I'm glad you guys (I think it may have been Freeza) told me about the omnibus, otherwise I would have bought all the trades separately and likely spent double the price. I love Skottie Young and the Wizard of Oz, so this seemed like a no brainer haha.
I finished up both volumes of Stumptown today and can't even express how much I loved it. I should have known to trust Rucka, he hasn't failed me yet, but it still makes me happy to see such a strong, female portrayal. Dex is such a smartass, and I love it. I think I maaay have liked Vol 2 a little more than Vol 1 due to the supporting characters, but both were a great ride.
I hate this revolving cycle of reading something by a great writer and then wanting to go back and pick up even more by them. I've already read Rucka's WW, some of Gotham Central, Batwoman, Lazarus, Cyclops and have his Punisher run, but have never gotten my feet wet in his Queen and Country stuff. Seems to be one of his most recognized pieces of work, so I may hunt down the definitive editions of that.

Ok, decided to read Morning Glories, and holy shit. What the hell is this? Simultaneously the best and worst comic I've ever read. I'm ordering the next collection right now.

But it kept going on and on and on and on....it started to feel like they really had no answers, just more questions to put out there.

Morning Glories definitely reads better in trade format. The stories just keeps getting more and more convoluted by the issue, and I can't imagine having to deal with those cliffhangers on a month to month basis.

It might really work when read collected. But month to month lost me when I couldn't keep track of all the character motivations, revelations and plots going around.

Spencer crafts these actual likable characters, then layers mysteries upon mysteries until you're sick of them.
I feel bad for the monthly readers who expect some kind of resolution in the next issue but never comes...

My wallet was happier not knowing this was a thing.
I will not willingly read anything she has done going forward. Good or bad.

The best thing they did down the road was add the guy analyzing the issue you just read. This long form intricate series only will really work with a guide like that or reading it all once it's done. Trying monthly with call backs months or even years is just too much. But I still enjoy the ride enough to keep reading

I believe it, and maybe Catwoman was a terrible fit for her. But she dragged it on for 20 something issues. It became clear she had no regard for the character or the world she inhabited. It was depressing. I do regularly hear that her Daredevil was good. But she is not for me. I hope she never deals with any books I enjoy. I don't believe dc are crazy enough to put her on Harley when Jimmy and Amanda leave.

So last night I decided to re-read the original Wolverine mini by Claremont & Miller. To my surprise its the only wolverine tpb i own, and considering the number of trades i've acquired over the years i found that a little interesting. Anyway I decided to go digital with this read through CMX. I havent read this mini in probably a decade and holy shit it was way more awesome than I remember.
This might be the best written thing I've seen Claremont do. Not his best story, but i've never remember Claremont being so...restrained. I've gone back over the years and read tons of classic Claremont x-men stories and though they are a lot of fun, He's never been a favorite writer. He's the definitive x-men creator but his style was way way too busy for my tastes. I know its probably a throwback way of doing it but all his characters are constantly talking about what the art it self is showing...out loud. Its a discredit to the artists that is clearly showing the same exposition.
And this isn't Miller's best work but the two combine for something special. Claremont keeps Wolverine more silent and his inner monolog isn't just retreading what the art shows. Miller gets some ninja action which was his go to drawing in the 80s, and we get a very nuanced wolverine. In a lot of ways early Wolverine is the best wolverine. I read this and remember why he was such a fun power fantasy character as a kid. The character is very balanced. He's got berserker rages but not too far. He has a healing factor but he's still vulnerable and the healing takes time. Its not just him running around with god mode enabled. He has honor but only to a point
Anyway way its a great read if you've never gotten to it. And if its been ages since you've read it (like me), take an evening and give it another re-read. It is one of the best wolverine stories out there.

I'm perfectly fine with simple. I don't like other dimension stuff with Catwoman. The Gotham City and how it reacts to her angle always appeals to me. I also love the Catwoman vs Selina hints today.

I've been enjoying Low and Black Science so why not.
Well, when it releases it'll be $60 off, so you'd practically be losing money by not buying it.
But man, I really, really want to own an Artist Edition eventually. I bought the Born Again Artist Edition a while back because I found it for pretty cheap, but after a bit of debating whether or not I actually wanted it, I decided to sell it (without having opened it, because resale value and all).
Once I catch up on Hellboy, if that Mignola Artist Edition is still in print, I'm pretty sure that'll be mine.
I personally think so. I know a lot of people in here don't care for Cullen Bunn, but I personally have enjoyed his work and I like Deadpool, so what the hell right!? Most of those series are highly rated on Comixology as well, so some people out there agree with me

Oh hell Yes. It's one of the best avengers run I've read. The best in recent years until Hickman showed up. And I still like Busieks run more so far. his Ultron arc is great and loved the Kang arc. Also check out Avengers Forever

Finished Superman Secret Identity. Didn't like the start, but it became absolutely excellent very quickly. Particularly loved how Lois's nose got bigger as she aged, such a nice detail.
Hm, Busiek is quite old, explains a bit of the tone. Had never heard of him. Off to find out if Astro City is as good as it looks.
