Halo: The Master Chief Collection - Lockout 1080p/60fps footage

What you need to clarify is why you think this package is equivalent to "getting fucked in the ass". Because it's a big holiday release? It's a big holiday release because people really like these games and they're coming in a convenient package, with noticeably improved performance, and at a pretty damn good value. You're also acting like this is the only X1 exclusive this holiday. So again, why are people interested and hyped about this "getting fucked in the ass"?

Fair point. That was the wrong choice of phrase - I'll admit that. People are getting a good package and if it's something they want, then I'm sure they'll get what they pay for. I still maintain this is lazy for all the reasons I've explained elsewhere.

Is that really a reason to get into a new console though? A frame rate/resolution bump for a game we all played to death back in the day. Feels lazy as hell from MS. If I was still on the XBOX train I'd be as insulted as hell if they had shook that in front of me and said 'look what we've got for you!" Like I'm supposed to sit up on my hind legs and pant. Nah, fuck that, they're not gonna exploit my nostalgia with their cynical business model.

What a stupid post.

Sorry, but it is.

I'd suggest not buying a Wii U, a PS4, or the X1 if you don't like nostalgia or remasters/remakes.

I'm not a Halo fan, and getting that many games/remasters in one package is a steal at $60.

c50rk

LOL, poor cocks.

I still maintain this is lazy for all the reasons I've explained elsewhere.

I'm sorry, but you're going to have to elaborate on how combining every Halo game, rebuilding them all to 60fps locked, rebuilding Halo 2 from its geometry to its textures, and combining every single bit of it's multiplayer AND SINGLE PLAYER into a single all-encompassing setup, is lazy.

Heck, you can pick random levels...say 3 from each game...and play those one after the other like your own custom game (I believe). I see nothing lazy here. Lazy is remastering a game with assets you already have at a higher level. This is anything but lazy. In fact, it's probably the most work I've ever seen in a remaster/repackaging. Show me anything even close to this that includes 4 games, rebuilding of assets, and integration of all those games into one menu/setup system?

I'm waiting :)

Lookin good. 343 and Certain Affinity are hitting it out of the park with H2A multiplayer.

I can't believe some are complaining about this.

This collection of games is probably the best collection i've ever seen. It's really a great compilation made with care and one that supports multiplayer. There's 4 amazing campaigns here, split-screen supported, online supported, 1080p/60fps supported and many more... all of that for 60$ and some still find ways to downplay that ? Please...

Strikes has matchmaking. And let's wait and see what's Raid about before they put matchmaking. And is it really that important to matchmaking on story mode?

And Destiny PvP is YMMV. Some liked it, I liked it as well. some also didn't like it and you didn't like it as well. It's that simple.

But that's another topic for another time.

My last comment on this since it is derailing, but the story missions were certainly not interesting enough to me to want to do solo and my real life friends are never on at the same time as me. That game is meant to be played with others.

On topic, I can't wait to take that H2 BR back online. Dedicated servers are going to make ranked matchmaking at least a little bit more even.

Your argument is pretty lazy too as it reduces to you feeling "insulted" by MS playing the nostalgia card to sell some consoles (how dare they!) while ignoring the most important thing, you get a great package at an extraordinary price.

Plus it's not like halo fans have been clamiuring for dedicated servers and 60 fps in halo, right?

Stupid lazt MS giving halo fans what they want!

My god it's so beautiful. SWAT with dat smoothness is gonna be sweeeet.

And I can't believe some of the complaints here.. 4 full goddamn games with their MP component in a single package re-done at 1080p@60fps. I can't think of any other HD collection release that comes even close to this one in value.

I was young when I played Halo 2 so I don't remember if this is true or not. Were the primary weapons the sniper rifle and that burst fire gun? I recall using the automatic rifle a lot more, maybe I just really sucked :-)

IIRC, players start with SMG's during matches in OG Halo 2.

no, the primary weapon was the SMG

eventually they updated it so that on the larger maps you started with an SMG and a Battle Rifle

I imagine it'll be the same way in Halo 2 Anniversary.
They are just playing with custom settings for entertainment

So, is there anyone who feels like HMCC will make them make the jump to next-gen?

Everyone's saying this'll be a system seller, but is this really a good reason to get into the 8th gen? To play 6th and 7th gen games with a frame-rate and resolution bump?

Don't get me wrong, I love Halo - played it to death back in the golden age (1,2 & 3) - but this feels like some kind of 'nostalgia reach-around' from MS: it might make you feel all fuzzy, but you're still getting fucked in the ass.

I didn't say it wasn't good value for money, but it's not what they should be using to push a newly-launched next-gen console: "come join the next-gen guys, all the games you already played to death back in your teens, only now better looking."

Didn't criticise the lack of content... more the principle of the thing. Could be the best value for money in the world, it's still basically the most anticipated title on an eighth generation console and it's essentially four games from the six and seventh gen.

TLOU Remastered looks really smooth in 60FPS/1080p. Had a play through of what is probably one of my favourite ever games and, yeah, it was good to do it again, but I wouldn't have picked up a PS4 just for that. It's really great for all the new converts who missed it on the PS3, so that kind of justifies it, but I doubt there's more than a handful of converts on the Bone. This is being targetted directed at people who already know and love the Halo franchise.

Yeah, you need to read my posts more closely: I said I wouldn't have picked up PS4 just for TLOU:R and I think Halo 4 is in the same boat. The only dfference is that there's a lot of PS4 owners out there who didn't have a PS3, so there's a considerable market. Whereas on the XB1 there's not very many converts at all... you see my point?

I don't see you listing any reasons for why this collection is 'lazy'.

Perhaps I'm just not seeing it?

Thing is... MCC is cheaper than buying all 4 games new.

Microsoft could have just straight ported all 4 games. They could have not bothered with Halo 2 MP, they could have not added online MP to Halo:CE, they could have decided not to port the HaloCE/2 multiplayer maps or gave us all the DLC maps (forcing us to rebuy them).

This is by far the best valued game collection out there before you even get into the details of how much work is going into the re-release... there is also absolutely no equal on that front, either.

Is it exploitation? Not even close. It's the ultimate fan service.

Stupid lazt MS giving halo fans what they want!

Sure, let gamers circle the drain on last gen's big hits if that's what they want - God knows people are most comfortable with what they know. It's still deplorable to have it as your most anticipated title on a brand new platform.

No idea if anyone knows this yet, but will online co-op for Halo 1 and 2 still be based on the original net-code? That is to say, will there still be no netcode? For Halo CE Anniversary online co-op was basically unplayable because of all the lag.

It was setup to basically emulate local co-op over the internet, so all commands had to go to the host box and then back to the client. It was seriously awful and ruined what my friend and I have been looking forward to for a long time (since we live in different states now).

Any word on that in the MCC?

Microsoft could of just released 'Halo 2 Anniversary' on its own as we thought it was going to be and people would of bought it, how anyone could accuse Microsoft being lazy with this package is beyond me, it puts every other remaster so far in the garbage.

I sense this gen isn't going to be for you.

you do realize there are other xbox one games, right?
it is only the most anticipated title because gamers want it that badly.

Could you be more condescending.

That's just a stupid attitude. How about you worry about what you like and not what other people enjoy?

Same position as you but with different circumstances. I never got Xbox LIVE until 2008, and when I did, the population of players in Halo 2 MP was small due to Halo 3. It was only during the day before they shut down Xbox LIVE on OG Xbox that I got to play with lots of people.

This remaster is my opportunity to play Halo 2 Multiplayer in it's glory. If the remastered version doesn't appeal to me, I can always have the original version to play in it. ;)

Oh man, Halo 2 was so good when it came out on Xbox. I played about 6 - 8 hours everyday for over a year. Man, those were the days.

All these keywords you keep sending out are rather funny. Lazy, insulted, deplorable, and god knows what else I've missed. It's bad because people want it. And it isn't like Microsoft doesn't have plenty of other games coming to the system that people are excited about or anything. Not even a new, proper next gen Halo.

First off, the 'most anticipated' title is completely objective. The only reason this is celebrated as much as it is is because people are genuinely excited about/really want this. If you aren't one of those people there are still other really good looking new titles coming (Sunset Overdrive, Quantum Break, Ori, Below, Forza Horizon 2, etc.). I don't know why I am feeding the troll, I guess you are really good at it - your arguments are so flimsy it is hard not to try to tear them apart.

Entirely lacking in creativity or originality.
Minimal Investment.
Minimal risk.

Minimal investment?

So redoing the entirety of Halo 2 campaign, making new cutscenes, releasing a TV series for buyers of the set, porting and integrating every single game at a deep level, adding features that have never been on console versions or even any version... recreating 6 maps from the ground up.. falls under your criteria?

There's huge investment. There is risk. There is creativity (Halo2A) and there is originality. (campaign and MP integration)

I love the way rival fans sign up to this forum and the first thing they do is attack their hated console. Its like they just can't help themselves, its more important to them than anything else.

He's extremely good at it, almost professional, which is why he keeps using certain bizarrely misrepresentative keywords to set people off and plant the thought in people's heads, no matter how insane we know the use of such words to be. And any and all reactions to it are giving him exactly what he wants. I know what game he's playing, but I still couldn't not respond to some of them. He's a master of his craft.

It's pretty funny. The rampant Xbox One shilling around launch got out of hand but the occasional new member who comes in to try and shit on any system because they don't like it is always funny to see. Some of their arguments are just so precious.

The warm lighting seems absolutely fine, and gives more color contrast between interior and exterior segments of the map.

Also, the reasons everyone feels to compelled to respond to that one poster should be the same making it clear why they're worth ignoring. They're either looking at things so differently that engaging won't be productive, or they're deliberately (which is my guess) structuring posts to get a reaction.

I don't know why I am feeding the troll.

If I was trolling I'd call you a butt-hurt MS fanboy and gloat about how much hardware Sony's shifting. I'm not doing that. I'm talking about MS specifically and the inherent cynicism of such a move. Someone who disagrees with you is not automatically a troll.

Just stop will you, you're embarrassing yourself now.
