Apparently "stepping on jordans in the hood" is a great prank idea

Sometimes a good sock in the face is what an asshole needs. They wont do it, again i'd bet.

Or you get punched/stabbed/shot into the hospital by him and/or his friends, not worth it for non-permanent damage on your new sneakers.

But again, it could be just the difference between you and me, not saying you are absolutely wrong here, just a different point of view I guess. :)

These videos make me puke. It saddens me that they have so many subscribers as well.

people love having their fears and prejudices confirmed. "look at em. the n-words and the yo's getting so upset over their prized possessions...they love it." Lets them pretend they're so civilized and superior when they'd call for someone to be drawn and quartered if they ever kicked a dog.

I mean, 80% of the comments are "see? exactly what I thought. it's just shoes dude, calm down lol"

Just sounds like fear on your part now to be honest. Dont know how his/her friends suddenly jumped into the mix.

Because a stranger's light step on your foot always warrants instant violence. I wish more people had the ability to swallow their pride and chill the fuck out.

I don't get how prank videos have gotten so bad over the years. I miss stuff like the Japanese crowd prank where they aren't trying to harm the person involved in the prank and everyone can walk away laughing. Seriously if you can't do a prank were the person involved can't laugh at themselves afterwards then don't do it. You are just being a asshole otherwise.

The "light step" is more insidious than what you're implying. All of the "light steps" are obviously deliberate. But fuck the victims right?

So wait why wasn't there more outrage over this post? Imagine saying this about any other race.

Lol that's indeed a ridiculous racist post. I don't think that is tolerable. Dunno if a mod would slip that if one would read it.

I wouldn't say that about any other race, because I'm not racist.
Thanks, folks..I was in need of a chuckle. lol..

Also, Jordan's suck..almost as bad as these idiots.

If it was a light step and didn't include fight me innuendo and getting up in their face then yes you'd be right.

the violence isn't the issue. (oh dear, violence. my word) the issue is inciting direct confrontation and trying to instigate a fight.

Some sweet dear hearted fellows in here are fooled by the video makers couching their bullshit under the premise of a "prank" or a "joke". "Oh it's just jovial boys going around having fun, why do people have to be so serious lol?" But if they actually said "hey we're going to go around trying to piss people off and make them fight us" suddenly the intent isn't so jovial and innocent anymore is it?

Our society is made up of some understood but unstated agreements. You don't try starting trouble with strangers, and you operate under a general policy of respectful uninvolvement. That's how you live in cities in close personal proximity to so many other people. You don't go around shoving people, you don't go around calling people names, you don't run around flipping hats off of heads or trying to humiliate people. You do those things, don't be surprised if you end up finding someone with a problem.

You do realize that that the light step and resulting "beatdown" is all staged? Fake? As is, these 2 assholes paid people to step on their sneakers and put it up on the Internet for people to judge and mock. As in, these people most likely signed something that allowed DennisCeeTV to put this up without blurring faces.

Victim is a strong word to use if they're complicit in this.

I'd be upset if this is how people react to getting stepped on, but I'm much more upset at the insidious implications and the resulting comments coming out of these videos.

Even then...

But maybe I turned into a hippie in the past 10 years.

I was expecting buggin out in this thread and wasn't disappointed.

Scuffed Jordans must be a heavy NYC thing because in Philly its not as serious as somebody scuffing your tims :(. I almost got assaulted for almost tripping over somebodies boots.

I have to ask gaffers - is that how you would react if someone stepped on your shoe on purpose? Thinking about it - it's probably all fake. No way do random people react like this.

I own Jordan's, and yes, I'd probably react the same way the guys in the video did. They purposely tried to damage my property. I don't take kindly to that, be it my sneakers, car, house, etc. Don't disrespect me like that (especially things I work hard for to buy) and expect me to laugh it off.

If it was an honest mistake, then it's a different story. People make mistakes.

To each his own ofcourse but all this ''disrespect'' talk baffles me.

Is my ego so small or yours so big? ;-)

We're all posting under the pretense the video is real. If it's all fake (which I agree, it probably is) then this discussion is pointless. I'm still kind of shocked at some of the responses though.

Maybe I did too, but I'm not going to expect that everyone else has. If you're hip, then you understand difference phases and different stages.

and I would see the inciters as more insidious, especially since it seems not only deliberate but multifaceted ill-intent.

I'm not. I mean, the video is real, we're looking at it. But what it's portraying? I'm not going to look at it in only 2 dimensions.

The discussion isn't completely pointless though. Those Youtube comments, man...

It's like people want an excuse to push racial superiority bullshit now.

How is doing something to get your ass kicked a prank? It just seems like more young people operating under the assumption that no matter what they do, nothing will happen.

If these are real ( and I have my doubts) I think it's like any other prank series where they pick out the reactions that fall in line with their vision. I'd imagine that a majority of people didn't actually react like this and this likely took a while to film.

They purposely pick the "hood" for these pranks because they know they'll get these reactions. This has nothing to do with black people or the hood either, you can go to pretty much any place with young males, step on their shoes and pretty much film angry reactions.

But they play to their audience. The majority are most likely young white males, and this is just something taboo and exotic. "Ooh watch as I go up to this young black guy and say, I'm finna throw my hands up cuz" and when he's going to get angry or defensive, I'll film it, take a punch because everyone wants to see something shocking. Imagine how many guys are chill or don't react. Everyone loves a prank backfire which is why they specifically pick these areas or do thumb things like, "can I kiss you", steal someone's phone, or want to pick a fight.

I'm not. I mean, the video is real, we're looking at it. But what it's portraying? I'm not going to look at it in only 2 dimensions.

To clarify, there's two arguments that are rising from the video. Firstly, the reaction of someone stepping on your shoes intentionally. People are saying theyre overreactions and others don't. If this video is fake then it's not a proper way to gauge that's how someone would react (although I can see such reactions being not too far from the truth).

Then there's the racial subtext which I agree is irrelevant on whether the video is real or not. The fact that these scumbags thought of this idea, the title of the video also supported by Jados post makes things apparent beyond the video.

If you think the anger comes from the material value of the shoes, you are seeing it wrong. It comes from having a stranger is insulting you in public.

!00% this

I was reading those YT comments and geez....

It's like if some stranger came up to you and spit on your shirt. It's not about the shirt.

Unless you're of the mindset that it was, in fact, the majority that went hood crazy..beating up on these good natured youngins that were just innocently trying to get a chuckle from their viewing audience..because "yo! My Jordan's." or whatever.

I want to first apologize on behalf of all white people.

second, jordans suck. I wouldn't even waste my soles on them comeatmebros.jpg

props on getting your ass mashed for views I guess?

ridiculous comment.

any ethnicity can be assholes. Would you be apologising for black people if the pranksters were black? No because that would seem racist.

guys were assholes but nobody deserves getting physically attacked over shoes, you should be apologising for the prankiee's overreaction.

I'm not black and thus cannot apologize on behalf of black people. I can partially apologize for hispanics, however. I have a chart somewhere if you would like to see it.

Life isn't hard enough in poor neighborhoods without these guys coming in and acting like clowns? This isn't a prank, this is just inciting people who have been kicked around by society to act out. It's really embarrassing behavior.

I don't mind that a mod hasn't seen it; mods can't cover everything. Just that generally when you see an incredibly offensive post, people will quote it over and over to the point of thread derailment. This got quoted 0 times on the 2nd page, 3 times on the 3rd page, and if memory serves once on the 4th page (haven't checked beyond that), with comparatively mild reactions. I would say wishing an entire race of people to die should be pretty shocking.

Take that as a hint you should stop overreacting and backseat modding. Nobody cares.

As for acceptable pranks, I tend to think the best one is Too Much Tuna

So you're telling me, if you were just going about your day minding your own business and these idiots came up and started stepping on your shoes that you'd be fine.

Prank or no prank, I wouldn't let some little punk kid get away with messing with me just because it's a prank. Also look at their other videos, some of them they go to the point of taking peoples phones from them.

These guys did it for a reaction to put up on youtube so all their little friends could laugh along with them and get the views. They deserved what they get, as they should respect others as they would themselves.

This isn't about race, it's about three kids that are just plain and simple assholes.

Many, if not all, of these 'prank' videos are fake.

If it were to have happened for real I would expect more than a few fists. I would have expected a stabbing or a shooting, as I have seen them happen over shoes.

I did see one of these videos where they said some racists remarks to people and a few of them pulled out guns and others pulled out knives.

Edit: I found the link on Reddit where I saw the video, but unfortunately, the video was removed by YouTube. Link: http://www.reddit.com/r/videos/comm...ly_antagonize_black_folks_as/?sort=confidence

while I do agree these instigators are fuckheads but the reactions seem a little over the top as well. Then again, I only have one pair of shoes.

If a black "prank" crew did this in a white neighborhood, they'd be shot immediately on some stand your ground type shit.

Not in my neighborhood.

Everyone would hide in their houses.

True story: a few days after moving into my house I was messing with some ivy on the tree in the front and an old white lady came over to detail to me where all the minorities lived in the neighborhood. I was told the guy across the street was black, but that he was "a good black."

Location: Back in '84 I could throw a football into Seattle... although I do live just North of Seattle, and there is a history of racism up here. It's where the white flight happened as many of the blacks who live in this area came up from California and just sort of naturally settled mostly South of the city as it also happened to be more urban. The real estate community colluded for decades to deny property to blacks North of a certain point in Seattle.. all the way into the 80's.

Really wish this dumbass logic would stop getting repeated. Other than use, shoes are no different from any other piece of personal property. Adults usually have to work for what they own and try to take care of what they work so hard to buy. Not only that but it would piss alot of people off for someone else to blatantly disrespect their property.

Just because you see shoes as whatever and are fine with a $20 pair of sauconys from Walmart doesnt mean everybody should feel as carefree as you do about things that they spend money on. Who are you to decide what other people should value?

Listen, I know shoes are a fashion statement, But you wear them on your feet and you use your feet to walk around in dirt and other shit on the ground to protect your feet. The shoes are going to get dirty, they aren't always going to be clean. Beating some dude up for stepping on your shoes is dumb. Shit like that happens all the time and I don't care if you are in love with shoes, it's dumb. I'm not telling anyone how to spend their money, I'm saying it is fucking stupid to complain/ beat someone's ass over shoe scuffs. The dudes scuffing up shoes are dumb because they are being purposefully antagonistic, but the reaction that some of them had to beat his ass over a scuff on his shoe? If you think that's ok then good for you buddy!
