I love how everyone is happy with Original Sin because it was an event that wasn't offensively terrible.
I'm glad I don't read events. Haha

Choo Choooooo! Lets get Zombine, Kipp and Cheska on this train!

Wait, why me?

Oh man. Just read Doom Patrol #52. So amazing.
Cliff Steele is such a great character.
RIP Mr. Nobody. :'(
Also, The Toy showing up at the end was hilarious.

Oh, and Philip Bond's inks made Richard Case look like a whole new artist! That was a stellar combination.

Mr. Nobody's death seriously bummed me out.

Also, picked this up at the library today.

Finally got around to starting Preludes and Nocturnes.

"I am hope."

That whole segment is seriously cool. And I love Choronzon's speech bubbles.

Yeah, same.
Oh, and I totally love how Morrison gradually made them almost an ally of Doom Patrol rather than their enemy. That made his death even worse. Especially when even Cliff wanted to save him (well, even though that was mostly down to Cliff being Cliff, rather than Cliff being convinced that the Brotherhood of Dada wasn't an enemy). Oh, and also, I loved how Cliff was totally bummed out at the end of that issue because everything went to hell and he couldn't stop it, even though he went to the event to stop the Brotherhood and the outcome was that they were stopped. Now I'm kind of just rambling, but mostly I love Doom Patrol so much.

And nice! Let us know how that is!

Dude, they really get fucking brutalized there.
Agent !'s parting moment made me sad.

Yeah, that was really well done too.

Trying hard not to read JC's Southern Bastards spoiler 'til I can grab my books tomorrow. How come it doesn't seem like anybody else is reading this great fucking comic?

I read his spoiler without getting the comic yet...no regrets. I like the whole comic except for all the people in the letter column talking about their experiences living in the South. IDGAF about that.

Ok, Kipps off this fucking train. He's barred. Let's get Grandharrier!

the epilogue ended up being my favorite part of that Doom Patrol issue,
with the little girl who picked up a piece of the painting, threw that rock and skipped along. That sense of free-wheelin' anarchy and carefree fun lived on in the people who are still alive to embrace it, which might be Grant Morrison Pet Theme Numero Uno. You, the reader, have read this story and will hopefully carry with you in your own life in your own way.

Original Sin is.... basically fine? Surprisingly? It suffers from the "...and here's some teasers for some books we want you to buy next!" thing like these things tend to, but it's inoffensive as fuck for the most part.
I wish they'd bring out guides on which books I should read and in what order, because a lot of this stuff makes no damn sense. I read Avengers and Captain America was doing his usual thing, read Uncanny Avengers and now he has no super soldier serum, picked up Original Sin 008 and there he was with all of his powers again.

It gives me a bloody headache when I try to keep track of this stuff.

Lot of back of the box quotes from ComicsGAF on Original Sin

"another masterwork from the ever-lovin' House of Ideas" - the guy who loved Fear itself

"Terrible" - Dat Guy

"Inoffensive as fuck" - half-black/half pasty Asian man
"The best Marvel Event since Inhumanity!"

"It stands on its own as a piece of literature."

"Quality as good as its paper."

"Speaks volumes of today's voyeuristic and sedentary life. There is a little Watcher in all of us."

Holy fuck the end of Southern Bastards #4

Tubb got his ass handed to him by Boss. This book manages to make me so damn angry in the best way possible.
You know this book is going to get more and more complex and violent until the very end, whenever that may be.

This is probably pointless to ask but

Death of Wolverine related

How the hell is Nuke alive? Was it somebody else or does Marvel just not care anymore?

Just started Doom Patrol #53. This Kirby throwback story/art is awesome.

Yeah, that was a totally perfect ending. I absolutely loved that.

This one gave me a hearty chuckle

OH WOW @ Southern Bastards. Holy hell what a nice
redirect. If we were watching the lead in to Tubbs' daughter coming in and wrecking shit that's amazing. Even if it isn't it's still amazing. I can't imagine she won't be a major player either way. And I kinda hope Tubbs isn't dead but....well...

Nah he isn't dead, but that's not to say he won't be dead by the end of this. I think they introduced his daughter to show that she is capable AND black. Will she return? Probably. Will she get called a racial slur? Probably. Who Tub mame whoever says it? Yes.

Original Sin was a giant waste of time.

What caused Thor to become unworthy?

Marvel's desire to make a female Thor.
-
Tried reading JLA: The Nail. Couldn't do it. Yeesh, that thing's just... eh.

Planetoid was great fun, thanks to the dudes that were pimping that.

I cant stand Slott's Spider-man. And it feels like he has been on that title fir a literal eternity.

So ready for a new creative team.

Marvel's desire to make a female Thor.

Ya, but what caused that to happen? I figured it would be explained in this series, but nothing. Was it in some tie in? Considering there are like 15-20 superhero books with better writing/characterization/artwork than Original Sin, what is the point of an event book where nothing major happens? White Nick Fury got sidelined years ago. No one cares about the Watcher or any of the books villains. If you didn't buy the tie-ins you didn't even have a clue what these terrible secrets were. The biggest event of this series was the fact that Marvel got 100k of us to dish out $32 for this:

God Hates Astronauts was so fucking amazing. It's the kind of thing I think NASA Scientists talk about when they get shitfaced. Intentionally funny and shitty book is intentionally funny and shitty with a real story hidden underneath.

8/10

ComicsGAF, is the Forever Evil hardcover worth it? Looks interesting

Borrow it from the library. It ends decently but it's a garbage version of the Morrison/Quitely JLA: Earth 2 book for 6 issues.

Two good things came out of it:
Ultraman snorting Kryptonite, which will never not be funny,
and these four pages

That's exactly how I would rate it so far.

Yep. That's one of the many things that makes the run as a whole so fantastic. Morrison knows just when to throw in the fun/funny issues to mix things up.

well just get ready cuz #54 is pretty heavy and #55 starts this giant snowball rolling down hill that you won't be able to stop reading until you've read #63

I am interested in God Hates Astronauts but haven't read the previous trade. Is that required reading?
Not absolutely required because
there's a hilarious recap segment in this issue that gives a quick 'n' dirty rundown of previous events
but if you can find the TPB you should absolutely give it a whirl.

GOD HATES ASTRONAUTS IS KER-AZY Y'ALL

It's a decent story but the delays and crossover stuff killed the momentum. Probably reads a lot better as a trade/collection.

I dunno man
that looked like a caved in skull

That's what happened to me. I thought I might slow down a bit and wait for Kipp and Tyrant but I couldn't stop.

Yesss. I'm so looking forward to that. Tonight I've only got time to read one or two more issues, but tomorrow I might be able to jam through the rest of the issues.

that'd be great, then we can nerd out about it. Its so nice to see some people discover my favorite run of comics.

She-Hulk and Spider-Man 2099 were good this week. The art on She-Hulk has been hit or miss, but the story is definitely enjoyable, even if it feels like hawkeye-light. Spider-Man 2099 isn't great, but it definitely scratches a certain itch.

If you're paying for it--absolutely not. Really only the Bizarro parts are worthwhile.

Ok. Thanks. I guess if I see it for cheap at a local con I might get it, but I'll hold off on getting it now.

Look Marvel, I'll trade you Spiderman 2099 for a Spider-Gwen ongoing. We got a deal? I'll throw in Superior Foes.

I'm putting you all on notice right now: any votes for this month's best that don't include a showing by God Hates Astronauts #1 will be immediately discarded.

I'm kidding!

Not really.

...Maybe.
