Probably has to do with the video leaking. If it was "just" a domestic violence charge with no imagery associated with it, people wouldn't be as outraged. That video is straight up brutal.

Good. Kind of pathetic they waited til now. It's hard to believe the team or the NFL couldn't get their hands on this video before TMZ did.

FUCK YEA

though I'm not sure why they needed to SEE the video instead of just hearing how fucked up it was.

Agree that this whole scenario is stupid, but why did the video have to be the catalyst? What did people think happened? He slapped or pushed her unconscious?

Should have been done from the get go

Don't give the Ravens any respect. They only did this because they had to. Look at what they did back in May.

It's entirely possible that the Ravens higher ups may have not seen the video until it got leaked.

Career over. No ones going to touch him.

Vick got back into the league.

Rice will land somewhere.

On the one hand, this is great news. Sends a strong message and makes a huge example out of Rice. On the other hand, it took fucking TMZ for it to happen.

But not probable.

Probably. Just to play devil's advocate though, on what authority would the Ravens organization have to see the video? Wouldn't there be potential legal issues in play there?

(I honestly have no idea, just throwing it out there for discussion)

Maybe the owner/GM believed Ray's side of the story or some shit, saw the video, got pissed and cut him.
I doubt it, but my mind is just curious

I wonder how much the ravens still owed him. Good for them. They did the right thing since that new video surfaced.

Ravens HAD to do this. Do not mistake this as "doing the right thing." It took TMZ to make it happen.

The NFL and Ravens still have plenty of questions to answer.

He'll be with a team next year.

You're naïve for thinking otherwise.

Absolutely.

People have done worse and gotten off with far less punishment and public outcry.

It's a shame what we allow for the sake of being entertained.

Imagery is more powerful since it puts a face to the violence. If it was just "thiswoman who was beat by her husband", yeah it's still fucked up, but when it is "look at this video of this woman getting beat" and you see the damage done first hand, people tend to get much angrier at that sort of stuff.

Rice doesn't have to be done in the NFL over this. But he has to earn his redemption. The Ravens, the NFL, and Rice all tried to shortcut redemption. They didn't get away with it, thankfully.

So what are the odds the NFL changes the terms of Ray's suspension now in order to save face and maybe try to guarantee that nobody tries to sign him this season? Ray will be on a different NFL roster the moment anyone's starting running back gets banged up.
