Sorry if I came across as overly harsh. This was not aimed at you personally. Well, this forum context may make it look like it was, but this was not my intent.
I used to be a games reviewer. I have experienced my fair share of herd mentality, bash-everything attitude, the meh generation and bought and paid reviews.
I would compare the review effect to the placebo effect. Did you know that placebos work on patients even when they are clearly told that what they are eating are placebos? Heart stimulators "start working" before they are turned on. And knee surgeries seem to work even if the doctors make an incision and sow it up.
I am getting totally off-topic with this here, but here's a couple of ideas.
- Blocking early Destiny reviews was a gamble that has paid off.
- More people who partook in the beta are now willing to play the game and judge it on its own merits.
- If the reviews pan the game - will we see people returning it to the stores, exchanging it for The Sims 4 perhaps?
- If the reviews hit high marks, will people simply dismiss those?
- Is there a difference in the end?
