I don't know what class to pick. I'm leaning towards Titan or Warlock. Suggestions?

I picked Hunter as class for the main game. I played mostly Warlock and a little Titan in the alpha and beta. Out of those two, I'd lean Warlock. Seemed a little more interesting to me whereas the Titan was kind of your typical soldier class. Titan does have a bad ass super though...

Some of you writing off the game already are going to look pretty foolish later on. Judging this type of game after a couple of hours is nonsense. As for the story impressions, yeah most have the same structure but the story itself is actually alright.

Sorry if I came across as overly harsh. This was not aimed at you personally. Well, this forum context may make it look like it was, but this was not my intent.

I used to be a games reviewer. I have experienced my fair share of herd mentality, bash-everything attitude, the meh generation and bought and paid reviews.

I would compare the review effect to the placebo effect. Did you know that placebos work on patients even when they are clearly told that what they are eating are placebos? Heart stimulators "start working" before they are turned on. And knee surgeries seem to work even if the doctors make an incision and sow it up.

I am getting totally off-topic with this here, but here's a couple of ideas.
  • Blocking early Destiny reviews was a gamble that has paid off.
  • More people who partook in the beta are now willing to play the game and judge it on its own merits.
  • If the reviews pan the game - will we see people returning it to the stores, exchanging it for The Sims 4 perhaps?
  • If the reviews hit high marks, will people simply dismiss those?
  • Is there a difference in the end?

I am just totally confused about 'what' Destiny is, I like my FPS shooters, I play CoD and BF as they give something different, not really played any MMO's, and I love RPG's too, but I've not been caught up in the hype with Destiny, I've not read any previews or anything about it, all I had was about two hours with the beta and I just felt like nothing was happening, I couldn't work out what I needed to do to get to the crucible and it felt like "land here, go to point A, kill people, now go and wipe out everyone in a horde/wave attack" until the end and then back to base we go, rinse repeat at another location.

Maybe this game just isn't for me.

They really should of included matchmaking for instances (bizarre decision) and/or in game text chat at least in the hub.

Anyway I just don't see what others are seeing here. Just seems like a high budget polished and sterile borderlands.
more sterile than borderline?

haha same here didn't bother me that much as I'd already gotten a 12month playstation plus subscription.

Still anyone know the reason why the PS+ code that came with the game isn't working for some?

That's strange. I got a 7 day trial with the console. You should of gotten something with your console (or at least launch consoles did). I got a $5 credit and two trials: one for music unlimited and one for PS Plus. Are you trying it on their website or on the store?

So I'm trying to buy digitally from the Xbox Store on the web, but it's saying Not Available. This is despite me having clicked a link to buy it digitally. Anyone else experience this?

No problems here - bought it this morning online.

Oh i see.. I'm getting the digital version. And I don't care about toys

Thanks for the clarification. You just saved me $30

Glad to help; this game was actually my first time dwell into paying full price for digital.

What is your GT I'll add you?

But on the other hand, I have classes today until ten at night, by which time I'm usually too exhausted to play so not a HUGE bummer I guess.

At least I actually am getting the Ghost Edition...
I've never had a delay from Amazon. How does something like this happen?

Do you live in Alaska? Problem with your payment method? Place the order yesterday?

The disconnections are driving me crazy.
And communication between players should have been structured better. I played the beta on PS3 and bought the game for the XBone but everything was smooth and easy on PS3 (invites would automatically attach a message) while on the Bone you constantly have to get out of the game and into the messages app, the friends app, the chat app.
I'm playing Warframe and you have a chat log, you can switch server regions and you have matchmaking also for story missions, that's miles better and definitely more user friendly then Destiny: let me choose my server goat damn it!.

Yep. End game content is gonna be the best and most fun. Not too mention the game is going to be constantly imroving through updates.

I think I'll do Hunter as my primary and Warlock as my secondary. I dint realize the Hunter had Bladedancer. I need that shit in my veins.

I'm currently playing through this SP, should I be playing it co-op to get the most out of it? How does MP work? Is there a big story campaign and is it effected at all if you play in co-op or does the story play out the same?

I placed the order Sunday. Hmm, I accidentally bought 2 (clicked 1-click order twice) and canceled one because I didn't want to be an asshole to someone else who wanted it.

Maybe that caused the problem?

This shit is some crack. Played for like 5 hours straight. Did some story coop then I did some pvp then I did a strike with randoms then I did some free roam and then I did some strike with gaffer.

Not gonna argue with the story criticisms. This is some weak sauce writing. It's like it thinks you're already fully invested and every line is some revelatory incredibleness. As far as mission structure, they're different enough I feel but relying on deploy Ghost -> hold position pretty much every time is super lazy. It leans more towards the loot game, hack n slash school of mission design rather than a typical shooter which is what most would have expected from Bungie.

Yes, this game is video game crack to me. Haha. I will also agree that the story is very weak but still really fun in terms of game play. Mission structure is similar but I like the breadth of enemies and terrain. That really makes up for the lack of breadth on mission structure.

PSN (PS4): GKW212 if you want to add me.

I just can't wrap my head around some of the backlash. From what I can tell this is the beta with more levels, locations, abilities, loot, strikes, and endgame. What did people expect?

People trying to understand what all the rabid hype is about, I suppose. There had to be something to warrant it but now there is nothing?

Those that ordered from Amazon like me: do not look at the Amazon status. Go to the source instead. UPS says mine will arrive today, for example, despite Amazon saying otherwise. I can see it arrived in town so I imagine it will be out for delivery soon.

Is there something missing from the story or is it just not there, I remember from playing the beta that it felt like bits were missing, but even in the full game they just kind of gloss over things.

General game spoilers from the first two "planets". Earth for instance,
this whole Warmind thing, they want you to set up the satellite to connect to other planets, you do it, and then nothing, back into your ship no mention of it.
Then there is the Moon,
the little text says a guardian went missing up here, and then when you arrive your ghosts starts talking about it almost like there had been a previous mention of any of this, but nope, just like the Beta there seems to be a lack of actual story from doing anything before or after any missions so far.
It feels like I'm missing something or someone that should be explaining anything going on really.
Did you read all the terminals?

:P

I've not been able to play as much as I wanted today thus far, my jimmies are beginning to get rustled. lol

So is the audio profile for the Sony golds avaliable? Can't seem to find it in the store?

Apparently the headset companion app updated to version 1.1 today so make sure you have the latest version installed on your console and it should be there.

I've not tried myself though as I'm stuck at work.

I'm really enjoying it. Only played control so far but I think it feels great. I haven't really noticed the higher level people getting much of an advantage over me.
PvP feels really good and balanced to me, solid map design. Maybe this is an expected thing, but I didn't know you'd be able to level in PvP and take PvP "quests."

Booked it to Best Buy.
Picked up my copy.
Ran by my house and popped the disc into my PS4.
Grabbed my vita.
Now back at work playing through remote play.
This is freakin next gen.
