Is there a way to turn off AVLS permanently? What a dumb restriction.

Edit: To describe my issue a bit - AVLS (the thing that restricts the volume to about 75%) keeps turning itself back on after the Vita has either been restarted or in sleep mode for some time. It's really annoying.

Settings->Sound & Display->AVLS check off.

Unless that doesn't work. D:

TOTP: Buy Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment and pre-order Project Diva F 2nd

I've never experienced that on my slim, but a quick google search shows that some of the post launch oled models automatically reset the ALVS setting after 20 hours of playing or rebooting the system.

  • Exercise care when setting the volume. If you set the volume too high, it may harm your hearing or damage the speakers.
  • Depending on the model, when a total of 20 hours of playback is reached when this setting is off, the setting is automatically turned on.

i called sony about this, the vita tech support guy was useless. he didn't know what the problem was, said his is working fine.

i found out what it was.

the newer models of the vita have avls enabled by default every time you turn on the system, and there is no way of disabling it permanently. for the record i live in the uk, it's been reported to happen in germany, usa and now australia.

Just looking at the model number, mine is a March/Semi-launch model from last year and its labeled PCH-1001 (Wifi) and I have not had this problem at all, so I guess later models that are 1003+ will have this force enabled.

Sony dun goofed up.

That's why I said 'permanently' and 'keeps turning back on'. :p

I googled a bit and apparently that's intentional? If so that is exceptionally stupid. Even if you never turn off the Vita completely, it resets itself after 20 hours. What the fuck.

Thanks, yeah. That is beyond dumb.

finally completed all chapters of DR2. what an emotional ride that is. now let me see if i can even platinum this thing..took me the entire weekend to complete the main story of the game :)

Did anyone notice that Hotline Miami price increased after PS4 rerelease? I saw the store banner and it said 9,99€, but I'm sure it was 7,99€ before.

In the end i bought SAO, i'll import Danganronpa 2 and Neptunia.
The download ended at 2:00 am so i only played the tutorial and maybe because of the hour i didn't understand anything lol, at the moment i don't really feel the combat :\

Capcom really needs to proof read their stuff:

The combat is the best part of the game, it'll take some time to come to terms with all the systems at play though.

About a week ago I added a 12 month sub through the psn "subscribe" or whatever, now I have money for another 12 months.

If I "subscribe" to another 12 months will it add it on to the existing time or overwrite it.

Any chance of there being some nice Vita deals during black friday?

I really want to pick one up but not sure if I should wait..

Yeah, I thought the combat was pretty lousy myself. It feels too close and cluttered.

They need to put there a fucking search tab in th PSMobile store. Or at least a page with games in alphabetical order.

Seriously, I went through most categories before I even considered "Action". Luckily there anren't many games in most categories.

But yeah, PS Store being garbage? That's nothing new. No idea how it is on the PS4, but all the other stores need to be rebuilt from the ground up. It's a joke.

Just checked the German store on my Vita. It's in the mobile tab under "Action".

Aha! Got it, thanks!

The entire PSN store is so badly designed, it's baffling. :S If I didn't know beforehand that these games existed, I would never come across them (like how I remembered earlier that Rainbow Moon is on Vita).

No problem!

Seriously, that's the most worrying part to me. I'm 100% sure they're losing money every single day just because you can't find anything in the stores. I still don't know how to browse PSOne game on the new webstore (EU).

Here is a run down of how the combat works (I played the game for 20 hours at this point, so I think I can help with this :D).

The Burst meter determines the power-level of your 'main' attacks; the higher it is, the stronger your hits will hit and vice versa if the meter lowers. You can make it rise again if you switch with your party member, with them usually using a sword skill to buy your time for your gauge to fill up.

The square attack is the 'stun' attacks; once you press it, most of the time you will stun your foe for a bit (when your party member tells you to do it, if you pull it off, they use a strong sword skill as a follow up). You also have your 'block' skill mapped to triangle. If you pull it off at the right time, you get 100 SP points and they suffer from what looks like a simple 'stun' state. Both operate on a cool-down meter though, so type your usage of them well.

The way to manage your SP is to consonantly praise your partner. When they use a sword skill, follow your commands (telling them to heal, go in DEF mode, use skill, ect) and once your praise them, you get 50 SP points. You also get them through crystals (which offer 100-200 SP points per use) or potions (which enable the auto-refill of your SP to slowly to greatly increase).

Speaking of the sword skills, you have your attack ones. Depending on the weapon type you chose to have (Dual Swords, One Sword, Two-Handed Sword, Axe, Mace, Spear, Lance, ect), you have different attacks to use. Considering the anime/light book novels, you have the most Dual Sword/One Sword Skills right out of the gate, so don't worry about not being able to fight well :). The only thing to keep in mind though is two things; your skill tree and your SP management. The former isn't that much of a worry, but it is important to carefully decide what skills you want based on your skill points (you get a lot of them if you level up enough, so don't worry :D). The latter is something to worry about (as you attack Sword Skills eat up 100-150 SP points), but there are ways to deal with this (mentioned latter in this post).

You also have to manage your buffs/de-buffs as you fight. You have a verity of battle skills you can use (giving you a EXP boost for a while, increasing your hit chance, you power, you HP regeneration speed, ect). Some of them use SP while others operate on a cool-down set up. You can also buff your party with potions you get from shops and quests.

Using your partner is also important as you can tell them to heal, use DEF stance, use there skills and more. This even extends to the 'MP' Mode and Boss rooms, where your commands are followed by everyone, not just your party. Using this right can really save your party from dying.

I know this is a bit exhaustive XD, so I hope this helps :).

DR1 makes me feel so messed up.. yet I keep wanting to go back.

the music can get annoying at times though.. and Makoto sounds kinds whiny.

The characters feel like they are reading off a script rather than actually interacting with one another.
Japanese dub all day every day.

I think the English dub in both Danganronpa games is really well done, didn't really have any complaints at all and I generally dislike English dubs.
Playing Danganronpa without hearing Miyuki Sawashiro going nuts should be a crime punishable in some corporal way.

Yep, just keep playing, and it will click

Well i only played the tutorial(the fight against that sort of bone scorpion) so it was just a first impression, i need to play more to judge.

DR1's dub was good, but the second one takes it a whole other level. I feel like VA these days is becoming better and better. There is that one or two voices here and there that make me go "nop", but so far this year I feel like everything I've played that's dubbed has been phenomenal from start to finish.

Just finished Chapter 3 of DR1 last night before bed. The whole case was insane with the culprit setting up a pretty elaborate scheme. I'm definitely going to get DR2 after this.

While GAF is getting hyped for Destiny, I just ordered a used copy of Infamous Second Son online. It's probably the last retail PS4 game I really want to play until Bloodborne is released (sorry Destiny).

You shouldn't feel sorry, if it's not your thing, it's not your thing. Plus you still have your Vita, and Vita means life... So you are still alive and well my friend.

Very good post :)
Just one addition to that:
Praising your partner influences her to move her role in the appropriate direction. For example praising her for def-skills will push her more towards a tank role (same for attack and buff).
So if you want her to act in a certain role, don't praise every action she does, only the correct ones. In addition, having a strong focus in one role unlocks a new outfit (one for each role and a bonus outfit, if you unlock all 3).
You can further influence her when talking about the battle strategy. Your partner will say some random lines like "should I concentrating on attacks?". The first answer is always don't change anything, the second if you want her to follow her suggestion.

And when you open the skill palette, by default one skill is set as burst which triggers the skill automatically. I would deactivate the bust. It's always better to manually activate skills that use SP than than have one automatically used and in the worst case lack the SP when you need them for another skill.

@2+2=5
Don't worry about the battle system too much. It's just overwhelming at first and the tutorial could indeed be significantly better but it's actually not overly complicated.
It certainly gets better when you continue to play :)
And if you are stuck somewhere or need help, the SAO OT is helpful as well:

Glad I was able to help :). Do yourself a favor and check out the thread for this game, as you will find lots of helpful information in the OP and throughout the thread :). People there are very nice and frequently answer questions about the game, so check it out if you need any more help.

Also keep in mind that the games difficulty is a bit....off. It isn't hard (far from it) but it can get challenging if you don't manage your Alicard Floor Clearing and Hallow Area exploration. I recommend beating the first Floor boss (shouldn't be that hard, just try to level up 1-2 levels and get stronger swords/upgrade your swords before the fight) then explore the Hallow Area for quite some time (at least until you find two really powerful swords). Remember about the Buffs in my other post and the commands to your partner; skillful use of the game's mechanics can make high level foes a cake walk to fight :D.

Alicard is also very easy compared to the Hallow Area, so don't worry about dying much there (try to complete all the Boss-require quests first though; makes exploration of the floors much less tedious).

Lastly, there are a few things to talk about.

Firstly, a very easy way to level up yourself and your party is visiting the MP Area or forming a MP Party when exploring the Hallow Area. You set this up by going to the Command Room (which you should get after going back to Alicard) with a party member (any would be good, though pick the one with the highest level) and when in the menu, select MP mode. Select the characters you want to bring with you then you will go back to the Command Room. Click it again and you can either go to a new Area (which has 100+ floors and is randomly-generated) or just explore the Hallow Area normally.

Either option is solid and when you get this skill, ALWAYS use the EXP Buff (gives you more EXP for the whole party for a while) and then you and your party will rank up the levels in no time XD!

Speaking of the command room, there are 'implements' you can use during Hallow Missions. You first have to select one to use, and if give you a requirement to fulfill (use X number of Skills, use X number of Burst Attacks aka Circle attacks, ect). Once you complete them, you get perminte buffs and (I guess?) 'cheats' you can use during Hallow Missions.

Lastly, there are the 'dating' options. I barely tried this at all (due to finding them stupid and pointless, considering this series cannon :l), but you have the option to....'sleep' with your female party members. Through a tedious and stupid mini game that has you talk (it isn't even that, it is just Kirtio just saying "Indeed" and "Good" at the right time), you then get there emotion levels to level 5, then you bridal carry them to your bed (I think?), and have another talk. Complete it and then the scene plays. I believe there are three unique scenes for each party member and it increases there Relationship level with you (which is useful, as you can give them armor when there level is high enough).

Good to see that Luftrausers is still GOTY material on Vita, hot damn. Love that freaking game. Next TOTP recommendation should be Luftrausers, yo.

Yup me too.

I don't see any of your OlliOlli scores, what gives.

Also, Renpatsu is an OlliOlli god, wowowow. Show me your ways, Ren. :o
