ComicsAlliance's article on Wes Craig's Blackhand Comics has me completely sold. I love when an artist has mastered shadowing.

I'm definitely making a point of going to see Scott Lobdell at Rose City this month. He is to me as Nocenti is to Messi. I'm going to find a particular issue of say, Teen Titans, and have him sign it and say, "This issue, this issue is where joy died."

Was there really an exact issue though?

Edit: You got nothin' on me, Messi!

Why are there no big Northern CA conventions? I went to stupid Wizard Con in my hometown of Sacramento this year, but it was all TV stars and no one that actually works in the comic book industry... their artists' alley was a joke.

Don't we self moderate well enough anyways? We're a pretty damn good democracy and that's why Mods don't pop in here to break shit up more often. I think you guys forget that Bish said he creeps this thread the most in the OT and he hasn't posted since like two months ago.

The only reason why we would need anyone is because we've picked up more regulars.

I haven't decided if I want Lopresti to sign my Sword of Sorcery or my Justice League International. I had the pleasure to meet him at ECCC: He is super nice and more than willing to chat with you. I was so bummed I forgot to bring something for him to sign and he was full up on commissions or I totally would have had him do an Amethyst.

My biggest disappointment is that I'll miss this amazing sounding panel: "The Art of Saturday Morning Cartoons" because I'll be participating in a gaming tournament. Lol, I almost want to skip it just to see that.

I did always assume we would end up in a civil war situation here. I didn't think it would be me and Cheska. More like me and Zombine.

Somebody should write a persiflage to Marvels Civil War with Messi as Iron Man and Cheska as Captain America.

(Or the other way around)

Sword of Sorcery's cancellation still hurts - it's criminal than Amethyst is not used more in the greater DCU. I love her appearances in JLD, but she definitely could benefit from wider exposure.

Edit:

Why is no one talking about Gail Simone and Ken Lashley's new Secret Six?

Black Alice and Catman are the only two members confirmed. The remaining unnamed members can be seen on the cover.

Asked my girlfriend to choose between Annihilator and Copperhead; she chose Annihilator. So next week we'll be starting Annihilator, Wild's End, and Edge of the Spider-Verse. Add in The Delinquents, Dark Ages (not the best debut), The Fade Out, Low, Bodies, and Names, we have several new series we are considering for our regular rotation (Names and Bodies are mini-series, so much easier to consider). Death Vigil may be on the chopping block in the near future if the other new series work out better.

Yep, Amethyst should've been big. Love that comic to pieces and Lopresti's art. What an expressive world ripe for stories. It's on my checklist of comic superstardom. Now she just appears in Future's End. Her design looks like Messi after reading Noccenti's Catwoman....

Well shit I just now learned of this, looking forward to it.

Oh my goodness. That's seriously cool.

I love that the one guy got his signed:

I wonder how much that signature cost him.
Why is the most talented of the Moore brothers not working in comics right now? It's been over a year since he last updated. Brah single handily tricked millions into thinking TWD was good....

I haven't been keeping up-to-date with Future's End but I do remember her making a few appearances. The fact that she's featured in DC's big event, albeit alongside other "forgotten" or overlooked characters gives me hope for more consistent appearances going forward, even if not in her own book.

I didn't recognize the other people on that cover. Shame Deadshot is in Suicide Squad and Ragdoll is doing something in Batgirl.

Edit: Wait is that Talon?

I thought it was Talon too. I'd have no complaints about that, I'm just happy to have Black Alice and Catman back.

So I think I just read through 400 pages to finish Doom Patrol over the past few hours

I'm gonna agree with everyone else who is reading the run for the first time-- this comic is a complete masterpiece. I did find quite a few sections to be a bit overwhelming in the beginning but over time you just kind of soak in everything and realize it's not as complicated as it seems. All of the characters were just fascinating in their own ways and I literally enjoyed every single arc. I just want to give Cliff a big hug. He deserves a medal.

Part of me is interested in other Doom Patrol series, but Morrison's handling of the team along with his absolutely insane arcs just makes me feel like I'd be setting myself up for disappointment. If you're on the fence, check it out. I was intimidated and confused multiple times throughout the series, but if you stick with it, you will be rewarded. It's amazing how Morrison builds up these worlds and backgrounds for such small arcs and one-shots, and it works every single time.

Is it just me or does Chris Claremonts run on Uncanny Xmen takes a serious nosedive in quality from issues 239 - 269, before Jim Lee comes in and saves it with the start of X-tinction Agenda? It was almost a struggle reading through those 30 issues. So many nonsensical plot points and storylines...It really seemed like Claremont got extremely bored during that time.

Hmm, I thought it was alright. I liked a lot of the stories like Inferno, the introduction of Jubilee, the Lady Mandarin story, the Reaver's capturing Wolverine.

But maybe towards the end, it does dip in quality. I hated the stuff with Forge and Banshee's X-Men and the lame Gambit story with Storm turning into a kid.

It warms my heart to see more people discovering and enjoying Morrison's Doom Patrol =)

I was always interested, but the omni gave me the kick in the butt I needed to actually check it out

I have Animal Man to read next, but I think I'll read through Batman volume 2 first since Cheska gave it to me

Animalman's great, and the ending will give you feels.

So since the topic of signatures just came up: Anyone not really care that much about the actual signature? I'll admit I'm not super huge on getting stuff signed, but for me it's interesting because it's a chance to meet someone who's work you respect face to face, if only for a brief moment, and to in turn kind of say "here's something of yours that I really, really love." The signature is just kind of a memento of that moment in my mind, so something like buying an a signed work just seems pointless to me.

That's totally just how I feel about it personally though, and I definitely don't want to put down people who are really into them. Just wondering how everyone else feels.

Like I said though I'm not much of a signature guy in general. In fact one of the few I have is a Ultimate Spiderman vol #1 that used to be a library copy that's battered beyond belief that my friend handed off to me at the last minute when we got in line because he wanted to get a signature from Bendis. Thing is in hilariously poor condition for a signed book, haha!

Broad she be a member of the Titans....
