Halo: The Master Chief Collection - Lockout 1080p/60fps footage

Graphically great, and I can't wait to play this map.

But.

Please consider fixing/changing the maps color. The orange just looks gross, the cool blue color correction makes a world of difference. I would also say it could use some icy fog/clouds on the horizon to add to the atmosphere.

That is pretty much the entire point of a team game, no? As soon as you somehow get a feedback how you -personally- did in a game (like in your example a points-based system), the whole team rank concept fails.
I gave an example of the Sunflower in PvZ; you get a ton of points healing people, not just from kills, and rightfully so because she's the healing class. Sure it's an example of a class-based shooter, but the philosophy behind point distribution still applies.

It doesn't matter what you do -personally- - as long as the -team- you are involved with wins, you win, too. League of Legends and similiar games do this, too. Because how do you want to develop a system that considers every single action you do - bad or good. What is a good action? What is a bad one? What is an action at all?

The only thing that matters in the end is that you win the game. Every other fair and competetive ranking or progress system with a -personal- scoring would be nearly impossible to build.

The whole ELO system is rather complicated. However, one fundamental idea about the whole system based on maths is: when you are better than in the ELO area you play, you will rank up. A usual 4vs4 match as an example. You have -three- randoms on your team, the other team has -four- randoms. If you simply keep on playing, you have a higher chance in ranking up than the other guys - if you are stronger and deserve so of course. Ironical I talked so much about teamplay, but exactly because of that, in the very end, you are responsible of your own destiny, -personally-.
Yeah, I wasn't arguing the ranking/progression systems (bars filling up, 1-50 ranks, etc.). I'm only talking about getting more points for doing other things, and one missed opportunity IMO was not giving players who threw down a Regen. Field points for healing their teammates. If I throw down a healing station in PvZ, I get coins for it, that's what I'm talking about.

That encourages players towards the other aspects of Halo rather than focusing so hard on their kill counts. Defense wins champions, not homeruns. If you can work well as a team and not die, the other team isn't getting kills. Control the map, control the enemy team's movement, the kills will come. Players want the KILLS first and everything else to happen as a result; that's an unfortunate mentality that's fed by these postgame carnage reports that boast K/D ratios.

Btw, anyone else disappointed that they kept it restricted to MC's legacy? Do any of you miss not having the opportunity to see what Reach and especially ODST may have looked like with a new makeover?

I hope 343 explores the possibility of adding more H2A remakes as DLC. A bunch of my favorite maps (Headlong/Water Works/Containment) don't look like they're going to make the cut. T_T

It looks good, but honestly, compared to TF/CoD/BF4, it looks boring. I'm on of the few that never got into Halo. It has good value for the money, no doubt about that.

I still have my fingers crossed for Containment to make the cut.

To be fair, if you're not a huge fan of Halo, if you were to just judge by the recent tourneys/gameplay videos you'd be missing out on what the other half of Halo is.

Huge maps, 8v8, large-scale vehicle battles (flying, ground, etc). That's where it's at for me.

Having seen that tweaked screenshot and messed around with editing them myself, the map definitely looks way better if that red tint is removed in favour of bluer or more neutral lighting.

True.

I'll be probably end up getting it (for value), but when I saw clips of TF, CoD, and BF4, I never thought to myself "this looks kind of boring". Of course, that's just my opinion.

Fair enough. It's def. a different experience than those others. With Halo at least you get the option of a more competitive tighter, small map play-style or a larger more "loose" play-style w/ big-team-battle, etc.

Which one you like more will be up to you :P (if you end up getting it).

There is no way I can play the MC collection on my main 720p tv, I have to hook this thing up to my monitor and enjoy it to the full.

Shotgun doesn't seem to give much visual feedback when hitting someone while the smg and br cause shields to splash like mad, 343 pls.

That blue tint looks horrible at that angle. Maybe we should just trust the artists on this one.

I have no doubt that pros would be able to do a far better job than my 2 minute rush job. But the artists are the ones foisting that nasty red tint on us, so...

I'm happy with bluer, or more balanced lighting. Just not that red.

I would play on a rainbow inspired lockout. I don't get hung up on colors.

I think this was way more than we could have ever realistically expected for the package, so "disappointed" I am not. I do think it would be cool to see ODST and Reach remasters someday though. I think Reach is one of the best campaigns and I never finished ODST's due to getting screwed by the save system and never picking it up again.

This is the map that me and my friends played the most back in high school. I am happy they decided to remake my favorite map. Me and my friends will be going at it again come November.

This looks a ton better also. If anything they should remove the orange hue, move the sun above the mountains and make the sky more blue/cold/stormy. From there they can have some orange light peak out in concentrated areas, painting only a few isolated areas (BR tower?) in the warmer, reflective hues.

I have already seen this footage multiple times, can't get enough. OH MY GOD. Just release the game already.

Mmm... I prefer the white lighting we've been seeing around a bit more. Still, both are better than the orange.

We got washed-out, Halo 4-style color pallettes.

We got amped-up, Halo 4-style earfuck sound effects, too.

I'm so happy CE, 2, and 3 will be in original format and online.

Certain Affinity does a great job doing those remakes, but I'm sick of this Forerunner metal look.

Why not add more Human or Covenant art style to those maps? I hope Halo 5 has more variety.

Lockout was the first map I played on November 9th, 2004. Ran down the driveway after the bus dropped me off (I was 15, just shy of being able to drive) and grabbed the package by the front door. That beautiful LE case (now wrought with rust)...

This game will own me for months.

Apparently they may be making Coag with UNSC style bases, so there's that.

Wow, this looks really good. Like, really really good. I haven't played Halo since 2 originally came out, but a lot of time was spent on this map. I may have to get an Xbox One when this drops.

Halo in 60fps still looks awful and completely unnatural to me. Maybe it just takes some getting used to...

It took me all of two of the campaign / Sanctuary multi demo videos to get adjusted. There's definitely some weirdness at first, but once my mind registered it was Halo at 60FPS it felt surprisingly snappy.

Watching MisterMonopoli speed run Halo 2 is making me thirst to play through the updated Halo 2 campaign. I can't wait to see what each area looks like.
