time.

so you are afraid people will convert back to xbox?
Not so sure what you are angry about?
