Halo: The Master Chief Collection - Lockout 1080p/60fps footage

Didn't criticise the lack of content... more the principle of the thing. Could be the best value for money in the world, it's still basically the most anticipated title on an eighth generation console and it's essentially four games from the six and seventh gen.

TLOU Remastered looks really smooth in 60FPS/1080p. Had a play through of what is probably one of my favourite ever games and, yeah, it was good to do it again, but I wouldn't have picked up a PS4 just for that. It's really great for all the new converts who missed it on the PS3, so that kind of justifies it, but I doubt there's more than a handful of converts on the Bone. This is being targetted directed at people who already know and love the Halo franchise.

And yet you are acting like it is the only game coming out on the console. Halo 5? People don't buy a console just for one game. There may be one game that pushes them to buy it but there are a ton of other great games that are already out and coming out soon.

Lacking in originality and creativity. When you can't think of any legitimate criticisms, fall back on this tired method or attack and hope it sticks.

Lacking in investment in what way? An entirely remastered Halo 2 along with Halo 1, 3 and 4 getting a bump to 1080/60 doesn't seem like something that be done with minimal investment.

As for risk, why does a game have to be risky to be worthy of release or attention? What a ridiculous thing to say.

If I was trolling I'd call you a butt-hurt MS fanboy and gloat about how much hardware Sony's shifting. I'm not doing that. I'm talking about MS specifically and the inherent cynicism of such a move. Someone who disagrees with you is not automatically a troll.

I would normally agree with you: people are completely entitled to their own opinions. The only reason I said you are trolling is because a lot of your statements come off as blatant misrepresentations of the truth and not justifiable opinions. Perhaps I am wrong, but I just find it hard to believe that those are your honest thoughts and you don't have any kind of agenda behind them (even if only to rile people up). Sorry for being off topic, please don't try to turn this into an argument as I won't reply.

His whole beginning argument was that people would not buy a xbone for this game because of...feelings?

I don't even think anyone was talking about that?

That's what you call 4 full campaign Halo games with all MPs and maps included for just $60 in addition to the Ridley Scott Halo show? Come on now. I think it really can be a system seller given the right circumstances and positioning, but I'm just glad to be able to have all the major Halo titles with the Master Chief on my next gen system, especially Halo 4 which happens to be my favorite of the pack. I'm dying to see how much better that thing looks on the Xbox One.

lol, there's someone else too? I though I was the only one. I wish Halo 4 was getting the remake treatment but I won't complain about 1080p 60FPS. The best single player campaigned I played in any FPS.

As far as multiplayer shooters go, it's hard to beat Halo. This is going to be a monster package. Looks amazing.

I really do wonder how the multiplayer populations will end up divvying up between all the games. Like a survey of what people prefer. It's been my theory that this is the best way to get new info on what the fanbase wants for multiplayer, and they can tailor Halo 5 to suit during the tweaking window before it releases.

Halo 4 will look as good as some actual 'next gen' games, the game is stunning already.

I really hope that level of facial animation becomes closer to standard. And we're getting there as it is: launch titles like Battlefield 4 looked darned fine in that regard.

That will definitely be interesting to see. I am somewhat nervous that the large amount of content will cause some of the playlists to be barren.

Halo 5 beta will help too.

So, is there anyone who feels like HMCC will make them make the jump to next-gen?

Everyone's saying this'll be a system seller, but is this really a good reason to get into the 8th gen? To play 6th and 7th gen games with a frame-rate and resolution bump?

Don't get me wrong, I love Halo - played it to death back in the golden age (1,2 & 3) - but this feels like some kind of 'nostalgia reach-around' from MS: it might make you feel all fuzzy, but you're still getting fucked in the ass.

see its not nostalgia though.

Halo 1 and 2 are literally the best FPS games that have come out since their release. Nothing has surpassed them since.

So its not wanting to play these games b/c of nostalgia, its wanting to play the best games available and this collection allows us to do just that over XBL.

Sure, let gamers circle the drain on last gen's big hits if that's what they want - God knows people are most comfortable with what they know. It's still deplorable to have it as your most anticipated title on a brand new platform.
That's pretty subjective, ever heard of Quantum Break, Sunset Overdrive, Forza Horizon... you're acting like this is the only game X1 has.

Plus you keep going about relying on MS's last gen hits while forgetting half the package of this is almost 10 years old, many people including me haven't played the older franchise entries.

Yeah, taking a 10 years old MP engine and adapting it to work on a current gen console net, creating an in-house engine with a double buffer for the Anniversary games and increasing the resolution and frames of each game, all thrown inside a single UI with all MP levels unlocked plus new ingame content exclusively created for it. That's sure some poor investment.

Don't forget they're including a new live action feature which will probably connect with the events of H5 and introduce a playable character in the future, such lack of creativity and originality. No risks at all.

It certainly takes more investment than upping the res and frames of a year old game, of course it's perfectly ok for you because PS4 has more players than X1?

It will be a nice developer measuring stick for sure. And we benefit from having it all in one giant package.

Everyone will be playing H2 and 3. H4 will be ignored (as it rightly should be) and Halo 1, well, Halo 1 might get some action I guess, but Halo 2/3 is where all the action will be. Both games have the most memorable and best maps.

Then again, Halo 1, blood gulch.

Bro you changed your avi!
Not cool man not cool

Yeah WTF is this?

I plan on playing mostly Halo 1. The pistol is calling me.

So now officially we have Lockout, Ascension, Coagulation (which we haven't seen outside of concept art), Zanzibar (similar situation as Coag) and Sanctuary. I'm thinking we'll get 1 more large map like Waterworks. I wonder if they'll show anything else off tomorrow at the panel like Halo 3 in 1080/60 because that would be great.

I have a feeling that Halo3 at 1080p/60fps will look surprisingly good. The jaggies really let that game down but the lighting and some of the vistas looked amazing.

Looks awesome to me.
Anyone complain about the Halo 4 (343i aesthetic) yet?
I like both aesthetic directions, imo.

This game is going to be a MP beast for at least a year, right?

looks pretty great, I have no way of playing it mind but they done Halo 2 a good a service by keeping the core game play entirely intact. Its amazing the lack of sprint and Spartan powers brings back a real level of skill not really required in Reach or 4.

Speaking of Halo 4, it looks amazing. I could not believe it was running on the 360. Never got the hate for it, either. I think it's a damn fine game.

I thought 4 looked fantastic. Wizardry on the hardware. As far as the Forerunner architecture, some didn't like the new art direction. It looks like it is going forward.

It'll look better even, given that they're upgrading the lighting and shaders for both Halo 3 and 4.

It still blows my mind that this collection exists in the form that it does and it's only $60. This is easily up there with the Orange Box in terms of value.
