Was the pricing ever announced? You realise the New 3DSs are the same price as the old ones, right? They are going to phase out the old models.
Never just saw it.

You are mistaken, the GBC had a better CPU and you couldn't even turn a Gameboy on if it had a GBC game in it.I always thought that the Gameboy could play Gameboy Color titles? Am I mistaken there? I only a GBC, but I was always under that impression.
Nintendo is just the worst at naming hardware.
I think the main issue is the exclusive software. What if someone gets confused and buys Xenoblade for their Old 3DS?
Just because Nintendo had similar business decisions in the past, doesn't make this one any less shitty.
"New" 3DS is a quarter-way successor to the current 3DS. Primarily due to having exclusive games not available to the current 60m+ 3DS owners.
Did I mention the 3DS is only slightly over 3 years old?
Obviously they won't. If history is any guide, they will drop support of the 3DS and Wii U about six months before releasing the new hardware (and then fuck up the release schedule for the launch window).I don't see how Nintendo can support the 3DS, New 3DS, Wii U, QOL, and whatever next handheld and console they have in the works.
They will probably add an extra nub to the cart like they did for 3DS lol.And looking from a publisher's side. Do studios want to make a game that can only be sold to N3DS owners when they can market to all 3DS owners? Though considering there aren't that many third parties at work, I guess it's less important when Nintendo first party can afford those risks and make games only for N3DS anyway.
They announced the price in the Direct...Was the pricing ever announced?
The XL version desperately needs a higher res screen. Even if the games render in the same resolution, then upscale. You can see the gaps between pixels on the current model. It's 2014!
It's a revision. So is this the next generation of Nintendo handheld, or is this supposed to somehow be the game generation?

Game Boy could play GBC titles if they were not GBC only. You can think of these as GBC enhanced games (like DSi enhanced). These tended to be black cartridges.I always thought that the Gameboy could play Gameboy Color titles? Am I mistaken there? I only a GBC, but I was always under that impression.
Where do you get this crazy idea from? (edit: ah reading SD card...as DS card) The FAQ says you can system transfer from a DSi for starters and the FAQ also gives a list of non-working DS titles. Most of these are ones requiring GBA slot and warns that ones the use GBA slot will have features missing (e.g. Pal Park in Pokemon Diamond). i.e. things that already were non-working or nerfed on DSi and 3DS. If all DS software was non-working they wouldn't link to the list...Oh, so they did drop DS BC. Lame. But expected. Nintendo always does that with the latter hardware revisions.
So it's essentially...
GBC : GB : : New 3DS : 3DS
I'm in.
NoIs there anyway to wipe a 3DS to sell it but also then associate my account to a new 3DS when it comes out in a few months?
Every handheld revision for the past 20 years, like clockwork. Love it.
They have millions of people out there with the other 3DS models, or the 2DS. The 3rd parties are at least smart enough to know that requiring usage of these buttons is a bad idea. Remember how Wii games that required Motion Plus sold worse? NIntendo had to put this paid accessory in their remotes and still games don't use them.Oh you will see some games use them. Theyre gonna make us buy this new hardware revision we like it or not.
LoL, this is commedy gold. Comments like this are brilliant, haha! It's like a parody of the MANY comments saying "Nope, not gonna buy the 3DS XL because I'm waiting for the inevitable second analog stick revision" when said version was announced.
Sooo many people were like "Hey Nintendo, where the fuck is the second anlog stick?!?!".
Nope. Gotta keep it until it comes out. Or find another 3DS that someone isnt using to transfer to.Is there anyway to wipe a 3DS to sell it but also then associate my account to a new 3DS when it comes out in a few months?
I still have Smash and Persona Q to play but if I could sell mine in January for some extra cash that would help.
My body is ready for New New Love + Plus 3D.So will here be a game titled "New Super Mario Bros. New"?

C'mon Nintendo. Really? A New 3DS with better specs? A New 3ds with an already announced exclusive?
Why? This is so stupid imo.
You can get the exact same new buttons with a circle pad pro.I can't think of any revision of Game Boy, DS, Game Boy Advance, Game Gear, Lynx, PSP, or PS Vita, that added extra buttons (gaming buttons, not volume stuff) or control sticks. Better redesigns are to be expected, but changing the entire set of controls on the system is a terrible idea.

I think the system should have launched with this stuff, don't get me wrong. However, when your company makes a product like this you have to go for compatibility and stick with the fundamentals you started with. There is already enough brand confusion as it is, with 3DS, 3DS XL, 2DS, and now new 3DS. One of which has a completely different control set than the others. How is the average buyer supposed to know that certain 3DS games can't be played on their system?

No I wouldn't imagine they would, but locking out "new" exclusive games to the millions of current 3DS users is a huge slap in the face.

Believe me, you don't want upscaling. Best thing to do is use the same resolution screen. It would be like making bigger screen TV's 3K instead of 1080, despite things always being at 1080. Native resolution is always best.
Was gonna say something of this sort.Damn, the white one with famicon buttons is pure sex.
