Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XV: Kübler-Ross Edition

Because going through a second menu would be too hard for y'all, right?

Competitive Smash players were debating whether or not to use them. One of the major arguments against it was that it would be too time consuming to go through another screen and back for every individual player.

Although, part of me wonders if customization on the CSS is only possible on the 3DS version due to the fact that everyone gets their own screen. It might not be possible on the Wii U version.

This would be the bad part. :/

It's only confirmed to be that way for the 3DS version so... it means little for the Wii U one.

Imagine the amount of time it takes to disable 'tilt jump' in the customization menu in brawl.

Now imagine it randomly turns off every other battle, and you have to go allll the way out, change your custom setting, go ALL the way back into brawl, then everyone has to set their names again (those don't save when you leave brawl).

That's how long it would take to switch custom moves. Not too long, but if you're making EVERYONE ELSE wait for you to change custom moves, they're going to start to get angry. Even worse, what if EVERYONE wants to change custom moves? You're now putting another 2-3 minutes between EACH fight. You could have had another fight in that time period.

If it's a pain in everyone's ass, no one is going to use it.

Oh, and ZaHiro (one of the Reddit guys who played the demo) told me he couldn't hear whether or not they were still using the Brawl victory themes for veterans.

That'd be pretty dang lazy if true.
It was definitely using them at Smash Fest. I'd actually be surprised if it'd changed now.

Although I hope Ness gets back his 64/Melee victory theme, irrespective of Lucas's return.

They break up in to teams for things

The idea is that people can meet AKB48 members so they keep expanding to have more shows in different places.

They're also the best example of how awful idol culture in Japan is. People become obsessed with them. The more popular ones are not allowed to have any social lives. One was seen with a man once in public and had to issue a crying video apology where she shaved her head as penance because so much of the audience was angry.

Wow that is pretty crazy. :/ I wouldn't be surprised if these groups have a fairly short lifespan. And great Simpsons example.

You're also missing the nightmare scenario where they each spend about 5 minutes talking with their coaches on which moves would be best to counter their opponent.

I was wondering..

When equipment was first shown, it was Mario, equiped with a glove, an overall and a boot.

Those equipment classes (gloves, overalls, ..), will they be character exclusive? :p I mean, will one piece of equipment be only usable by one or a few characters?

Like, if Mario and Luigi are the only ones who can equip overalls, but cannot equip tunics, that are only for Link and Toon Link.

If it works like this, the game will have a massive amount of equipment to collect :p

Marth nerfs be damned still gonna do my best to adjust to him!

That said that Capt. Falcon knee landing lag is criminal, why does the most fun move in the game have to come at such a heavy price!
I have no problem with it having crazy landing lag if its still really satisfying to pull off, it'll just make it more hype when it does land cause you can't throw it out willy-nilly.

Smash 64/Melee use EB's Eight Melodies, while Brawl uses Mother's Eight Melodies for both Ness and Lucas.

I love all of 'em, really, but I hope we get a new one...
Ah yeah that's it! I wonder why they didn't just let Ness keep his original and give Lucas a new one. I love the violin in the Melee fanfare :D

Falcon's knee seriously has over a half second of landing lag? God, I hope that's not indicative of any of his other aerials (and I really hope they un-nerfed it otherwise because Brawl's knee was super tame and not deserving of that kind of lag, at all). I want Falcon to not suck :(

Marth getting nerfed was expected. If Falcon is bad, Marth is bad (and Lucina is worse), I guess I can hope ZSS is good. Otherwise I am probably going to have to venture into new territory.

Its kind of weird that it took this long for someone to confirm selectable custom moves from the CSS if true. Seems like something that would be immediately shared if its as simple as navigating another menu after character selection.

The same impressions that mentioned Falcon knee lag said that the rest of his aerials were essentially lag-free.

i am really late to this impressions thing. Questions: is shield stun as low as in the tournament demo?? can you act as fast as before after using the shield?? are dodges still really good?? Basically, is the "shield game" still so strong!? THANKS.

Except down air, that still has quite a bit of landing lag apparently (not surprising, though, it's never been very low on the landing lag).

I'm just talking about at home, with friends and family. I don't even want to imagine tournament stuff.

If D1 is right, then I could see a lot of potential with it to buff up low tiers but mainly depend on their normal attacks (running, tilt, jab, smash and aerial) but if special moves helps those characters out then I would allow that.

However, I can't really see it happens in first year. They probably need to figure out what made the characters good or not before they decided to standard the custom move sets for the characters.

I'm content with the roster, but here are some fun ideas for DLC:

Five character packs, timed to promote upcoming games, but you can opt for a Season Pass, like MK8 (and maybe like MK8's DLC, doing so could add new character colors and costumes):

1) Chorus Men and Ice Climbers: Let's say Sakurai gets multi-man characters running well on 3DS (assuming it was ever an issue in the first place), and they time this to the release of a new Rhythm Heaven on 3DS or WiiU.

2) Inklings and Lucas: Inklings come with male and female alts, while Lucas has a Kumatora alt. Timed to promote Splatoon.

3) Elma and Wolf: Elma being the iconic first character you meet in Xenoblade Chronicles X. Timed to promote that game.

4) Squirtle, Ivysaur and Mewtwo: A Pokémon pack, full of retooled veterans, perhaps timed to coincide with an announcement for Pokémon Z or Pokémon X2/Y2 in 2015.

5) SNAKE: A Metal Gear Solid pack, timed to coincide with MGSV, with alts for Solid Snake, Naked Snake, Old Snake and even Punished Snake.

All of the above is pure fantasy, obviously. But it's fun to imagine. They could have new stages, items and assist trophies, as well. And new music!

Amazing! Game changer if true.

I don't get why, though. I expected that from the beginning. Why wouldn't it be there? And it being right there in the character select screen means nothing for tournament play. Every single stage is right there in the stage select, still a majority of them are banned. Seeing as customization is off by default in the "For Glory" mode (that's correct, isn't it?) it may already say something about it's potential to fuck up the balance. It will be evaluated once the game is out and the tournament scene might as well go with the same rules.

Yeah, some TOs talked about custom moves rule sets being worked on for a couple of moths after the Wii Us release.

It should definitely be a part of tournaments day one. Give everyone time to test out custom moves in a competitive setting and if they prove to be a broken mechanic see what needs to be done. Chances are they'll help level the playing field nicely.
