So don't release it and give us a proper successor say in a year or so be it Fall 2015 or early 2016 like Feb ala when the original hit.
Do you have any idea how much the DSi added to the Nintendo DS family sales? 28.43 million for the DSi and 12.92 million for the DSi LL/XL. Like the DSi, this is just a stop-gap for the 3DS until they release their actual next generation handheld. No way Nintendo is going to not attempt that strategy again.
Seeing all those responses makes me want to see Nintendo release new handheld hardware every year, with a tick-tock mechanic. People already have that in smartphones, time to put it into the handheld market too. Few people will complain, apparently.
And seeing your response makes me realize that you have no fucking idea why Nintendo released this. They've always done these kinds of revisions to their handhelds. GBC. DSi. No one complained then. Games that they bought for their OG devices played perfectly fine with the new revision.
But that's dividing your customer base, especially big games like Xenoblade which has a lot of buzz. If more games get created under the new revision and are not backwards compatible with older 3DS, then how is that not a slap in the face.
If they labeled it a new handheld that's a different story, because it would explain why newer games built around the hardware wouldn't work on older 3DS.
No what they are doing like they did with the 2DS is creating another re-vision of essentially the same device minus a cpu bump, battery life, better 3D, and upgraded thumbstick, that will have specific games that only iy can play.
But yet they are still calling it a 3DS, how does that not piss people off who are buying the still available 3DS and 3DS XL?
Because people can still play their old 3DS games, so nothing was really taken from them that they don't already have? The new 3DS is an updated, more powerful version of their device that happens to take advantage of that new power by releasing software exclusive to it. If you have a GeForce 256 card, do you bitch that it does not play Crysis, and that you need at least a GeForce 6800 for it? No. You don't. You shut up and go back to playing Quake III instead.
Theyre not going to phase out on it, the regular 3ds is still selling like hot cakes. Whats a bad move here is marketing this as a new 3ds which currently plays the games that are released. But dince this new 3ds has a better cpu. One extra circle pad and 2 extra shoulder buttons. We will ser games that cannot be played on our older 3ds. Like the new xenoblade. Its a big fuck you to current owners. And xenoblade wont be the last of it. They wont release this console just to have it collecting dust in retailers and not sell.
Theyre going to market this as a must to play new games. Since new games will take advantage of the new cpu and buttons. Like for example, with the n64 expansion pack. Sure some games could be played without it, but it ran like shit.
Jesus Christ, will you stop it with the "big fuck you" bull? This is a device that is more powerful than its predecessor; if it is able to play a game that can't be played on an OG 3DS, why wouldn't someone take advantage of it? Did you make a big fuss when the GBC got Pokemon Crystal as an exclusive?
When this gets released, will your existing 3DS cease to play all current 3DS games anymore? No. Like all new techs, it will have features that an older version will not. This is not done to spite you or anyone; it is just natural for them to take advantage of more powerful hardware. This isn't some big conspiracy to rob you of Xenoblade Chronicles, or any future exclusive New 3DS titles. It is the nature of the beast. If you're raging that your less powerful device is not getting the same stuff that the newer tech has, then you might as well give up technology, bud. Because it fucking marches on.
Just because Nintendo had similar business decisions in the past, doesn't make this one any less shitty.
"New" 3DS is a quarter-way successor to the current 3DS. Primarily due to having exclusive games not available to the current 60m+ 3DS owners.
Did I mention the 3DS is only slightly over 3 years old?
Did you know that when the DSi was released, the DS Lite was just a little under 3 years old? Did you rage that time too?
