Grayson's future end

fuck this shit I know nothing good gonna came out from this gimmick month

Helena backstabbing Dick, and he hanged up on the rope

WTF is going on with D.C. books this month?

Just checked CMX and there is this whole Future's End thing with every book.

Someone please hold me!

What exactly is supposed to be the point of Futures End? Is there going to be some event that will then change these futures were seeing this month?

Probably dropping Harley Quinn in the near future. Girlfriend is bored of it and I've been bored of it since the zoo issue.

I just don't get it at all. All that will happen is you get bizarre twists with no context and little follow-up that will inevitably be wiped because "5 years later" will never actually arrive, and when it does there will be new creative teams not beholden to the missteps of the past. I hate it. But I also hate it in Batman Eternal how they keep squeezing in flashforwards in the main Batman title. It makes the rest of the story up until the flashforward less relevant.

Sure, if you hate fun that makes perfect sense.

I'm gonna save so much money this month.

That's subjective. I'm hoping the new arc will help. It's been spinning is wheels. The roller derby and skate club hasn't done wonders for storytelling or advancement. The Delinquents may end up taking its spot in our rotation; the most recent issue was a more "fun" read.

There's a roller derby issue? This is relevant to my wife's interests. What # was it, and would anyone fancy selling me a physical copy if I can't find one?

There's been a few. There's at least 3-4 issues that revolve around her joining a team and playing in the sport. Most recent issue was about an underground 1v1 deathmatch.

It's multiple issues. Harley is part of a roller derby team in the book. So it pops up regularly.

Cool ta.

Just had a google, seems interesting and her birthday is next week... if I were to buy one issue that was particularly derb-tastic what would you guys suggest?

Not the most recent. It would have to be one of the earlier ones where she is being taught the sport and breaking the rules. The most recent one, while it had roller derby, was light on the the actual sport and more about the killing. Plus it diverted with an introduction of a new story arc for a few pages that had nothing to do with Harley as of now.

Didn't they explicitly say it was going to happen?

Which is stupid, because it is clearly, clearly never actually going to happen, and stuff like this makes it more obvious.

Heck, if DC still haven't restarted the universe (again) in five years time I'll be really quite surprised.

I rather expect a new Crisis in at least 5 years and the return of the old Universe with some Elements of the New 52.

Moon Knight #7 was suprisingly good. A bit wordier than typical Ellis issue, but dat cliffhanger made sure it stays on my pull list.

Nah I doubt it. There is nothing gained in reverting and they've never reverted only moved forward. You're expecting people to suddenly have to learn a massive continuity again for no reason? That's not inviting to anyone besides die hard anti-new 52ers who obviously don't make up enough of a market to have mattered since DC is still doing fine marketshare wise.

#1 has most or #9 I would say if my numbering is correct.

Ah that's a shame, no way I'll be able to get #1 when it's so popular. I shall have to keep it's existence a secret :P

Comics time isn't analogous to real time either, 5 years in comics is like 20 irl.

It's a dumb fucking idea straight up.

My take on it: A dystopian future that could happen if things turn out a certain way. Certain factors, such as Terry (Batman Beyond) are trying to change things so that they don't happen that way. Sort of a longer form "What if?" storyline.

As to the Future's End month gimmick: Expanding the Future's End idea to other characters that aren't touched on in the weekly. So, a line wide "What if?"

Not falling for it, Splatt. In 7 issues you're going to realize this is the most boring comic you've read since....well, Brian Wood's X-men.

Uncanny X-Men:
Of course there's a secret hidden super strong mutant that Xavier has been hiding away for years and blocking his power. What the fuck. Still a great issue. Loved seeing Cyclops finally flip out against all this bullshit passive aggressive sniping from the ~good ones~ Iceman is a dickweed.

And lol at Dazzler and Beast's awkward reunion. Bendis just loves to shit on her and it makes me so happy. Can't believe this loser dated Beast once.

X-Men:
More callbacks to my favourite story ever, "End of Greys." Guggenheim is a good fit on this series. Really works well with the other books in the franchise as it's the more traditional superhero fare without being boring garbage like Amazing X-Men.
