Makes my task of getting a commission from her much more difficult.

It's only fair. Sorry.

Wouldn't personalizing the commission be a pretty easy way to get around that? I assumed most commissions were personalized anyways.

Holy crap, the ending of Deadpool 18

So I've decided to read some Marvel.

Black Widow, Punisher and Ms. Marvel to be exact. Only a few issues into each, but they seem awesome.

And I read the first issue of Moon Knight. Great stuff.

I wish I stayed more up to date.

the fourth world vol 1 is now complete. I think I need a break until tomorrow. My brain is fried from so much Kirby-ness. Still really liking it. The only issue I haven't liked was the jimmy Olson issue with the bizarre celebrity cameo? Uh..yea I want that to be over soon.

I think she stopped doing at-show commissions because of flippers...though she did do some Harley sketch covers to sell at her table at SDCC.

I'll have to ask the crew at Paperfilms to hook me up. I really want a nice sketch of U-Go and Doop

Those are some great choices. Black Widow and Punisher starts to become a bit monotonous after the first few issues but it's starting to pick up again with their latest releases last week. And Ms. Marvel's a great pick up; it's a fun read so far.

Fables #143

The buildup to the eventual fight between Snow White and Rose Red continues in this issue. We also find out who has been controlling the feral
Bigby
. My prediction is that Snow White and Rose Red will begin to fight but only to realize that the true enemy is the one controlling
Bigby
. I feel like Fables is getting back on track with how it used to be: full of wonderment, excitement and all of the favorable characters playing a big role in the upcoming fight(s). Oh, and I guess the mundys are starting to see things they shouldn't see...

Any cool Flycatcher developments? My favorite part of the series was his ascent.

You might as well stop after this arc and before Deadpool gets married. It's just zzzzZZZZzzz after The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

:(

Seriously? I hope Duggan and Posehn didn't blow their dramatic load all over this one arc. I mean, The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly is not just a great Deadpool story, it's a fantastic story in general. And the art is so good. Shalvey and Bellaire killed it here like in Moon Knight.

At least the story ended with a fairly (well, sorta) heartwarming moment where
Captain America and Wolverine extend friendship to Deadpool. I liked that.

I'm probably gonna catch up with the rest of Deadpool, but I really hope that Posehn and Duggan can reach the heights that they hit with Good, Bad, Ugly.

Punisher is really awesome. And keep up with Moon Knight, it's fantastic (but Ellis and Shalvey only do up to Issue 6). Also, you should check out Hawkeye, Deadpool, and Daredevil, all fantastic titles.

Check out She-Hulk too. It'll go along nicely with Ms. Marvel. Two great, fun, well drawn books.

I've read up until 12 or 13 in Hawkeye.

I'm going to start She-Hulk soon. With Daredevil am I good to start with the relaunched first issue or go to the beginning of Waid's run?

I definitely want to see all 6 of Ellis' issues. Is Brian Wood being himself on that book, or keeping it going?

You should start at the beginning of Waid's run cause 1) It's fantastic, and 2) the relaunch continues on from where the previous series ended. It's all pretty much uninterrupted, they just changed the numbering to give the series a boost and cause they changed up some of the status quo
as Daredevil will now live in San Francisco, and the previous Waid run explains why.

As for Moon Knight, I've no clue what Wood is doing. I didn't like his first issue.

Oh yeah, my friend ended up springing for a sketch from the JL8 guy at the con. Cost him $50 for a bust style sketch (apparently full body would've been more money).

He ended up going with a plain Batman, though somehow when he was ordering it I heard him say Venom. Which triggered the conversation: if you're commissioning something from someone at a con, would you want something unique or something that the artist is iconic for? Like, there's a ton of different pictures of that straightforward Batman from the JL8 out there, but something a little different (not necessarily Venom, that's just what I misheard) could provide a more unique souvenir. But my friend argued that it's better to go with what the artist knows to guarantee quality. I don't know, I'm not the type to commission anyway, just curious what people thought.

I'm going to try for a Quinones one...not sure who yet.

I'm not so sure about that character choice theory. I assume if you like an artist enough to get a sketch then you know the quality of their work regardless of which character they are drawing.

Pee Gee :)

I love Quinones work

With Yale I would have gone with someone who hasn't been in JL8 but in that style. I'd likely go with Ivy or Harley. His harley is great. Just wish she was in the series. Definitely wouldn't have chosen Batman for the reasons listed.

How is this not one of the cutest things ever

Yes we all know Yale is a scumbag before somone points out the obvious

I was thinking Zatanna or Poison Ivy. Dat animated series hairstyle.

I wouldn't bother but if you want to read the issues before Dracula's Gauntlet, that's fine. Just don't read Dracula's Gauntlet.

I think it's more fun to let the artist pick what they want to draw. It's bound to be unique and will be something they're super into.

I can't believe JL8 dude charges $50 for a bust.

Your avatar is my response to this.

Well if you were a nice lady he'd probably bust something for free HA HA EJACULATION JOKES.

I'm re-reading the Action Comics issues with The Legion and I dunno why people hate. It's so damn charming and I legitimately laugh at the beginning. It's so good.

So this is just a general comic collecting question since I'm trying to sort my comics in order...

What kind of bags and boards does everyone recommend? Furthermore, I don't really like taping my bags -- is there a better way than taping? I know you can put the flap inside of the bag, but that seems to create the issue of the comic sliding around. Any suggestions?

Man, Men of Wrath came out of nowhere but is lighting up the web. Is it just a miniseries or what? JAaron gritty crime can do no wrong in my eyes, though. Preview looks dope.

Oh god. Omnibuses...so...expensive. I'm contemplating just not buying any more floppies or trades and just buying an Omnibus every month. This is a fool's idea, isn't it?

That's essentially what I do. It works out great!

Yeah, I considered not getting a commission after all, but I don't think i can't. the lineup is just 2good

Oh my goodness. I wonder if Mignola does commissions...
I'd be really tempted to get an Allred or Burnham commission too. Or Stokely.

Allred takes cover quality ones on his site
they're $1,000
. Didn't even know Stokely was gonna be there.

How long ago did they start these digital code things?

My God.

I must have a million and didn't even realize it.

Well I'd be happy to take any you don't want. :P
I can reimburse you in the form of mini reviews.

Yeeeeeeeeeah that might be a little out of my price range.
I'd imagine Mignola would charge about the same if he does commissions.

Edit: From Mignola's website:
Currently Mike does not do commissions privately or at conventions. He just doesn’t have the time!

Probably for the best. Or else my hard-earned savings could be in jeopardy.
Better yet, instead of a commission, I can (if I hypothetically go to LBCC) load up on Mignola prints. Now that sounds like a fantastic idea.
