PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | September 2014

you know, playstation allstars battle royale is not that bad, i mean, it isn't great, maybe not even good, but the internet made me believe it was an utter pile of unplayable garbage and it simply isn't.

the game has potential and instead of changing a few aspects just so "it is not a smash clone" sony and whatever devs developed this should just embrace being a smash clone and try to fine tune the smash elements

shame this game apparently didn't sell blockbusters and so a sequel is unlikely but i'd like to see one, a more refined one, it would be great for sony to have its own brawler, also, they should/should have cut the name to just "playstation allstars" or "battle royale"
I think the game is good. Very casual but good.

The game just looks so damn ugly though.

For me, It's better than smash already. And the reason it is is because of the differences from smash that actually make it something close to a fighting game.

I would assume (And hope) that SAO:HF sold more than 2000 copies. That's just the number of reviews for the game on the US PSN store.

Only reviews? .....Well, it is a digital only tittle with a sub-par English Translation, so I don't think Bamco expected the game to set the world on fire :l.

Either way, the game is selling, and that is a great thing :D.

I actually points to the part "small" in that phrase. They are niche studio, but not exactly really small.

You know, I feel like having a deja vu. It seems like we always have the despair of Vita discussion every month or so. Is there any month that only has positive news?

It doesn't help that I am playing Danganronpa 2 at the moment either

You can always visit this 150+ Vita Games Thread :D. New Vita games are always announced, so seeing all of them in one neat place is cool :).

What abilities can you recommend for armor? Auto-haste, auto-protect, auto-phoenix, auto-potion?

Auto-Protect > Break HP Limit for Monster Arena Killer
Auto-Phoenix for Don Tonberry Grinding
Auto-Haste for your main 3 and no more. Otherwise, grinding gets really hard because of reasons.
Ribbon. Go kill Yojimbo a few times. Get them for your main 3 at least.

I got auto-haste and protect on my main 3 right now. Good thing I haven't put the auto-potion. I guess I'll go with the auto-phoenix for my 3rd one. For the 4th one, I'll go with Ribbon but it seems like it is hard to get one lol

Your armor depends mostly on what you want to achieve with the game.

If you just want to finish the story, then go for Auto-haste, Auto-protect and Stoneproof. No need for anything else. And don't even think about Auto-potion, it's useless.

If you want to max stats and go for the Monster Arena, Dark Aeons or even platinum the game though, the you will need at least a couple of sets of armor.

My main choice for most battles was Auto-haste, Auto-protect, Break HP Limit (because OCD) and Ribbon.

My other set was Auto-haste, Auto-protect, Auto-Phoenix and Ribbon or Stoneproof (Mainly because I found out that if you have BHPL, the higher your HP, the less effect the Tonberry trick has).

Unlocking all the monsters in the MA will net you enough to get all these at least for one armor or more, and if you decide to farm spheres to get a perfect Sphere Grid you'll eventually get more than 99 Dark Matters to create one or two more Ribbons. And that's without counting the Ribbon-equipped armors you'll get from defeating some super bosses.

Also, check a FAQ to see what foes you can bribe to get materials for your armor. After a certain point in the game I had so much Gil that it was just faster to go into the MA and bribe some fiends.

It's. Finally. Over.

After almost a year, I have finally platinum'ed Rayman Legends.
The save was promptly backed up to the PS+ cloud and the game was swiftly deleted. 1.3gb back on my card.

Good riddence.

Don't remind me about this. Trying to go for the platinum made me go from liking this game to almost despising it. Ever after that I've decided to plat only games I truly love.

I think I read that only like 2% of people actually bother rating stuff

Read the same. Far less than 10% of people rate stuff. Although we have to assume that Vita owners might be above the average gamer in this respect.

Sony Smash Bros is the definition of a 6 or 7/10. Tehnically solid, but missing that special something. In this case that special something was production values. Roster was missing notable third party characters while the existing ones came across as adverts. There was a severe lack of content in single player. There were balancing issues (lol Raiden) and that terrible WIP UI.

Lack of variety in modes also.

and a notable 1st party character...i'm still pretty salty.

Shinobi hinting new Gravity Rush at TGS!
and not on Vita

....I think we all know that was the case for a while now X(! Sony clearly doesn't want to fund Vita-exclusives anymore, so outside of this years last batch of Sony games, that's it for Sony support :(.

Considering this is a Studio Japan game and the fact that SCEJA really wants to support the Vita (at least in terms of letting third parties make games for the platform) alongside the Vita doing okay in JP, Gravity Rush and Soul Sacrifice 2 will both be cross-platform games (PSV/PS4) with the PS Vita being the 'core' version while the PS4 version will be the 'fancy' version (aka the one with the better graphics and what not).

While this won't help the Vita sell at all in NA/EU, at least the game will still land on Vita (...if Sony bothers to bring over the Vita versions to NA/EU; can just see them only making the PS4 version with there lack of caring about the Vita despite having Vita versions already done X() :l.

.....I hate this, the fucking PLATFORM holder ignoring its own system that THEY made.....so frustrating :(.

This reminded me about the lack of a unified art style and Superbot's inability to model characters perfectly. To me, that doesn't look like Dart from Legend of Dragoon. That looks like a sickly cosplayer's rendition of him.

Sony and all its missed moments of greatness
someone needs to edit the preorder cancelled Shahid gif (photoshop someone else's face on it please as Shahid has done plenty for us gamers) to GREATNESS DELAYED!

Does SCEJA really make decisions for SCE japan studio? Nope. Yoshida does, the wws. If he wants GR only on PS4, then he will get it.

......Welp, guess my idea of the game being cross-platform got shot right down X(. At least it is even being made at all :l. Even though I am a bit irked that they pulled Tearaway (you know, the game that was built to ONLY work on Vita?) and are now making a sudo-sequel/remake/remaster/ect on PS4, it is nice to see such a beautiful, charming and creative game land on PS4 :D. The system sorta needs more quality 3D platformers after all :).

it's pretty close actually, just a darker shade of red than it should be in that render there:

Not only was Dart going to come to PSASBR but so was Abe from Oddworld plus a Journey/Gravity Rush stage.

I hate the scoring system, and I think that's the most obvious flaw of the game.

What was wrong with the scoring system? One kill is 2 points and one death is -1 points IIRC.

I dunno, SuperBot's looks pretty close.

Abe would have definitely been interesting.
and boy did i ninja you

it's existence is known. and i think it looks not half bad

Shame that SSM/Sony/SuperBot decided to cancel it. I'd imagine sales and interest would've gone up abit. I can only hope they make it into the possible far off into the future sequel...that is developed by ND and named appropriately.

It's how you can only kill with super.

Eh, I like that aspect of the game. Pretty exciting if you can land a level 1 super or 2 and get 3 or more kills. Levels 3 even more so.

maybe they can revisit the older idea of a CTF game.

i always found it helped to play for kills, like 10-15 instead stock or timed

Big question is why are you still playing that?

The only good trading community left just ~2 months after it started was Japan's forums.

Until bad people from other forums started posting there, too.

I just play it occasionally, have a good trading partner though

I didn't know Destiny of Spirits used to be a thing.

Finally finish chapter 3 of DR2. For the series that supposed to be touting about hope, it sure leaves me with nothing but despair.

I don't think it's new thread worthy, but here's an interesting comment from Tabata when asked by Gamespot about a possible Vita and PC version of Type-0:

I wanted to explore Tabata's thoughts on bringing Type-0 to Vita and PC. While porting it to the Vita seems more unlikely than the PC, he reiterated that they are only focused on the console version for now. At least Tabata acknowledged that the live demo was running on a PC. "First and foremost, with the Vita version, we wanted to quickly release the PS4 and Xbox One HD version overseas, so we really prioritized optimizing it for those platforms. In terms of the PC version, it’s still up for discussion. It is a possibility, but it’s up for discussion. And it's running it on the PC right now, so…"

I know a Vita version is all but dead, but I found it interesting that he implies the possibility of ports.

Heads up. Anybody who played the disc version of Minecraft PS3 prior to August 29th also now owns the digital version of the game. I figure this is to set up the vita cross buy situation, but I never bought the game and bam im downloading the full thing right now. Guess I have to buy the PS4 version now because I feel bad.

I'm sorry now I've played PSASBR I'm fully licensed to say anybody who claims it's better than Smash is talking out their ass.
anyone who says PSABR is better than Smash is nuts.

toro, kat and
raiden
are the only redeemable aspects of PSABR

hopefully sony will outsource PSABR2 to an actual company who can make fighting games

Recently I was browsing the PS Store and came across an old 2D shooter. I'm pretty sure it's a PS1 game and thought it looked interesting. I tried to look it up the next day to buy it and can't find it. I don't know what it is called and feel like I've searched everywhere. I think I stumbled across it when it showed up in recommendations. I think it cost about $7.50 AU.

I know it's not much to go on but if anyone could help me track it down it would be appreciated.

So did you guess the right person/out come? I've only finished chapter 3 so far, but they've all been very well done. Hoping to finish chapter 4 tonight or tomorrow.
I did. It was pretty obvious that
it was Leon as soon as I saw the message on the bathroom wall. How the evidence was disposed of made it even more certain since it was easy to see the crystal ball was thrown to activate the switch, which made sense for the ultimate baseball star. By the way a little gaming in general pet peeve here. Me figuring this out extremely quickly while my character acts like an idiot. I mean seriously, how did he not realise it spelt Leon inverted straight away? My character is an idiot. I didn't figure out everything before the trial though. It didn't occur to me that the victim was the one who planned murder first.

What did it end up being?
You can't just say that and then not say what the missing thing was
Basically I just hadn't talked to one of the characters a second time. A clue I recieved meant I had to talk to one last character again in the dining room. I figured I'd already talked to everyone and for some reason just didn't bother trying to talk to this one character again. I figured they had said what they were going to say and I was missing something somewhere else. I was wrong.
